Black Art 11 has been created using pre-renaissance casks from Bruichladdich Distillery (pre-2001) which have been safeguarded and maturing on Islay for 24 years.

An enigmatic alchemy which relies on nature, craftsmanship and the quiet passing of time, what happens inside each cask under cover of darkness in the depths of the warehouse remains a mystery. Black Art 11 is a testament to this elusive mastery. Using artisanal techniques passed down from one generation to the next; the spirit is pulled exclusively from Bruichladdich distillery pre-renaissance casks which have been patiently maturing on our island home for almost three decades. The finite single malt is created in secret by our head distiller, Adam Hannett, with the recipe only known to him. Putting our trust in Adam, he is given creative freedom to bring this incredible whisky to life. Using pre-renaissance Bruichladdich stock, Black Art 11 is unique and unrepeatable. A chance to experiment, take risks and push the boundaries of possibility; only Adam knows what has gone into creating the precious 24-year-old single malt. The barley and cask types are undisclosed, with the final recipe a mystery. TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Rich Tawny.

NOSE: Dried fruits, leather and a hint of citrus immediately open on the nose, followed by a fresh sea breeze. Sweet fruit and floral notes come to the fore, with poached pear, delicate rose hip syrup, black cherry, and sweet mango. The complexity of the single malt is apparent as the aromas continue to open, with cedar and mellow oak complemented with butterscotch, praline, honey, and a hint of cinnamon. Warming oats are balanced with fragrant notes of rose and pear drops.

PALATE: Dried fruits, dates, raisins, barley sugar, leather and oak open on the palate, followed by butterscotch sweetness, praline and hints of coconut and fresh citrus. Sweet apple and pear are married with toasted oak, warming wood spice, dark plums and marzipan, with layers of depth opening with each sip.

FINISH: Oak and dried fruit come to the fore, with Christmas cake notes of sultanas, fig, marzipan, and lingering honey adding to the beautifully rounded finish.

TASTE PROFILE: Fresh, smooth and well balanced with notes of earthy agave and citrus.

Taylor Fladgate is one of the few remaining houses to produce a 30 Year Old aged tawny Port. Selected red Ports produced in the eastern areas of the Douro Valley are matured in seasoned oak casks in Taylor Fladgate cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Here, the cool and damp coastal climate encourages a slow and gentle ageing process, producing aromas of great complexity and finesse.

Only every two or three years is a reserve of Port with sufficient structure, fruit and power to age is laid aside to age in oak casks. Those that have reached their peak after thirty years are then blended together for balance and finesse, and to ensure consistency of quality and style. The 30 year old tawny is one such wine.
 

Tasting Notes

Deep, old gold colour with hints of dried fruit and honey offsetting the rich nutty aromas. Lush, silky richness with an elegant, slightly austere quality which is quite distinctive. Subtle dried fruit flavours underly, exotic layers of caramel and nuts culminating in an endless finish.

Terrazas de los Andes Cabernet Sauvignon. Naturally low-yield vines grown in the clay soils of Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo, bring forth full-bodied, generous flavors. And our best plot in Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley, offers spicy, fruity aromas. Blending the contrasts of five in transition to organic plots, this Mendoza red wine is perfect for ageing.

This Argentinean Cabernet Sauvignon offers a complex bouquet that shows back pepper, tobacco and fresh herbal hints, combined with notes of dark chocolate and caramel due to the oak aging. In mouth, it stands out for presenting a greasy and long sensation with granular tannins and a fresh finish.

Smith & Cross Jamaica Rum contains only Wedderburn and Plummer pot still distillates, famous for their notes of exotic fruits and spice. The incomparable complexity of this rum delivers a tour de force of flavour that historically made it a cornerstone of classic rum drinks. We have chosen not to chill filter this spirit in order to retain its full flavour. The mark of Smith & Cross traces its lineage to one of England’s oldest producers of sugar and spirits. Its history dates back to 1788 with a sugar refinery located at No. 203 Thames Street, by the London Docks. Over time, the firm and its partners became prominent handlers of Jamaica rum, with extensive underground cellars along the River Thames.

As an enduring addition to the Speciality Drinks' Elements of Islay range, the Cask Edit is a member of this esteemed series. This Islay blended malt Scotch whisky matures in a blend of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, adding alluring dimensions of fruit, nuts, buttery pastry, and roasted coffee to the subtly smoky malt at its essence.

WHY HILLSIDE VINEYARDS ARE SPECIAL FOR CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Steep hillside vineyards present the ultimate challenge. Mountainous terrain tests both the grower and the vine. But the results can be extraordinary. These hillside vineyards have less access to water, with the rockier soil also holding fewer nutrients. These conditions stress the vines, resulting in the production of a fraction of the fruit of most vineyards. The harsh environment causes the vines to struggle, yielding fewer clusters and smaller berry size. The result is berries that are loaded with rich, ripe, intensely concentrated flavors and complexity.

Our original Crystal Head Vodka is crafted from locally sourced, Canadian corn. It is distilled four times into a neutral grain spirit and blended with pristine water from Newfoundland, Canada. Each year, only the most outstanding small lots of Zinfandel are isolated from the many produced at Michael David to bottle under Lust. Lust is comprised of the best Zinfandel that Lodi has to offer; cherry picked right off the vine to create one sexy, showy and seductive wine. This limited production vintage possesses all the qualities expected from a luxury Zinfandel...Smooth to the core and leaves nothing to be desired.

TASTING NOTES

Seductive as its name, 2020 Lust Zinfandel is a dark ruby red beauty exuding seductive aromas of raspberry, violet, honey, almond and vanilla. Lush, sultry offerings of plum, caramel, clove and cacao are rounded out with delicate spice notes and an alluring, dark chocolate finish.

The first Lodi Cabernet Franc wine ever produced by Michael David Winery, and one of the few produced from Lodi. This varietal originated from the Bordeaux and Loire Valley regions of France and has been grown with success in many other countries. The grapes for this wine come from a 9 acre vineyard located on the west side of Lodi, no more than a stone’s throw away from the winery. Ready to drink now or could be set down for a few years.
