In 1872, Benjamin and Eduardo Camp moved from Spain to Cuba, founding the Matusalem Rum Distillery in Santiago de Cuba. With decades of experience in distillation, solera aging, and blending Spanish brandy, they established a renowned rum brand. After the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the distillery relocated to the Dominican Republic. Today, it maintains the original recipes and techniques, including solera aging for their Ron Matusalem 18 Year Old Gran Reserva Rum. This process, traditionally used for aging cognacs and sherries, involves continuously blending rums of different ages, resulting in a progressively complex flavor profile.

Detailed Description

Ron Matusalem was originally founded in Cuba in 1872. But when the Communistas threatened to confiscate not only the Rum but the means of production, they picked up the entire operation and moved it to the Dominican Republic. Their entire line of premium Rums are molasses-based and all of them are aged by the perpetual Solera method ensuring high quality and consistency across the board.
