The prestige cuvée Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs is the most accomplished expression of the Perrier-Jouët style, result of a year of contrasts. A single harvest, a single grape variety, a single terroir: the assemblage of this cuvée is a work of great precision. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced exclusively from two legendary vineyard parcels: Bouron Leroi and Bouron du midi, situated in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in the terroir of Cramant. Situated half way up the South-East facing slope in this exceptional Grand Cru, these two vineyard parcels benefit from exposure to the first rays of the early morning sun, encouraging a slow and even ripening of the grapes. Cellar ageing for eight years and a light dosage of 8g/l help to create an enticing and seductive wine with a wonderful balance between generosity and elegance. Vintages vary by location. Veuve Clicquot Brut represents the very best in quality champagne. Veuve Clicquot rivals the likes of Mo?t & Chandon and is world renowned for a reliability in producing sensational champagne.Characteristically deep and full, Veuve Clicquot Brut features a clean floral sensation and a lingering freshness. With hints of vanilla, fruit and raisins creating a toasty aroma, the senses will be appeased before the first sip even hits the palate. Using only the best Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, a well-balanced melange of fruity aromas, together with the hint of added spice, will be sure to impress any champagne enthusiast.

Distillery Information

Founded in 1772 by Philippe Cliquot from a wealthy banking family, his son Franois married Barbe Nicole Ponsardin. Sadly she was widowed at just 27 so took over the stewardship of the champagne company, something she proved very good at.

DEMI-SEC

With its equilibrium that tends towards sweet and fruit flavors, Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec is an indulgent treat for champagne lovers – and perfectly suited for dessert.

THE BLEND

No fewer than 50 individual wines make up this cuvée. The traditional proportions for Demi Sec are: 40 to 45% Pinot Noir, 30 to 35% Meunier, 20 to 25 % Chardonnay.
Label Veuve Clicquot Champagne Demi-Sec
As with all Veuve Clicquot blends, Demi-Sec is predominantly Pinot Noir (40-45%), which gives the champagne its fundamental structure. The pursuit of very distinct fruit flavors means that there is a higher level of Meunier (30-35%) in the blend than would typically be found in Yellow Label, for example, and Chardonnay completes the blend (20-25%). The inclusion of 30-45% reserve wines ensures the consistency of the Veuve Clicquot style. The long aging in our Crayères (3 years minimum for Demi-Sec) gives silkiness to the Champagne. Finally, a dosage of 45 g/L gives Demi-Sec a sweeter balance of flavors while preserving the wine’s inherent freshness.

TASTING NOTES

After additional cellaring (two to three years, or even more in the right conditions), Demi Sec develops even richer notes of praline or toasts. It is then ideal with caramel or praline based desserts: Paris-Brest, tarte Tatin, pears with caramel, etc…

Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2008 is the first Vintage to be aged in wood barrels. It intensifies the natural aromas of wines and adds some spicy notes on the palate.

As with every Vintage, this wine is a reflection of the year's weather and climate. 2008 ended wonderfully with the grapes maturing in ideal conditions. The harvests, grouped together throughout Champagne, took place between Mid-September and early October, in perfect weather. The quality of this harvest was exceptional, with great potential for aging. Naturally then, 2008 was declared a Veuve Clicquot Vintage, the third in the decade following 2002 and 2004 and the House's 65th since its first Vintage of 1810. New to this 2008 Vintage: 5% of the wines were produced and aged in wooden casks from forests in Central France, from Allier and Vosges. This was to increase the complexity and aromatic richness of our Vintages, our gourmet wines. These cask-aged wines act as the spices for the blend. They bring very lightly woody, vanilla and toasted aromas.

A blend of 50 different Crus, Grand Brut expresses the quality and diversity of the Perrier-Jout winemaking tradition. Its assemblage creates a balance between the consistency of the Perrier-Jout style and the effects of the climate of the year.

With 12 to 20% of reserve wines added, Grand Brut is dominated by the elegance and finesse of the Chardonnays (20%) from the best vineyards in the Cte des Blancs.

The delicate structure is brought by the Pinot Noir (40%) primarily sourced from the Montagne de Reims and the Valle de la Marne, but also from the best Crus in the Aube region such as Les Riceys.

Pinot Meunier (40%) from the Valle de la Marne brings harmony, fruit and roundness to the wine.

Armand de Brignac Gold Brut was the first cuvée introduced to the portfolio and is the flagship. The Cattier family’s ambition during a New Year’s celebration in Chigny-les-Roses was to create the very best prestige cuvée for the 21st century, while still reflecting the rich traditions of winemaking in Champagne. It is in this way that the mastery of blending – vintages, terroirs and grape varieties – is at the essence of Armand de Brignac’s philosophy.

Tasting Notes: 

Peach, apricot and red berry aromas are followed by crystalized citrus, orange blossom and hints of brioche. The palate is rich with cherries, exotic fruits and a touch of lemon, vanilla and honey. The mouth feel is soft and creamy, with a hint of toastiness, from the unique Armand de Brignac dosage which is aged for one year in French oak barrels.

Armand de Brignac Rose is among the finest examples of the famous pink Champagne blend ever conceived, and is packaged in a brilliant pink-gold bottle with matching adornments. Its beautiful color is achieved through assemblage, the process by which sparkling white wine is blended with a proportion of still Pinot Noir wine. Armand de Brignac's Pinot Noir is picked from old-growth vines grown specifically for use in Rose Champagne. Armand de Brignac Rose is produced in extremely limited quantities - even by comparison to their Brut Gold.

TASTING NOTES

This Rose is announced with a rich bouquet of red fruits with delicate, smoky grilled notes behind. It is fresh and full-bodied on the palate with aromas of strawberries and blackcurrant, and is lingering and complex in its finish.

One of the world's most beloved and recognized champagnes, Yellow Label is a signature of the Veuve Clicquot House. This golden-yellow wine is immensely pleasing to the nose while its complexity explodes on the palette. The initial notes of fruit are followed by more discreet aromas of brioche and vanilla. Pairs beautifully with a variety of foods, including roast duck, smoked salmon and shrimp.

The Armand de Brignac Blanc de Blancs reveals so much about the unique terroir of Champagne. The 100% Chardonnay cuvée is crafted from fruit sourced from traditional Chardonnay territory, the Côte des Blancs. However, almost half of the blend is from Chardonnay sourced from Montagne de Reims, which provides suppleness, roundness and lightness, giving even greater potential for aging. The resulting Blanc de Blancs has a delicate fruit character combined with a unique power and structure.

A wine with almost six years aging in the deep chalk cellars of Champagne, the newly released Armand de Brignac Demi Sec was created to provide a sweeter elaboration that pairs with the most exotic of foods.

Tasting Notes: 

Notes of English candy, grapefruit, compote fruits, caramel, quince and brioche. The palate is abundant with crystalized citrus fruits, honey and hints of blackberries. The fine bubbles from the six years of aging, allow the light sweetness to elaborate.
