BACKGROUND
A small family farm on the southwest coast of Ireland and an Irish farmer with a very big dream.

The Scully family, the founders of Clonakilty distillery, have farmed this windswept coastal land for 9 successive generations. With the best resources that nature has to offer, prime land, pristine water and salt sea air, they had the perfect ingredients for a maritime distillery.

DISTILLERY
Located at the waterfront, in the heart of Clonakilty town, the three gleaming copper pot stills are an inspiring sight to behold.

It is here that we distill our award-winning new make, alongside our visitor experience and shop. This is where the magic starts, and is the home of Clonakilty whiskey.

BARLEY FIELDS
We grow our own heritage barley on our family farm in the shadow of the Galley Head lighthouse.

Centuries of sea mist, soft rain and ocean spray provide a complexity to the soil that permeates through to each individual grain.

OUR ENVIRONMENT
We are privileged to support Whale and Dolphin Conservation in their worldwide quest to protect these majestic creatures.

In addition, we are proud members of Origin Green an independently certified commitment to sustainable corporate practice. 

The Distillers at Clonakilty have hand selected an 8 year old grain and 10 year old triple distilled malt to create this first single batch Clonakilty Irish whiskey. 

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Soft spices, vanilla, fresh cut grass, slightly perfumed, riple apple/pear notes. Fresh leather tones. 

Palate: Warm spices - cubed pepper and ginger. Fresh cut grass, hazelnut and almond notes. 

Finish: Well-balanced Irish whiskey with spices lingering on the palate.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Fresh, ripe peaches and zesty aromas, creamy with a hint of wood character in the background.

Palate: Very fruity with peaches and zests, soft spices, some chili and cardamom in the length.

Finish: Middle long with a gentle pepperiness, the spices linger and get softer towards the end. 

Maker Notes

Part of our Cask Finish Series. It is gently cut and finished in carefully selected Bordeaux casks at our Atlantic Ocean warehouse.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Toasted Oak & sweet red berries.

PALATE: Fruity with flavours of strawberries, honey, vanilla and wood spice.

FINISH: Wood spice & a hint of cracked pepper.

Minke Vodka is a luxuriously smooth Pot Still Vodka.

Distilled from Whey alcohol in our Minke Copper Pot Still, it can be enjoyed neat, with your favourite mixer, or in your favourite vodka cocktail.

Minke Irish Vodka scooped the Gold Award in the Smooth category at The Spirits Business Vodka Masters 2021 and was commended by judges for having a smooth taste, “with a nice creaminess and a good balance”. It was also noted by the panel for being “soft with a touch of peppery spice notes”.

HOW TO ENJOY MINKE VODKA
