Prior to this fateful toast, they each had explored their infatuation with complex elixirs. Max had spent tireless days in his backyard experimenting with his own concoctions, constantly macerating, infusing, and barrel-aging different local plants and herbs, exhaustively cataloging the results in hopes of creating the first local, San Francisco fernet. Meanwhile, on an amaro quest of his own, Ben traveled to the most remote corners of the globe, immersing himself in the methods and techniques practiced by some of most renowned international distilleries.

Their connection sparked the emergence of Fernet Francisco - The first locally crafted, Bay Area fernet.

When we first discovered this barrel, we were immediately captivated by its balanced and dynamic flavor. The natural sweetness of the corn bourbon mash has pulled the best characteristics from the expertly charred new American oak. Rich and nutty toffee with smooth caramel has imbued this spirit with a robust maturity. The rye-heavy mashbill adds a magnificent contrast, exposing drinkers to a concert of flavors that seamlessly dance between sweet, savory, and spicy. A rosé wine characterised by a light and delicate freshness. Guaranteed to be likeable given the altitude of the vineyards from which the grapes come, with their strong acidity and alcohol content which is not too high. Brief maceration contributes to its crunchiness and fresh fragrance.

The bouquet has delicate fruit notes which recall plums and raspberries; hints of a more well developed jam and citrus follow and then on the finish, distant hints of flint. On the palate, good complexity and structure with a characteristically bitter final note.

Pillitteri Reserve Icewine

Pillitteri Reserve Icewines are rare and exceptional wines from Canada. Reserve Icewines undergoe maturation in oak barrels. Like table wines, Icewine matures and gains complexity and aromas from oak. All Pillitteri reserve classified Icewine is placed in custom designed bottles embossed with 24kt. gold.
