Our Celebration of the Deliciousness of Grain Whisky

In 2000, John Glaser created the first ever Blended Grain Whisky released to the market. He called it Hedonism. The Scotch whisky landscape was changed forever.

Over the past 23 years, Hedonism has remained a core part of the Compass Box brand, winning numerous awards and becoming a staple in many whisky fans’ cabinets. The calibre of whiskies we need for Hedonism have grown ever harder to find, which is why our first ever expression will become a Limited Annual Release going forward. For the first batch we have turned to more mature whiskies aged almost entirely in first-fill Bourbon barrels.

Hedonism 2024 contains the last of our stocks of grain whiskies distilled in the 1990s, a period when some of the distilleries featured used maize in their mashes. This brings an enhanced buttery weight to the overall composition.

You can expect a complex array of patisserie aromas, with exotic vanilla and clove-infused caramel. Layers of creamy custard arrive on the palate, with accents of honey and mascarpone. At the finish, a delicate citrus accent appears.

The Story
The 'Old Pepper' label was proudly produced by Colonel James E. Pepper during his lifetime and marketed as 'The Oldest and Best Brand of Whiskey made in Kentucky.' Through Col. Pepper's advocacy on behalf of the bourbon industry, it was the first label in Kentucky to be bottled at the distillery, and his invention of the 'signature strip stamp' was later incorporated into the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, assuring consumers of the quality of the whiskey in the bottle. Our label today incorporates historic fonts and designs from the 1880s through the turn of the century, including the signature strip label—once again giving consumers valuable information about where and when the whiskey was made and bottled.

Tasting Notes

The finish is enduring, with deep spiciness, dark fruits, leather, and caramel.

Introducing the fifth chapter of the Midleton Very Rare Dair Ghaelach series—Midleton Very Rare Dair Ghaelach Kilranelagh Wood. Once again, the rarity of Midleton Very Rare meets the luxury of Irish oak to bring you an exceptional offering from the pinnacle of Irish whiskey.  

This release takes us to Kilranelagh Estate near Baltinglass, County Wicklow. Situated amid rolling hills and picturesque features, the native Irish woodland on the estate has been managed carefully and in tune with nature by one family, the Westerholt for many years. When their great Irish oak had reached the end of their life cycle and were ready to be felled so the new oak could grow in their place, they knew they wanted their legacy to live on—and Midleton Very Rare Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman knew that he had the perfect whiskey which would bring new life to these relics of a time gone by through finishing in this Irish oak.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Forest notes of fresh pine accompanied by floral honey and ground pepper at first, while sweet and tropical fruits can be detected amongst the herbal green tea and freshly mown hay. The use of the native Irish oak lends itself to creating distinctive aromas of smoked almonds with sweet vanilla and cinnamon that are complimented by the pot still savoury spices.

Taste: Robust and lively at first with notes of dried chilli flakes and red bell peppers which quickly soften, allowing notes of candied orange and crisp red apple to shine through. The oak continues to deliver sweet vanilla and cinnamon spice throughout, while the pot still spices add a hearty and full-bodied nature to this complex and intricate whiskey.

Finish: Wonderfully long finish which sees the pot still spices and oak linger, almost effortlessly, for an age.

The Kiawah Blend is the fourth release in the ICON SERIES, a series of limited time, small batch blends. Each blend is different and bears its own name and symbol, inspired by something in Dixon’s life. The Kiawah Blend is a nod to Dixon’s happy place where he goes with family and friends to relax, unwind, and recharge. Thomas S. Moore Cognac Casks Bourbon Whiskey is a standout from Barton 1792 Distillery's renowned Thomas S. Moore line, released in March 2022. Part of the second batch, this bourbon undergoes a unique extended cask finishing process. Crafted from the distillery's high-rye bourbon recipes aged 5-6 years, it receives a finishing touch in cognac casks previously holding cognac for 6+ years. After 2-4 years of maturation, this exceptional blend is bottled at 93.4 proof.

Fragola liqueur is made with Organic Strawberry juice, organic cane sugar, organic wheat alcohol. No artificial flavors, no added color, no GMOs.

Burning Sun: 2 oz Fragola Liqueur | 4 oz pineapple juice

On the right or west bank of the Rhône adjacent to the vineyards of Côte-Rôtie, the Condrieu area is one of the world‘s most elite. The steep vineyards are difficult to cultivate, and as a result only 50 acres in Condrieu are currently under vine. Here, Delas controls a small hillside vineyard in the Vérin area planted exclusively to Viognier. Soils are granite-based with a fine topsoil of decomposed mica that washes away easily. The Viognier is finicky with low yields (about 2 tons oer acre), yet the limited quantities of wine it produces can be exquisite.

The climate is moderately continental, hot and dry in summer, regular rainfalls during the other seasons. The vineyard has often been a victim of history and almost disappeared on several occasions, during the barbarian invasions, in the days of the “Grandes Compagnies” (in the 17th and 18th centuries) and, more recently, at the end of the 19th century, with the phylloxera infestation. Well before the modern period, the trading port of Condrieu and its river fleet carried the reputation of its wines far and wide

Tasting Notes
The color is a straw yellow, with green tinges. This Condrieu has layers of amazingly powerful and complex aromas: violets, apricots, peaches, honey and dried fruit. On the palate, these exuberant flavors are rich, powerful, and highly seductive, with an unctuous texture and a mass of exotic fruit on the finish.

A blend of our base Jefferson’s bourbon – a simple, yet substantial whiskey – with 3 additional hand-selected straight bourbons of varying mash bills and ages. This creates a whiskey of consistent quality while allowing for complex nuances to express themselves in each new batch. Our Very Small Batch is an approachable, easy-drinking and smooth bourbon whiskey that’s perfect whether enjoyed neat or in a cocktail, and enjoyed both by connoisseurs and people new to the premium bourbon market.

Benito himself an agronomist and engineer, oversees all of the farming tasks, from the germination of agave seed to maintaining the plantations of both agaves Chico Aguiar and Maximiliana. Joel is in charge of the tasks of the tavern, cooking, fermentation, and distillation come from his hand which he learned from Don Felix´s grandson. Don Felix was a legendary maestro in the area and mentored many distillers

UNRIVALLED SMOOTHNESS
Belvedere Vodka releases a new icon: Belvedere 10.

Paying tribute to Belvedere’s origins, Belvedere 10 is inspired by the vodka making process used in 1910 when the distillery was first established. That recipe has now been remastered for a new generation, who demands only the very best. Indeed, everything about the crafting of this rare spirit has been meticulously considered. The quest for perfection has led Belvedere’s expert’s distillers to specify the very best ingredients, conditions and production processes: one rye, one farm, one field, one harvest.

The spirit is then rested for exactly ten months to marry the unique flavours and elevate the velvety smooth mouthfeel.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Fascinating, multi-faceted aromas of coconut, cacao and vanilla with a hint of fresh lemon.

PALATE: An opulent and creamy mouthfeel leads to light honeyed sweetness, with bursts of caramel and green coffee.

Rooster Rojo Mezcal is handcrafted by Lopes Sosa Palenque, a small craft distillery in San Juan Del Rio Of Oaxaca, Mexico. Each bottle is signed by the Maestro Mezcalero (The Master Mezcal Maker) Rodolfo Lopez Juan which confirms that he has been following the correct production processes and signifies his approval that this liquid is perfect for mezcal aficionados around the world. The bottle is dark, similar to traditional clay bottles. The purpose of this is to prevent the liquid from being affected by direct sunlight and to ensure it is not visible to the ‘Bad Eye’ before Consumption. This is a Traditional Oaxacan Belief.

Maker Notes

When we began our wood experiments, one forest stood out from the rest. Jupilles became a French royal forest in the 14th century and then a national forest in 1791. This small but ancient forest is known for its tight-grain oak. Fine wine makers in France and around the world have been curating Jupilles oak for centuries. Our master alchemists worked to create a custom toast profile to match our high-rye bourbon profile. The combination is exquisite, approachable and drinkable.

We take high rye bourbon that is at least 6 years old and add custom toasted French Oak Staves for the last few months of aging to impart natural wood flavors of soft, sweet warm notes that play off of the underlying spice of the base bourbon. The layers of complexity on the nose are sure to arouse your palate and please a crowd of bourbon enthusiasts.

TASTING NOTES
