Driven by a desire to explore our extensive cool climate Sauvignon Blanc sources, we created this blend from some of our finest parcels to illuminate the fruit purity and varietal expression of our special sites. A wine of tension and drive providing immediate enjoyment, or rewarding with careful cellaring.

TASTING NOTES

APPEARANCE: Pale straw colour with brilliant green edges.

NOSE: The intense aromas of pink grapefruit, lychee, guava and white nectarine are enhanced by a touch of jasmine flower, camomile and fresh lime.

PALATE: On the palate flavours of lemon zest, passion fruit pips, citrus blossom and rockmelon with saline edges are displayed. The supple texture coupled with driving minerality create an elegant wine with a punchy citrus peel finish.

The History

Father Juan de San Miguel, a Franciscan missionary born in Spain, founded the original Indian settlement in 1542 and named it San Miguel Viejo after his patron saint. By the end of the 16th century, San Miguel was a booming town, flourishing with agriculture, ranching and tanneries. It was then renamed San Miguel el Grande.

Heroes of the Independence

The heroes of Mexico’s independence movement were born in San Miguel el Grande, including General Ignacio Allende, Father Miguel Hidalgo, José Marino and Juan Aldama. On March 8, 1826, the Guanajuato state government honored Allende’s heroism by renaming San Miguel El Grande to San Miguel de Allende.

The first tequila rested exclusively in Mizunara casks, a rare oak native to Japan, traditionally used for aging Japanese whiskies, Casa Dragones Reposado Mizunara, 100% Blue Agave Reposado tequila; This delicately rested tequila perfectly balances the minerality of our agave with the light notes of Japanese oak, for a refined, elegant sweetness that defies the ordinary.

An authentic 100% Blue Weber Agave tequila made in the Traditional Method. Produced with fully mature 7-10 year agave from 50% Highlands and 50% Lowlands of Jalisco, slow-roasted in brick ovens, slow-fermented, never diffused, roller press extraction, double distilled, Bourbon Barrel Aged 6 months, and additive free.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Initial nosing passes are orange blossom, with some basil evolving to hazelnut & nutmeg.

Palate: Palate entry is properly tart, acidic and lean; mid-palate features a strong firmly structured texture and flavor of honey oak, and vanilla bean yet with herbal agave notes still present.

Finish: Finishes long, with both some toffee and vegetal notes. A reposado whose naturally sweet disposition is its finest asset.New Paragraph

Rested 1 Month

Código 1530 Rosa begins with the purity of our Blanco, then is rested for 1 month in uncharred Napa Valley Cabernet French White Oak wine barrels. The result is a refined spirit with a natural color as beautiful as its taste. Our Rosa has rested just long enough in our fine Cabernet barrels to enrich the natural agave juice, without overpowering its delicate botanical balance.

Production Notes

We source only the finest Napa Cabernet French White Oak barrels to age our Rosa.

We leave our Rosa barrels uncharred, allowing the Cabernet to interact directly with the tequila, imparting a subtle pink hue and light floral finish.

Vuelo del Aviador crafts artisanal tequila of the highest quality in Jalisco, Mexico. Their lineup of luxury spirits consists of the Plata, Reposado, Aejo, and Extra Aejo. The finest blue weber agaves used are fully-matured, meaning they have been growing on the estate for 7 to 9 years. They are then cooked slowly in clay ovens for 72 hours before the pulp is fermented and distilled using copper-pot stills. The different juices then get aged for varying amounts of time, from the Plata which takes 4 months, to the Extra Aejo which takes 5 to 7 years. Different casks are used for maturation. These include French and American oak, Napa Valley red wine barrels, as well as whiskey casks. The Plata has won a Double Gold Medal at the 2020 edition of the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The Vuelo del Aviador Gran Reserva Extra Aejo is based on the same award-winning spirit as their Plata expression. This one is the crown jewel in their stellar lineup of tequila and their ultra-premium masterpiece. It's a blend of tequila that has spent 5 years in whiskey barrels and tequila that was aged for 7 years in red wine barrels, making for a luxurious drinking experience with a presentation to match. Bottled at 80 proof, the handcrafted spirit has enticing sherry notes on the nose, along with a palate that invokes XO cognac with plenty of dried fruit and oak notes.

The Tyrconnell is an elevated, yet approachable single malt whiskey, best enjoyed neat or on the rocks. This version of The Tyrconnell is aged 10 years, then is finished in casks previously used to age Madeira, a fortified wine hailing from a group of islands off the coast of Portugal. Bottled at 92 proof to bring out the flavour nuances of its casks, The Tyrconnell Madeira Cask Finish begins with a salty, red fruit flavour-filled nose before finishing dry, with prominent notes of cocoa, caramel, and allspice.

THE BENROMACH STORY

We are a traditional Speyside distillery owned by a family of whisky-lovers intent on making single malt the right way with true character.

We keep things simple. A handful of distillers relying entirely on our expertise and senses to make the finest handmade whisky; Speyside single malt matured exclusively in first-fill casks, with a subtly smoky character. It takes just four ingredients – barley, water, yeast, and a human touch.

All of our casks are hand-filled, individually weighed, stenciled by hand, and stowed in our traditional dunnage warehouses. Why? Because at Benromach we believe making whisky by hand guarantees genuine character.

OUR HISTORY

Our family, the Urquharts of Elgin, have always been passionate about whisky. Our ancestor John began laying down casks of single malt at different distilleries in 1915, when everyone else was blending their whiskies.

It was the realization of a long-held dream when we acquired Benromach Distillery in 1993. Five years of meticulous refitting of the distillery followed before HRH Prince Charles officially reopened our doors in 1998.

Time well spent creating a style of single malt reminiscent of the days before commercial maltings. A time when Speyside distilleries malted their own barley using peat to fuel the fires and impart a distinctive touch of smoke to their whiskies. The resurrection of Benromach Distillery signaled the rediscovery of a lost style of Speyside single malt.

Terroir Notes: Our Cypress fermentation tanks within our palenque are surrounded by tropical fruit trees endemic to Ejutla. These trees shed their yeast and pollen with add nuance and yeast strains into the fermentation process.

Situated on a ridge above the banks of the River Spey, the Easter Elchies House has been the spiritual home of The Macallan for over three centuries. In 1820, Alexander Reid began renting the home from Sir Lewis Grant of Grant. Reid was a farmer, and soon after he sowed the fields surrounding the home with barley, Reid established the first licensed distillery on the estate, which he named Macallan after an ancient church that had been destroyed by fire during the 15th century. In the winter when there was little activity on the farm Reid would ferment and distill his excess grains into whisky, which was often drunk straight from the still or sold to travelers passing through the town. Today, the Macallan Estate encompasses 370 acres, 95 of which are devoted to the production of the Macallan Estate's Minstrel barley (a single acre produces about 2.5 tons of barley each year, enough to yield 1,800 bottles of The Macallan). In addition, the distillery contracts with farmers to purchase barley that is low in nitrogen and high in starch, resulting in a rich and oily whisky. After the barley is harvested in late August and early September, it is malted before being mashed in one of The Macallan's two mash tuns, a process that takes between four and eight hours. Then, the barley is fermented with a specially cultured yeast before being distilled twice through The Macallan's copper-pot stills. The copper comprising the stills acts as a catalyst, and enhances the formation of sweet esters while minimizing impurities such as sulphur. In addition, the curiously small stills some of "the smallest stills within the Scotch whisky industry,"according to production manager Alexander Tweedie produce a whisky with a heavy, oily flavor. Following distillation, The Macallan distillers remove the heads and tails of the whisky and collect approximately 16% of the spirit to fill into casks for maturation. This cut," which is among the highest of any Scottish distillery, results in a more full-bodied and and rich whisky. This Double Cask Gold was released in 2018. The impeccably aged Scotch gets its rest in a combination of first fill and refill sherry casks. Pick up your bottle today!

Our Master of Botanicals, Ivano Tonutti, doesn’t just go the extra mile, he goes an extra thousand miles. He hand-selects the botanicals used in our gin and builds personal relationships with each grower. Once we’ve hand-selected the finest botanicals on earth, there’s no way we’re then going to boil them. We gently vapour infuse them to capture their bright, vibrant flavours.

From the heat of our cubeb berries from Java to the spice of our West African Grains of Paradise, every one of our ten precious botanicals are chosen to bring their own special something to our gin.
