It is a creamy liqueur,  pleasantly sweet and with a moderate alcohol content,  characterized by an intense aroma of pistachio. Pistachios are the fruit of a plant native of the Middle East, now growing  spontaneously on the Sicilian volcano Mount Etna. They have always  been renowned for their nutritional properties. Pistachios, exclusively  harvested in Sicily, are processed according to a traditional method and turned into a paste which preserves all their precious organoleptic  characteristics. The paste is then expertly mixed with alcohol, water  and sugar, creating a creamy, round, velvety liqueur with an intense an  inebriating aroma of Sicilian pistachios. With a final touch of grappa, Pistacchio Bottega gains a particular aromaticity, making it  unique and unmistakable.

In 1843 a grocer by the name of David Nicholson started distilling his original bourbon recipe in the private back room of his St. Louis general store on North 6th Street. Unbeknownst to its forefather, a legacy was born. Half a century his recipe had been passed down for generations. Eventually, the legendary Julian Pappy Van Winkle and W.L. Weller handcrafted Nicholson's iconic 43 bourbon at the Stitzel distillery. The Van Winkles owned the brand until 2000 when Luxco acquired it. Still possessing the outstanding character for which it earned its original popularity in 1843, the David Nicholson legacy lives on unchanged, unfettered, and unmatched. Aged in new charred oak barrels this wheated bourbon that provides unparalleled smooth flavor and finish. An incredible flavor profile that earned it at the Double Gold at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

TASTING NOTES

TO THE EYE: Expect a rich, golden brown colour in your bottle of Three Wood. What gives whisky its colour? As the Single Malt matures in the quality bourbon and sherry barrels, a new and complex colour and flavour profile is created over time.

TO THE NOSE: Blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin notes are present in our Three Wood.

TO THE TONGUE: Fruit and syrup. Hazelnut with hints of cinnamon and lemon.  A butterscotch sweetness adds to the overall complexity.

About the Brand

Central City Brewery’s master brewer Gary Lohin and master distiller Stuart McKinnon tag teamed to produce this single malt Canadian whisky. Gary takes care of producing a flavorful fermentation then passes it to Stuart who distills a full-bodied distillate. This single malt has been aged for three years in ex-bourbon barrels then bottled at 43%. Exclusive to Canada.
