Old Carter is the passion project of “flavor chaser” partners Mark Carter and Sherri Carter, whose beverage industry roots trace back to award-winning careers in the California wine business. After resurrecting the long-dormant bourbon brand Kentucky Owl in 2011, the two were irreversibly hooked on the art of whiskey making and blending. Kentucky Owl sold unexpectedly in 2017, but by then Sherri & Mark were so enamored with the vibrant spirit of Kentucky’s whiskey community, they made a commitment to carry on their love affair with whiskey by making a statement of their own, right in the Bluegrass. And Old Carter Whiskey Co was born.

Forget whiskey, poitín is Ireland’s best kept secret. It’s been knocking around since the 6th century, making it the oldest spirit in the world. Mad stuff.

FACTS & FABLES

First distilled by monks (God bless you lads), the Irish enjoyed their poitín for a thousand years before it was banned by the Brits in 1661. But we’re resilient feckers and poitín never really went away.

It remained part of Irish drinking culture and was given names like Cratur, Mountain Dew, Mountain Tea and Devil’s Spittle. And you always knew a man, who knew a man, that could get you a bottle. Now legal again, poitín can be found on backbars all across Ireland, instead of under the counter.

At Mad March Hare, we use only the finest, locally sourced malted barley and distill three times in small copper pot stills in the traditional way. We then cut the spirit with Irish spring water to 40% ABV resulting in a drink that is full of character and exceptionally smooth. Sláinte!

Extra Añejo Tequilas are aged at least 3 years in barrels, making the product itself at least 10 years old - accounting for the time agave takes to grow, at least 7 years - by the time it touches your glass.  Some extra añejos lean towards a cognac profile if given a heavier aging, while others that are more gently aged, simply are an extension of an añejo profile, but softer, sweeter, and with more presence of oak.  We suggest that these be sipped neat, or enjoyed with a single ice cube.

2019 brought another exceptional vintage to Napa Valley, resulting in wines with alluring polish and poise! The season began with a wet winter followed by a mild spring. While this led to a slightly later-than normal start to the season, ideal summer weather with no significant heat spikes ensured ideal flavor development, yielding complex and vibrant whites, and refined reds with elegant tannins, enticing aromatics and beautiful fruit flavors.

Du Nord is the brainchild of Chris Montana, who decided to open a distillery in his home city of Minneapolis in 2013. It's a family-run operation that combines Chris' city-smarts with Shanelle Montana's country spirit. The craft spirits company has since grown considerably from a garage-type distilling project and works to bring minorities and members of underrepresented communities into their family. The name Du Nord is a tribute to Minnesota's title of "The Star of the North." They offer tours of the Du Nord distillery and operate a Du Nord Cocktail room on the premises. Their lineup currently consists of the L'Etoile Du Nord sipping vodka, Fitzgerald Gin (a London dry and old world style hybrid), Apple Du Nord apple liqueur, and Caf Frieda coffee liqueur. Each and every one of these has garnered awards from some of the most prestigious spirits competitions. Du Nord Mixed Blood Blended Whiskey is the newest member of the Du Nord family. It's an in-house bourbon that has a high-rye mash bill and is blended with sourced whiskeys for a profile that is rye-forward, fruity, spicy, and pleasantly sweet. It's aged for two years before being bottled at 80 proof.

Embedded in the rolling Appalachian hills of Greenbrier County, West Virginia, Smooth Ambler Spirits is a testament to the hard-work and craftsmanship of TAG Galyean and John Little. Working in their state-of-the-art, 5,200 square foot distillery, Galyean and Little combine innovative techniques with locally-sourced grains and a hands-on distillation process to produce remarkable spirits that are bold, complex and perfectly balanced. Old Scout Straight Bourbon Whiskey is steeped in the tradition of the Highland Valley. Together, Galyean and Little hand-selected casks of six and seven year-old small-batch bourbon composed of a mashbill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley. Afterwards, the two distillers blended the bourbon with local mountain water and bottled each bottle by hand at a robust 99 proof (49.5% ABV). The high rye content of Old Scout Straight Bourbon Whiskey gives it an exceptional taste and smoothness, preserved by non-chill and non-carbon filtering. The bourbon has an aroma of tobacco, which opens up to sweet notes of apples and cherries that are nicely balanced by hints of spicy rye, cinnamon and oak. The finish, which is long and flavorful, has notes of baking spices, sweet almond extract and eucalyptus. Old Scout Straight Bourbon Whiskey earned a score of 95 points by Wine Enthusiast and earned the Gold Medal from the American Distilling Institute.

After inheriting the family recipe in the late 1980s, Tom Bulleit set out to make his own version of the Bulleit Bourbon. "We have a distilling tradition in the family," says Bulleit. "It seems kind of odd that one would have a family recipe for bourbon, but in our part of Kentucky everyone has one." Today they produce a range of four Bourbons and one Rye Whiskey that have received numerous awards, and have become the Spirits of choice for cocktail drinkers around the world. Bulleit Ten Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is made from a mash of corn, rye and malted barley. After the grains are harvested, they are mashed and fermented with a unique strain of family yeast. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled through a copper-still before being matured in charred, American oak casks for a minimum of ten years. "I may be biased, but I think Bulleit Bourbon is incredible at its traditional age of five to eight years," says Bulleit. "But it was exciting to see what happened to a select number of barrels aged a little longer. The result was a special expression of our family's bourbon that exceeded our expectations and we knew we had to bottle it and share it with our loyal fans." Bulliet Ten Year Old Bourbon has a dark caramel color, along with an aroma of toasted oak, rich caramel and sweet fruits. The notes of woody spices, cloves and oak give way to hints of dried fruits, light vanilla and spicy rye on the palate, and lead to a long, slightly sweet finish. The bourbon earned a score of 92 points from the Beverage Testing Institute in 2013, and a score of 91 points from Wine Enthusiast. In addition, Forbes Magazine called it "one of the best bourbons." "There's a difference between aging and maturity, and we'll never bottle bourbon until it's ready to reach the customer," says Bulleit.

STRAIGHT AGED IN EX-RYE BARRELS .
