Named after Baker Beam, it made its debut in the Beam's Small Batch Collection in 1992. The transition to a single barrel bourbon occurred in 2019, with the introduction of the limited 13-year edition in both 2019 and 2023. Baker's Single Barrel 13 Years Minimum Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, boasting 107 proof, presents the expected rich bourbon characteristics. Despite its 13-year aging, the prevalent oak influence, starting sweet and transitioning to a drier note in the finish, does not overpower. Far from being labeled as "over-oaked," the bourbon achieves balance with ample brown sugar, burnt caramel, and subtle fruity undertones, resulting in a nuanced and enjoyable selection.

Tullamore, in Ireland's Midlands, was once ruled by Clan O'Molloy. On May 10, 1785, a hot air balloon crash ignited a fire, leading to the world's first aviation disaster. The city adopted a phoenix as its coat of arms, symbolizing resilience. Tullamore DEW Distillery, founded 50 years later at the crash site, uses malted barley, unmalted barley, and corn to craft its whiskey. The grains are milled, mashed, and fermented in wooden washbacks. Triple distillation in copper-pot stills intensifies the alcohol content and flavors. Tullamore DEW 18 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey matures in Madeira, Oloroso, and Port casks, offering an aroma of malt, oak, apples, and tobacco, with a palate of tropical fruit, vanilla, butter, and a long sherry finish.

Bourbon distinguishes itself from regular American whiskey through its requirement for aging in new, charred white American oak barrels. Michter's Whiskey, specifically their US*1 Unblended Small Batch American, goes beyond the standard rules by deviating from the 80% ABV requirement. Located in Kentucky, Michter's has an old distillery and produces whiskey that is unique because it's aged in bourbon-soaked barrels and bottled at an exact 83.4 proof, making it stand out. They also have a meticulous production process, using custom-made, well-dried barrels and a unique chill filtration technique. This whiskey maintains its distinct character and offers rich butterscotch and vanilla notes at 41.7% ABV.

In the 18th century, a Swiss Mennonite farmer named John Shenk established his family near Pennsylvania's Blue Mountain Valley. Over the years, Shenk found himself with a surplus of grains and began distilling the excess into whiskey. This distillery, eventually named Michter's Distillery, went on to become the United States' inaugural distilling company. Just two decades after its inception, General George Washington turned to Michter's Distillery Whiskey to fortify his troops during a challenging winter at Valley Forge, earning the distillery the moniker of the whiskey that warmed the American Revolution.

The advent of Prohibition in 1919 led to the closure of Michter's Distillery, along with numerous others across the United States. However, in the early 1990s, Joseph J. Magliocco and Richard Newman collaborated to resurrect the brand. Magliocco shared, "When we established our whiskey program for Michter's Distillery, Dick and I aimed to return to the 'cost be damned' origins and produce the finest whiskey possible. Our objective was to demonstrate that American whiskey could rival the best from anywhere in the world."

Michter's Distillery 20 Year Old Bourbon, masterfully crafted by distiller Willie Pratt, reflects Pratt's meticulous approach to maturation developed over his forty-year distilling career, earning him the nickname "Dr. No" for his tendency to reject aging barrels that don't meet his standards. Pratt explains that whiskey aged for over a decade faces a critical juncture, where it can either become extraordinary or unsuitable. Magliocco adds, "We reject barrels that are excessively woody or lack consistency. Willie identified a barrel that tasted delightful but had the consistency of molasses, which we obviously couldn't sell."

Michter's Distillery 20 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon, sourced and curated by Pratt, displays a rich amber hue and releases a bouquet of coffee, vanilla beans, and smoked chips. The palate is dominated by spicy notes, complemented by hints of milk chocolate, citrus, molasses, and caramel. The medium-long finish features touches of chewy leather, smoked dates, and oak, culminating in a remarkable expression of aged bourbon craftsmanship.

During the 17th century, Cornelius Van Brunt one of the founding fathers of Brooklyn farmed land alongside the banks of Gowanus Creek, while helping forge the eclectic society that became Brooklyn. In the 1800s, as the population of New York mushroomed and its waterways became vital hubs for maritime travel, the Brooklyn waterfront became home to some gin, rum, and whiskey distilleries. Prohibition forced the distillery to close, and it wasnt until the new 21st century that distillation resumed. Opened in 2012 Van Brunt Stillhouse honors the pioneering spirit of Cornelius Van Brunt, one of the founding fathers of the area. Founded by Daric Schlesselman who first began by producing the first Rum from Brooklyn since the Prohibition era. Soon after releasing the rum, the brand started producing other spirits such as Grappa and other grain distillates. Daric, a former editor at The Daily Show, left behind the world of television and followed his dreams of reincarnating the of Spirits of the past. This special four grain Brooklyn Stillhouse whiskey is distilled primarily from malted barley and wheat, with a small portion of corn, and rye for good measure. This four grain recipe harkens back to a pre industrial farmhouse style (producer). Expect grassy, floral notes alongside fresh oaky, bourbon sweetness followed by hints of tobacco, and a delicate, lingering finish. 

In 1805, the Mitchell & Sons Wine Merchants Company was established in the heart of Dublin, Ireland. By the turn of the 19th century, the Mitchells sold a range of Irish whiskeys under the name "Spot." This name originated from the company's practice of marking casks of different ages with a spot of colored paint. As a result, Mitchell & Sons sold whiskies named Blue Spot, Green Spot, Red Spot and finally Yellow Spot, which was last seen in the mid-to-late 1960s. Today, Yellow Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey continues to be crafted in the heart of Ireland. The whiskey is made from malted and unmalted barley, which are milled and mashed before being triple-distilled through a traditional pot still. Following distillation, the whiskey is matured for 12 years the Yellow Spot brand was always aged for this amount of time in a combination of American Bourbon casks, Spanish sherry butts and Spanish Malaga casks. The inclusion of the single pot still spirit aged in Spanish Malaga casks gives Yellow Spot its famously sweet character. After the various casks have been blended together, Yellow Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is bottled at 92 proof, just a bit higher than other traditional Irish whiskies which are bottled at 90 proof. "Pot Still Whiskeys define the traditional flavor character of Irish whiskey and we have seen a renewed interest and growth in the category over the last few years," says Brian Nation, the master distiller at Midleton Distillery, which makes Yellow Spot Whiskey. Yellow Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey has an aroma of red bell peppers, nutmeg, green tea and sweet peaches from the Malaga casks. On the palate, there is a honey sweetness accented by cloves, baked apples, milk chocolate, coffee and creme brulee. The finish is dry and complex, with notes of toasted oak, red grapes and barley. Yellow Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey was released in the United States in 2015 in extremely limited quantities. The whiskey was named Irish Whiskey of the Year by Whisky Advocate in 2016, in addition to winning Gold in the Wizards of Whiskey competition that same year.

Being exposed to great temperature fluctuations, results in greater movement of spirit in and out of the barrel staves. Aging occurs in cycles, during times of increased temperature such as in the summer, the whiskey expands through the char, through to the untreated wood beneath. While in the wood, the whiskey dissolves various flavorful compounds. When temperatures drop, the liquid contracts and brings out all of the flavors of the wood, producing flavors that complement the body of the whiskey. Four Roses Distillery is a special place with a special page in history. One of only six distilleries that were permitted to operate during Prohibition to produce medicinal Bourbon, it has an intriguing history. Sitting on the banks of the Salt River in the serene rural part of Kentucky, it saw ups and downs, until it was resurrected in 2002.

The first whiskey distilled in Dublin in nearly 50 years from small batch, hand selected barrels featuring our founder's signature on the pack. John Emerald Distilling Company is a family-run small batch craft distillery from Opelika, Alabama that has been operational since 2014. It is the first legal distillery that opened in the state since the end of the Prohibition era, a year short of a hundred years later. It all started when John and his son Jimmy Sharp, both homebrewers, started looking into opening a brewery. Finding the market to be oversaturated, they turned to craft distilling instead and started rigorous training and education. They came upon an old cotton warehouse in Opelika, a small and business-friendly town where the mayor welcomed them with open arms. The distillery now operates on 8 thousand square feet and has a tasting room that is open for visitors. They produce several spirits using their 350-gallon hybrid pot, each product named after one of John's and Jimmy's ancestors their (grand) father John Emerald Sharp, a successful businessman, being the distillery's namesake. The spirits include award-winning gin, vodka, rum, and single malt. At the very core of their lineup is the John Emerald Alabama Single Malt Whiskey, the only one to share the name with the distillery itself. The style is between bourbon and Scotch whisky, or as they like to call it American single malt. A part of the 100% malted barley grain recipe is smoked with peach and pecan wood, and Alabama wine barrel staves are added for a touch of smoke and added complexity. The spirit then matures in Missouri Ozark charred oak barrels in a room that simulates the changing of seasons with variable temperature.

At 80 proof Blanton’s Special Reserve is ideal for those new to single barrel bourbons. It has a slightly floral nose that conveys whispers of cedar and raisin in between soft vanilla notes. The palate has a light airy feel to it. The taste of vanilla and toffee dance around subtle notes of dried fruit and white pepper. Marko Karakasevic, the 13th generation Master Distiller, created the Wolves' Malted Barley Series in 2011 with the first 12 barrels, followed by 12 more lots of 8-12 barrels. Each lot was distilled over 10 days in a small, copper pot still from Cognac, France, producing a rich, thick distillate. The series is unique, with variations in barley sources, yeasts, and maltings. The barrels, sourced from top cooperages in Napa Valley, were toasted and charred in six different levels, resulting in noticeable differences across each lot. Each bottle is hand-wrapped in a sheepskin label and numbered by hand in Los Angeles.

Copper Tongue hails from the historic Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tullahoma, Tennessee. The distillery is nestled in a valley with a spring-fed creek in an area known for it's population of copperhead snakes. Tasting Notes

Nose: Deep Cherry, maple, nutty almonds, burnt apple, burnt brown sugar and lingering oak.

Great whiskey starts with the water, and Jameson's life source is the Dungourney River, which flows through the Midleton distillery and plays a vital role in the production process.

Barley
Jameson is one of a handful of whiskeys in the world produced using a combination of malted and unmalted barley. The barley comes from farms located within 100 miles of the Jameson distillery, many of which have produced barley for centuries. The use of unmalted barley is a long-standing Irish tradition and one which Jameson continues, believing it contributes to the smooth characteristics of the whiskey.

Maize
And though Jameson aims to keep ingredients sourced as locally as possible, maize is a sun-loving crop. Since Ireland isn't particularly well known for sunshine, Jameson uses non-genetically modified maize from the Bayonne region in the south of France.
