Devils River Cinnamon Bourbon Whiskey starts with our award-winning sinfully smooth Devils River Bourbon which uses the exceptionally pure, fresh limestone-filtered water from the Devils River. We infuse our whiskey with all-natural flavors and add a touch of unfiltered Blue Weber Agave nectar from Jalisco, Mexico. The result is our sinfully smooth “Sin-namon” Whiskey which provides a little bit of spice on the palate, rounds out with a kiss of sweetness, and a touch of heat in the finish. J.W. Rutledge Distillery was founded by former Four Roses master distiller Jim Rutledge. As the construction of their new sustainable distillery is underway (a facility that utilizes clean technologies like geothermal heating and cooling, solar energy, and biomass energy), Jim Rutledge sources and blends whiskey from other distilleries to put out new releases under the J.W. Rutledge brands, beginning with Cream of Kentucky. Their aim is to produce Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Straight Rye Whiskey the old-fashioned way relative to the requisites, guidelines and standards for Straight Whiskey production that have been in place for close to two centuries. The Cream of Kentucky label was first introduced in 1888 by I. Trager & Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. Before Prohibition ended, the brand was picked up by the renowned Schenley Company and re-introduced to the industry in 1934. Cream of Kentucky reached great success in the 30s and 40s, using the work of famed artist Norman Rockwell. Cream of Kentucky is now owned by J.W. Rutledge, who has recently secured a limited supply of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey he feels is worthy of the rebirth of Cream of Kentucky Bourbon as a premium whiskey. Cream of Kentucky is an 11.5-year-old straight bourbon blend of 60 barrels. Bottled at 102 proof, this bourbon has notes of sweet cherries, vanilla, and dry tannins followed by a floral cracked pepper finish.

The bonds of our friendship strengthened while drinking bourbon. For years, we dreamed of making our own bourbon and how we wanted it to taste. Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. is widely considered one of the founding fathers of the bourbon industry, fighting for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, nearly three decades after he purchased what is now called Buffalo Trace Distillery. During his time, Taylor implemented several innovative methods still used today, including climate controlled aging warehouses. Many of the barrels selected for the E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel are aged in Warehouse C, which was built by Taylor in 1881 and proven to be an excellent aging warehouse. Each barrel is hand-picked and Bottled in Bond at 100 proof to honor its namesake.

TASTING NOTES

The aroma carries lightly toasted oak, with dried figs and butterscotch. One sip brings flavors of sweetness balanced with tobacco and dark spices. The finish is just long enough to prepare the palate for another sip. The bottle itself is a likeness to Colonel Taylor's original design used over a century ago.

Frontera is an annual limited release. We take Whiskey Del Bac Classic American Single Malt Whiskey originally aged in new American White Oak, then finish it in Pedro Ximénez Sherry botas. This American Single Malt is named after the medieval city, Jerez de la Frontera, which sits on what was once the edge of Spain and is known as the world capital of sherry wine. There are 1,200 bottles nationwide. Each has an ABV of 48.5% and is 97 proof.

This elegant spirit was distilled from a mash of corn, rye, and malt and placed in new, charred American oak barrels to age in our single-story warehouses. As a result of the curious conditions experienced by these barrels during the aging process, the proof dropped below the minimum standard to be called a whisky. The result is a complex and sophisticated spirit with a light and easy drinking character.

About this Chapter 7 Whisky

Blair Athol is one of Diageo's workhorse distilleries. Much of its malt whisky ends up in Bell's blended scotch. It's a beautiful distillery built in 1798 in Pitlochry. Majority of Blair Athol casks destined for blending are ex-bourbon barrels. It has a nutty character resulting from cloudy worts and short fermentation. Allowing controlled levels of solids coming across in the wash still adds a deep, rich meat loaf character.

Housed in a uniquely designed basketball decanter; each bottle is individually blown and formed in the shape of a professional basketball. Every bottle sits on a raised pedestal base which is a classic rendition of a professional basketball court and includes a replica pebbled- leather stopper. The Castle Hill Series Batch Two, the second release of our limited-edition batch of 13-year-old hand-selected straight bourbon whiskies bottled at barrel proof. It celebrates the art of batching well-aged casks, one of the many methods Milam & Greene enlists to create its award-winning range of whiskies. The series is named for the historic Texas Military Institute, also known as “The Castle,” in Austin, Texas that is home to Heather Greene’s blending lab.

Milam & Greene The Castle Hill Series Batch Two shines in the glass with a deep burnt amber color. On the nose it is a dichotomy of youthful vigor and aged splendor with scents of warm peach cobbler, brown sugar, and vanillas with hints of almond and milk chocolate. Bottled at cask strength of 111 proof (55.5 % ABV), this potent straight bourbon whiskey features velvety, opulent flavors of caramel, cinnamon, cherry, vanilla, and tobacco with a warming and long finish.   

Just 26 vintage barrels were married to create this superb whiskey, making it our most limited release. The Castle Hill Series carries the oldest age statement in the Milam & Greene family of whiskies, and each batch includes the distillery’s most exclusive casks.
