Just like our Old Cockney Gin we use a proprietary blend of botanicals and an all organic wheat base.  We then rest our gin in new American oak barrels for a minimum of 6 months before we bottle.  The oak aging adds a very subtle toasted vanilla note and accentuates the citrus peel. Just steps from where Albany's first distillery an 18th-century rum distillery was once located, John Curtin and Rich Sicari, owners and distillers of Albany Distilling Co., are making the region's first local spirits since Prohibition, and are recapturing New York State's rich distilling heritage in the process. A self-described modest operation, Curtin and Sicari proudly craft their spirits one small batch at a time. Their emphasis on local sourcing and production is evident in their collaboration with Death Wish Coffee Co., another Albany-based business which purportedly brews the world's strongest coffee. Curtin and Sicari have been lending their expertise to Death Wish's Barrel Brand, which uses coffee beans aged in freshly-poured oak barrels from Albany Distilling Co., drawing out much of the spirit's flavor. Building off the success of this revolutionary idea, Albany Distilling Co. and Death Wish Coffee Co. have teamed up once again to create Death Wish Coffee Vodka. It seemed like a natural progression, says Curtin. Death Wish Coffee Vodka is made by marrying Albany Distilling Co.'s ALB Vodka, which is made from American corn and distilled six times, with Death Wish Coffee Co.'s cold-brew coffee. The result is a soft, bittersweet vodka with notes of chocolate, honey and coffee beans persisting from the nose all the way through the finish.

Named after Baker Beam, it made its debut in the Beam's Small Batch Collection in 1992. The transition to a single barrel bourbon occurred in 2019, with the introduction of the limited 13-year edition in both 2019 and 2023. Baker's Single Barrel 13 Years Minimum Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, boasting 107 proof, presents the expected rich bourbon characteristics. Despite its 13-year aging, the prevalent oak influence, starting sweet and transitioning to a drier note in the finish, does not overpower. Far from being labeled as "over-oaked," the bourbon achieves balance with ample brown sugar, burnt caramel, and subtle fruity undertones, resulting in a nuanced and enjoyable selection.

With its elegant arch-shape decanter, Martell XO has a distinctly architectural quality, and reflects the House's invitation to elevate. The contrasting slender shape of the silver top gives the decanter a delicate aesthetic balance. This sensational blend includes eaux-de-vie from Martell's four main terroirs, but is marked by a subtle balance between the elegance and roundness of the old Borderies eaux-de-vie, and the intensity typical of those from Grande Champagne. Martell XO begins with a nose of ground black pepper and coriander, then moves along to a rounded and fruity palate reminiscent of figs and walnuts. In the 18th century, a Swiss Mennonite farmer named John Shenk established his family near Pennsylvania's Blue Mountain Valley. Over the years, Shenk found himself with a surplus of grains and began distilling the excess into whiskey. This distillery, eventually named Michter's Distillery, went on to become the United States' inaugural distilling company. Just two decades after its inception, General George Washington turned to Michter's Distillery Whiskey to fortify his troops during a challenging winter at Valley Forge, earning the distillery the moniker of the whiskey that warmed the American Revolution.

The advent of Prohibition in 1919 led to the closure of Michter's Distillery, along with numerous others across the United States. However, in the early 1990s, Joseph J. Magliocco and Richard Newman collaborated to resurrect the brand. Magliocco shared, "When we established our whiskey program for Michter's Distillery, Dick and I aimed to return to the 'cost be damned' origins and produce the finest whiskey possible. Our objective was to demonstrate that American whiskey could rival the best from anywhere in the world."

Michter's Distillery 20 Year Old Bourbon, masterfully crafted by distiller Willie Pratt, reflects Pratt's meticulous approach to maturation developed over his forty-year distilling career, earning him the nickname "Dr. No" for his tendency to reject aging barrels that don't meet his standards. Pratt explains that whiskey aged for over a decade faces a critical juncture, where it can either become extraordinary or unsuitable. Magliocco adds, "We reject barrels that are excessively woody or lack consistency. Willie identified a barrel that tasted delightful but had the consistency of molasses, which we obviously couldn't sell."

Michter's Distillery 20 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon, sourced and curated by Pratt, displays a rich amber hue and releases a bouquet of coffee, vanilla beans, and smoked chips. The palate is dominated by spicy notes, complemented by hints of milk chocolate, citrus, molasses, and caramel. The medium-long finish features touches of chewy leather, smoked dates, and oak, culminating in a remarkable expression of aged bourbon craftsmanship.

To maintain an unadulterated flavor of the whiskey, Taconic never chill filters, and distill their whiskeys below 160 proof to retain the flavors from the grains. It is the flavor of the grains that are transferred through the distilling process as fatty molecules or flavor oils which results in a cloudiness in the whiskey. Those flavors are transferred through the distilling process as fatty molecules (flavor oils). Some distillers will chill filter the fatty molecules and sacrifice a certain amount of flavor for clarity. Taconic uses distinct Coopers Select, Char #3 new oak barrels made by the Independent Stave Company. Their barrels have a unique maturation process; aged in shipping containers. Less is lost to the angel's share, due to the saturation of the air inside the containers. Being exposed to great temperature fluctuations, results in greater movement of spirit in and out of the barrel staves. Aging occurs in cycles, during times of increased temperature such as in the summer, the whiskey expands through the char, through to the untreated wood beneath. While in the wood, the whiskey dissolves various flavorful compounds. When temperatures drop, the liquid contracts and brings out all of the flavors of the wood, producing flavors that complement the body of the whiskey. AMASS Dry Gin is a celebration of both the abundant natural terroir and diverse cultural landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Crafted in Downtown L.A. by Master Distiller Morgan McLachlan, our Dry Gin is a citrus-forward, herbaceous spirit balanced with earthy umami notes from Reishi mushroom and lion’s mane mushroom. Of the 29 organic botanicals inside the bottle, 11 come from California, with several growing in Morgan’s own backyard.

The corn base spirit is distilled with indigenous botanicals like California bay and cascara sagrada to ground vibrant flavors such as hibiscus, cardamom, cacao, and ginger, painting a vivid palate of the rich multicultural fabric that is the sprit of the City of Angels.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Vibrant and fresh, with a citrus-forward welcome.

PALATE : Citrus to the fore, supported by spicy notes of cardamom. California Bay Leaf provides an herbaceous quality on the middle of the palate. Gin opens with less heat on the front palate, but warms up to provide the necessary heat on the mid- and rear palate.

FINISH: Mushrooms and Long Pepper settle on the rear palate for a peppery finish with earthy undertones.

The story of Nevada H & C Distilling Co. begins in 2004 when the screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh met co-founder Aaron Chepenik in a bar in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles. They quickly realized they had the same vision of opening a bar, opening The Griffin together. After a couple years of sampling their inventory, they began discussing what they liked and didn't like about the bourbons and vodkas they were selling. One night, the idea of creating their own spirits popped up, which eventually led to them opening the first distillery in the city of Las Vegas. The City Council had to create a license especially for them since none existed beforehand. It took them 6 years of gathering equipment and setting it up, with several hurdles along the way. The bright side was that by the time they opened their doors they had several high-rye bourbons ready, which meant they could begin operating immediately. They have two brands under their belt now, both with several medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition: Silver Dollar American Vodka and Smoke Wagon. The latter comprises several bourbons, including the Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon Whiskey which was released in 2019. Their entry-level expression showcases the signature Smoke Wagon profile with sweet notes and rye spice. The high-rye mash bill spirit was racked on the top 2 floors of their warehouse and never rotated, letting the hot summer days work their magic on the wood and the liquid within. Bottled without chill-filtration at 92.5 proof, it has won a Double Gold Medal at the 2020 edition of the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. 

To be considered an Añejo, a typical Tequila must be in a barrel for no less than one year. Many other premium Tequilas age their Añejo for 15-18 months. Artfully blended in with ours is also Añejo aged for no less than 30 months. To develop our remarkable touches of cinnamon, smoke and vanilla, we also delicately blend in a small amount of bourbon-cask and cognac-cask aged Tequila. The result is an Añejo of perfect, rich smoothness. We think this is a standout spirit for relaxing with your choice of premium cigar.
