In 1815, the Johnston brothers leased 1,000 acres on Islay to raise cattle. They grew barley for feed but ended up distilling surplus grains into whisky. Laphroaig was born. For over a century, the distillery remained family-owned. In 1954, Ian Hunter bequeathed it to Bessie Williamson, who guarded its secrets. Laphroaig Single Malt is a robust, intensely flavored whisky made from Islay peat. Malted and smoked on the island, it's fermented and twice-distilled in unique copper-pot stills. Laphroaig Lore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, an homage to past distillery managers, is aged in a variety of casks. This crafting process results in a smoky, oceanic aroma with a palate rich in bitter chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, and roasted chestnuts, all culminating in a finish graced with malt grain, chocolate chip cookies, tropical fruit, and the unmistakable presence of peat. Tullamore, in Ireland's Midlands, was once ruled by Clan O'Molloy. On May 10, 1785, a hot air balloon crash ignited a fire, leading to the world's first aviation disaster. The city adopted a phoenix as its coat of arms, symbolizing resilience. Tullamore DEW Distillery, founded 50 years later at the crash site, uses malted barley, unmalted barley, and corn to craft its whiskey. The grains are milled, mashed, and fermented in wooden washbacks. Triple distillation in copper-pot stills intensifies the alcohol content and flavors. Tullamore DEW 18 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey matures in Madeira, Oloroso, and Port casks, offering an aroma of malt, oak, apples, and tobacco, with a palate of tropical fruit, vanilla, butter, and a long sherry finish.

The principal author of the Declaration of Independence and one of the greatest Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson was elected the third President of the United States in 1800. During his tenure, Jefferson authorized the purchase of the Louisiana Territory, dispatched Lewis and Clark westward in order to explore the remainder of the continent and repealed the Whisky Excise Tax. After Jefferson retired from public office in 1815, he often tended to the garden that he had cultivated on his Monticello estate. At the time, it was customary for wealthy farmers, including Jefferson, to distill the excess grains they harvested from their farms into spirits (George Washington was one of the country's largest distillers of rye whiskey). As a result, each farmer's spirits were unique and reflected the local terroir of their farm. The Jefferson's brand pays homage to Jefferson and the exquisite whiskey he distilled. Thomas Jefferson was also known to be quite the wine aficionado. As America's first ambassador to France, he fell in love with the finest wines Bordeaux had to offer. He became particularly enamored with the wines of the Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron vineyards, known for producing elegant, tannic forward Bordeaux wines. His true love was a particular Chateau Pichon Baron, a red wine of world class quality. Jefferson's Bourbon is a blender and bottler of spirits. Launched in 1997 by Trey and his father Chet Zoeller, a bourbon historian. First released in 1997, Jefferson's has several offerings in their lineup, and utilizes very innovative and experimental blending and aging techniques. Trey Zoeller likes to mix things up at Jefferson's, experimenting with a variety of wood treatments used to mature their whiskeys. Through this experimentation, Zoeller taps into the vast uncharted potential of the whiskey industry, delivering highly nuanced, artful spirits. He chose the Pichon Baron wine and toasted French oak wine cask staves to complement the complexity of their Kentucky Straight Bourbon. And the result is nothing short of harmonious. A limited number barrels are hand-selected for the process, being refilled with Jefferson's Reserve and aged in a hot box environment, creating a truly distinct whiskey, combining the robust flavors of the Bordeaux, the wood notes of both American and French oak and the grain of a premium bourbon in a delicious, complex and balanced final product (producer).

Founded in 2010 in Seattle, WA, Westland Distillery mashes, distills, matures and bottles American Single Malt Whiskey in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. Situated in the SoDo neighborhood of Seattle, Westland's 13,000 square foot distillery boasts a 5,000 mash-house, five 10,000 liter fermenters and two copper pot stills. It's here where Westland's Master Distiller Matt Hofmann crafts the distillery's core American Single Malt Whiskey. Like single malt Scotch, American single malt whiskey is made using a malted barley made at a single distillery. American single malt whiskeys, however, are less regulated, allowing more room for experimentation. With a specialty mash bill of Washington Select Pale Malt, Munich Malt, Extra Special Malt, pale chocolate malt, brown malt, and peated malt, their specialty Garryana-aged single malt is fermented with Belgian Brewer's Yeast for a total of 144 hours, and aged partially in a distinct oak. Garryana is the embodiment of provenance, an expression of the Pacific Northwestboth its land and its culturein whiskey (producer). This limited edition series of bottlings explores the nature of the unique species of native oak, Quercus garryana (also known as Garry or Oregon oak), and its unique influence on the cornerstone elements of Westland's distinctive house style of American single malt. This 2018 edition of Westland's single malt Garryana whiskey is comprised of 52% pale malt aged in 1st fill ex-bourbon Quercus alba, 27% Westland's proprietary five malt aged in Virgin Quercus alba (new American oak), and 21% pale malt aged in Virgin Quercus garryana. Real Minero is a family-operated producer of mezcal that is famed in Mexico and over the globe as one of the finest producers of the spirit. They are based in Santa Catarina Minas, where they employ traditional practices in making only around 300 liters of mezcal per month. They started distilling in the 1970s but the family has been involved in the farming of agaves far longer. Their mezcal is certified organic and they participate in programs that deal with agave reforestation. They have played a large role in bringing back several types of agaves that were thought to be extinct. Today, Edgar Angeles has had the baton passed to him by his late father Don Lorenzo Angeles and continues making the finest mezcal. Their mezcal is made in small batches using small 70-liter clay pot stills. The Mezcal Real Minero Largo is crafted by Mezcalero Edgar Angeles from 100% 14-year-old Largo agaves, which is an extremely rare species of the Karwinski family. The spirit is rested in glass before being bottled, which softens the profile considerably. It's fruity and tropical, yet delicate and mineral-rich a beautiful, premium spirit that is laced with tradition.

This extremely rare wild mezcal is silky, elegant, medium-bodied, with a long, dry, clean, dusty finish. Details: This special limited edition is crafted in the remote San Luis del Rio, Oaxaca. The maguey Papalometl is named in Nahuatl for the butterfly (papalotl), Scientific name: agave Cupreata and looks like a giant Tobala. Distillation takes place in a stainless pot with a clay condensor and Carrizo (Mexican bamboo) tube. Earthy, dark and delicious. The nose is like sinking into a rich leather chair. A palate of leather, slate, a hint of black olive and meatiness. A medium long finish starting with slightly sweet notes of dark dried black cherries that gives way to an earthy, savory mushroom.

Kentucky Owl was founded by Charles Mortimer Dedman, a local pharmacist, in 1879. After marrying his wife, Dedman was given a large parcel of land on the banks of the Kentucky River, as a wedding gift from his adopted father who was a local town judge. C.M. Dedman Distillery was established here on the banks of the Kentucky River, producing "The Wise Man's Bourbon" under Distilled Spirits Plant Designation "No. 16," one of Kentucky's original distilleries and part of a booming industry. Kentucky Owl achieved much success and production continued until Prohibition halted distillation. The family-run facility was no match for the "forces of teetotalism, temperance and eventually, the Feds" (producer). In 1916, Prohibition left several local distilleries with ample reserves of bourbon. As for Kentucky Owl, approximately 250,000 gallons of bourbon were left over in various stages of aging. Today these reserves would be worth about $40 million in inventory. After Federal agents descended on the Dedman's distillery, the bourbon was seized and shipped up the river by barge to the state capital in Frankfort for "safekeeping" in a warehouse. This batch of Kentucky Owl Straight Rye was released in September of 2017. The nose features elements of sweet pine, honey, nougat, vanilla, cloves, and lavender, followed by oaky undertones, subtle cedar sawdust or fresh split cedar. This rye is unique in that it offers rich aromas, without being too forwardly spicy on the nose. The palate is flush with immediate, mouthcoating notes of nutmeg and cinnamon, followed by pepper spice with vanilla on the front and anise across the middle. Subtle cinnamon spice clings to the finish.
