The Sassenach Select is a double wood reposado that is handcrafted using the finest matured agave from the highlands of Jalisco and mineral-rich water from volcan de tequila, distilled in traditional copper pot stills, aged for two years in American oak barrels, and finished for four months in French oak barrels. The Sassenach Select marks the first-ever joint venture between the acclaimed teams at El Tequileño and The Sassenach Spirits. During several trips to Mexico, Antonio "Tony" Salles and the Scottish actor and spirits aficionado Sam Heughan joined forces. Salles reveals that the inception of this unique blend began with their shared appreciation for The Sassenach whisky. Despite the geographical distance, they merged their respective cultures and unwavering commitment to creating exceptional spirits, all with the aim of doing justice to this innovative creation.

To breathe life into this expression, they began with an award-winning foundation. Salles shares his inspiration from learning about the meticulous process behind The Sassenach whisky and immersing himself in Scottish tales. "The Scottish and Mexican cultures bear striking similarities," notes Salles. "Both hold tremendous pride in their nations, boast deep-rooted histories, and, of course, possess an immense passion for producing their iconic spirits." The Sassenach Select is meticulously handcrafted using the finest matured agave sourced from the Highlands of Jalisco, complemented by mineral-rich water from El Volcán de Tequila. Distilled in traditional copper pot stills, it undergoes a two-year aging process in American oak barrels, culminating with a finishing period in French oak barrels.
