Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old holds a special place in our hearts. First launched in 1979, the Bunnahabhain 12 year old has endured almost 40 years, thanks to the passion and dedication of our distillery team, not to mention the love and support from our fans and friends around the world.

Our 12 Year Old has set the tone and the benchmark for the rest of the range – only the best will do. Double Matured in Ex Bourbon and Ex Sherry Casks, this whisky is beautifully rich and full-bodied, achieving the perfect balance of the characteristic nutty and sherry flavours of Bunnahabhain.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Russet gold

Nose: Fresh and aromatic, fruity floral with hints of dried fruit and a subtle prevalence of smoke.

Palate: Light with fruit notes, nutty flavours with a sweetness and slight hints of vanilla and caramel.

Finish: Lingering, beautifully rich and full-bodied.

About the Brand

Situated at the end of a small single track road, on the shores of the Sound of Islay, Bunnahabhain is known for its spectacular surroundings and delicious signature unpeated Islay Single Malt Whisky.

Our 18 Year Old is one of our most awarded Single Malts and once you’ve tasted it you’ll understand the wealth of gold medals it has achieved. The deep mahogany colour of the whisky gives away the exclusive sherry cask maturation and the tang of salt on the tongue reminds you of our coastal location.

With warehouses positioned along the shore and a bay fed by the Sound of Islay, there is no escaping the salty sea air, especially when you’re maturing by it for 18 years.

Tasting Notes

Color: Rich mahogany gold.

Nose: Fragrant with notes of dried fruit, rich honeyed nuts, toffee and slight hints of spice.

Palate: Notes of mellow sherried nuts, dried fruit and rich oak, with toffee and a slight tang of salt from its maturation of 18yrs at the coast.

Finish: A dry fruit finish with a hint of spice and salt.

Meaning 'Smoky Two' in Scots Gaelic, Toiteach A Dhà (pronounced Toch-ach ah-ghaa) is a sequel to the original peaty paradox on Bunnahabhain’s gentle single malt.  To create this Mòine variant, our blending team selected a combination of ex Bourbon and Sherry casks which were then matured in full, in our coastal warehouses on Bunnahabhain Bay.

With touches of smoke from our peated malted barley, this whisky’s prickling strength emanates from the dram, while warming with a lingering, robust length and delicately sweet sherry influence.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Light Amber Gold

Nose: Intriguing peatiness with hints of sherry and rich oak.

Palate: Immediate warming peatiness drift to a sweet Oloroso sherry influence with rich oak, balanced with delicate pepper.

Finish: Robust length for the discerning palate.

Meaning Helmsman in Scots Gaelic, Stiùireadair, is the first Bunnahabhain release to pay homage to the Bunnahabhain Helmsman, who adorns every bottle. But our Helmsman is no mere icon, he is a reminder of our origins, a link to our past, and a symbol of our enduring appreciation of the sea by which we are surrounded.

To create Stiùireadair, our Master Blender has selected first and second fill sherry casks with spirit of varying ages and warehouse locations to construct a dram that truly exposes the coastal nature of the Bunnahabhain single malt whisky, whilst not losing the sherry influence everyone knows and loves in the famous 12 year old.

Colour: Amber Gold

Nose: Dried fruit and creamy caramel with hints of brine, vanilla, nuts and a touch of spice.

Palate: Creamy mouth feel with a dried fruit influence, sea salt, creamy caramel with hints of nuts and a gentle spice.

Finish: Long and lingering with hints of dried fruit.

One of the ‘super-premium’ members of our core range and another heavy hitter in the awards department, like all of our single malts, this is non-chill filtered and natural colour.

With a strong sherry influence, our 25 Year Old is the perfect example of how well Bunnahabhain matures and the extent of the complex range of sweet oaky layers and nutty flavours which can be achieved by those few extra years in cask.

Nose: Scents of rich sherry, blossoming into sweet caramel and polished leather.

Palate: An initial taste of sweet berries and cream that evolves into a feast of roasted nuts and malt.

Finish: Soft and dry with a delicate hint of sweet sugar and spiced oak that linger long on the tongue.
