FOUNDERS

Our story started with a shop in Perth and founder John Dewar. Together with sons John Alexander Dewar and Tommy Dewar, these three men changed the course of whisky history, and created some mighty fine products along the way. Our Celtic truth knot, a sign of strength and longevity, is constructed from the three D’s representing our founders – John, Tommy and John Alexander Dewar.

Dewar's Japanese Smooth

Dewar’s brings together Scotland and Japan for an amazing flavour experience highlighting a distinctive and harmonious blend of cinnamon, sandalwood and floral notes. Dewar’s Japanese Smooth is an 8-year-old Blended Scotch Whisky finished in Japanese (Mizunara) Oak Casks and is the fourth in an innovative cask series line-up. This rich and full-bodied whisky brings a unique finishing process to the double-aged Dewar’s blend, creating an approachable and smooth whisky with an extraordinary difference.

The true reflection of the Japanese highball, elegant, chilled and perfectly effervescent with unmistakable honey and a hint of cinnamon spice on the palate and a long and slightly dry finish achieving the balance of harmony just like Japanese culture. With this highball temperature is key, the colder the drink, the longer we retain the carbonation. Bubbles carry flavour from the bottom to the top so ice is essential!

Tequila Trompeta Mexicana is a reposado made with 100% aged Agave of 6 months in white oak barrels of the highest quality, just as its bottle has a representative form of an iconic instrument in Mexican culture.

Each spring and fall, a new edition to the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond series is released. Inspired by an original 1950's Old Fitzgerald diamond decanter, the packaging and series honor both the history of the Old Fitzgerald brand and the historic Bottled-in-Bond designation. The Old Fitzgerald line is well-known for its distilling pedigree, as the brand was first registered in 1884 and was eventually sold to "Pappy" Van Winkle during Prohibition. In 1999, Heaven Hill bought the brand and began distilling it at Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, KY. Today, in addition to our Old Fitzgerald Decanter Series, the legacy of Old Fitzgerald lives on in our other wheated Bourbons expressions: Larceny Small Batch and Larceny Barrel Proof.

Tasting Notes

Color: Bright burnished copper

Nose: Brown sugar and molasses; light baking spices with orange peel

Palate: Very soft and gentle on the palate; notes of butterscotch and subtle oak with baking spices, particularly cloves

Finish: Long and warm with some tannins and a peppery tingle; finally, a hint of barrel char at the very end

With a score of 100 points and winner of over 100 international awards, this famously known London Dry Gin is made with botanicals from England's Highclere Castle, known as the "Real Downton Abbey". Citrus forward in flavor with a smooth velvety finish. This award-winning gin integrates juniper, orange zest, lime flower, cardamom and Highclere's famously grown oats to elevate the soft finish. Bottled at 43.5% ABV, it's quickly becoming a must-have in the world of mixology.

Situated under the steps of the St. Bride's Church on Fleet Street, the City of London Distillery is the first distillery to be commissioned within the City of London in over two centuries. The distillery was founded in 2012 by Jonathan Clark and Jamie Baxter, who set out to pay homage to the thousands of distilleries in London that had suffered and were ultimately shuttered due to England's repressive regulatory and tax regimes. City of London Dry Gin is a handcrafted gin that is made using two stills and seven unique botanicals. The stills, which were constructed by Carl GMbH, are nicknamed Clarissa (a Carter Head still) and Jennifer (a classic pot still) are "the heart of the operations of the distillery," says Clark. In addition, the botanicals using during distillation juniper, coriander, angelica, liquorice, orange, lemon and grapefruit create a sublime gin that has touches of zesty citrus, pink grapefruits and licorice. City of London Dry Gin earned the title "Master" at the Gin Masters Competition in 2014. 

The Busker Single Malt is a delightful discovery, an intense journey into the realm of taste. The whiskey is distilled in large copper stills, then matured in two different woods to bring you a complexity that is waiting to be experienced. The Busker Single Malt is a deep golden whiskey. It begins with an arrangement of fruit, which gently leaves space to an explosion of pine essence and malt biscuit. The palate is very intense, with rich, chocolate notes. The whiskey concludes with a sweet and creamy finish.

About the Brand

The Store begins in 1822 in remote and isolated Livet valley that made it ideal for illicit distillation. This is where our founder George Smith learned his craft. Hidden away from the Customs Officers and soldiers amongst the hills and abundant springs, George had time to distill slowly making a whisky that would soon become world renowned. In August 1822, King George IV arrived in Scotland for a state visit and asked to try a drop of the infamous Glenlivet whisky. An illegal dram it was, but even that didn’t stop the King. 

By the late ‘30’s, The Glenlivet distillery was producing more than 200 gallons a week. This expansion meant our founder would soon need more employees. A few years later, Andrew Ushers & Sons of Edinburgh joined as sales agents, helping spread the word of the whisky.

To this day we continue George Smith's vision to break traditions, set new standards and move things forward; selecting exceptional unique casks, finishes and liquids and delivering unique serves and cocktails to open up the world of single malt to all.

Our Glenlivet 12 Year has been called a lot of things in its time: smooth, fruity, complex, sophisticated, entertaining, classic. The Original Malt Whisky Almanac says: “A first-class malt. One of the most popular malts in the world – deservedly so.” Representing The Glenlivet’s signature style, this classic malt is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks which impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky it’s distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josie’s Well helps form the flavors during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character. 100th Anniversary Limited Edition Design. The Yamazaki 12 Years Old Single Malt is comprised of meticulously selected malt whiskies all cask-aged aged for a minimum of 12 years. This special limited-edition bottling was created in honor of Suntory Whisky's centenary. Part of the Yamazaki family, Japan’s quintessential whisky, it is made in Japan’s first and oldest malt distillery which was founded in 1923. Yamazaki means “mountain cape”, referencing its unique geographic location – secluded amongst a range of forest covered mountains. The bottle design pays tribute to Yamazaki, the birthplace of Japanese Whisky, captures this legendary distillery in deep copper tones, and is a reminder to always honor our past.

Hennessy Paradis Rare Cognac is is the product of more than 200 different cognacs that have been aged in Hennessy's cellars for up to a century.
