This is the first time the House has commissioned a single artist to bring a cohesive artistic vision to its prestigious cognac range. Wu Jian’an’s vision, titled "The Spirit of Taste", reimagines the designs of Martell’s finest cognacs, reflecting the human dimension of Martell's savoir-faire and the emotional connection between the taste of cognac and the experiences it evokes.

Wu Jian’an, known for his complex and colorful collages, employs traditional Chinese art techniques like paper-cutting, Chinese shadow art, and collage to create a vibrant, festive design for the Martell Cordon Bleu. The festive imagery in the design reflects the smooth, generous taste of the cognac while paying homage to the traditions of Chinese folk art.
