Don Julio González revolutionized the world of tequila by choosing quality over quantity, painstakingly planting each agave further apart to allow proper room to grow and fully mature before harvesting. He would then select only the most succulent portions of the piña, before steaming them for 72-hour cycles. When it came time to bottle his creation, he broke with generations of traditionally tall Tequila bottles typically hidden under tables. He knew his new spirit had no business hiding on the floor, so he designed a shorter tequila bottle for his guests to pass around the table while still being able to see each other.

Don Julio Reposado Double Cask is finished in casks used in the making of Buchanan's blended scotch whisky, resulting in a remarkable depth of flavor with honeyed notes of agave and undertones of tropical fruits and spices, top-noted with light peat & hints of chocolate malt.

Don Julio was founded in 1942, by Don Julio Gonzlez-Frausto Estrada, who began distilling tequila at age 17. Don Julio tequilas are handcrafted in the Highlands of Jalisco, where the microclimate and mineral-rich clay soil allow the blue agave plant to flourish. La Primavera exclusively produces Don Julio. Each bottle is distilled from 100% pure Blue Weber Agave which are harvested after 7-10 years by expert Jimadors. As highly respected craftsmen they handpick and then uniformly hand cut the agave pencas (leaves) from the pia to increase the quality of juice. Then the pias are then slowly steam-cooked in traditional masonry ovens for three days to release the sweet agave juice. It takes 8 pounds of blue agave to produce one bottle of tequila. Created by Master Distiller Enrique de Colsa in collaboration with the Lagavulin Distillery Manager, Colin Gordon, this limited edition, innovative tequila is inspired by Don Julio Gonzalez's creative spirit and passion to take the art of tequila making to new heights.
