Old Carter is the passion project of “flavor chaser” partners Mark Carter and Sherri Carter, whose beverage industry roots trace back to award-winning careers in the California wine business. After resurrecting the long-dormant bourbon brand Kentucky Owl in 2011, the two were irreversibly hooked on the art of whiskey making and blending. Kentucky Owl sold unexpectedly in 2017, but by then Sherri & Mark were so enamored with the vibrant spirit of Kentucky’s whiskey community, they made a commitment to carry on their love affair with whiskey by making a statement of their own, right in the Bluegrass. And Old Carter Whiskey Co was born.

Headquartered in Louisville, the Old Carter team produces Straight Ryes, Bourbons and American Whiskies in locations throughout Kentucky. Each bottle is personally crafted by Mark and Sherri, who create every blend and select every single barrel program release together.

Distiller’s Note
Barreled and aged in New American Oak, finely blended to perfection in every batch. Description

Our Cucumber Gin is made with 8 botanicals, including fresh, crisp cucumbers. We macerate and steep cucumbers into the spirit with our other botanicals for four days before re-distillation. The large citrus component helps lift the cucumber into a beautiful, light and bright flavor profile.

We have won several awards for this spirit, most recently receiving a Gold Medal from the Denver International Spirits Competition. This Gin is delicious in a classic Gin and Tonic or used to brighten your favorite cocktails.

Maotai, also known as Moutai, is a type of baijiu, a Chinese liquor distilled from fermented sorghum. It originates from the town of Maotai in Guizhou province and is manufactured by the state-owned Kweichow Moutai Company. The drink comes in various forms and is made using basic ingredients like grain and water, then aged for four years in urns before being available for sale.

CAMUS BORDERIES VSOP is a Single-Estate Cognac produced exclusively from CAMUS’ own magnificent vineyards in the very heart of the prestigious Borderies Appellation.

Borderies is the oldest and smallest cru in the appellation, representing less than 5% of the cognac AOC. With its 188 hectares (464 acres), CAMUS owns the largest extension of vineyards belonging to one single producer within the Cru. Thanks to their unique clay-limestone soil rich in flints, our parcels in the Borderies Cru give origin to a very distinctive Single Estate VSOP, with deep floral notes.

TASTING NOTES

Color: Beautiful, consistent orange color with flashes of rich amber.

Nose: Reveals enticing notes of vanilla pods and orange zest, on a bed of soft spice and floral aromas.

Palate: Ample and unctuous, with a robust yet elegant structure and a light hint of woodiness. Beautiful, long finish, well-balanced and wonderfully fresh.

In 1783, Martell was the first to ship its barrels of cognac to the United States. Today, Martell celebrates this history with another first: Introducing Martell Blue Swift, a spirit drink made of Cognac VSOP then finished in Kentucky Bourbon casks.

Icewine is a Pillitteri flagship product. Half of the wine produced at Pillitteri is Icewine. Typical aromas of Icewine include apricot, honey and citrus for whites and cherry, strawberry, and chocolate for reds. Icewine makes an excellent dessert wine and pairs with many savory foods. Pillitteri Estates Winery is the world’s largest estate Icewine producer.

Rich with Citrus Character

The 12 year-old expression is a fine example of how the distinctively crisp, citrus character of Aberlour’s new distillate is deftly softened by double cask maturation. Traditional Oak and seasoned Sherry butts are both used to great effect, as the mellowed spirits within are combined to deliver a subtly balanced flavour

Taste: The rye whiskey starts with sweetness. Hints of cherry pits and vanilla, and then the spice of the rye comes in on the tip of my tongue, but it has a soft mouthfeel to it.

Mid-palate, there are subtle notes of caramel and golden maple syrup with some tobacco and cinnamon notes as it becomes buttery smooth, and well-rounded between the sweet and spicy characteristics. 

Finish: A nice clean finish with ginger, black pepper spice, and moderate warmth with a dry sawdust bite.

This enticing wine displays gorgeous aromas of blackberry, plum, dark red fruit and cranberry, with hints of caramel and exotic spices. Production
Throughout California, the 2019 growing season provided picture-perfect growing conditions. Following a cool, wet winter and spring, summer brought perfectly temperate weather that created exceptional flavor development in the grapes. Warm weather during harvest ensured ideal ripeness, resulting in dynamic whites with beautiful energy and complexity, and lush and flavorful reds with deep colors and lovely intensity.

The growing season began with minimal winter rains and a mild spring. With drought conditions throughout California, we carefully tailored our vineyard practices to ensure balanced crop loads. With slightly elevated temperatures, budbreak at our North Coast vineyards was approximately two weeks ahead of the cooler Central Coast. As a result, our North Coast harvest concluded on October 15th, with our harvest on the Central Coast wrapping up on November 6th. In both regions, the berries and clusters were smaller than average, producing lower yields but deeply concentrated flavors, aromas and textures. Overall, the resulting wines are of exceptional quality, with lovely balance, excellent natural acidity and bright, juicy flavors.

OUR STORY

Belle Glos showcases distinctive Pinot Noirs produced from California’s most noteworthy coastal wine-growing regions.

While each vineyard location lies near the Pacific Ocean, the climate differences are significant, varying with the amount of fog, wind, sunlight, and soil type at each site. Each Vineyard Designate is crafted to distill the purest essence of the locale into elegant expressions of California Pinot Noir.

Owner/winemaker, Joe Wagner chose the name Belle Glos (pronounced “BELL GLOSS”) to honor his grandmother, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner. Lorna was a co-founder of Caymus Vineyards, an inspirational figure to Joseph and an avid lover of Pinot Noir.

RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY

Once a dairy farm and pastureland, this vineyard has realized its greatest potential as a prime, virgin Pinot Noir vineyard. It was first planted in 2000 to a mix of Dijon clones 115, 667, and 777, all grafted on low-vigor rootstock 101-14.

We harvested early in the morning so the fruit would arrive at the winery while the grapes were still cool to preserve the vineyard-fresh flavors. After destemming (but not crushing) the berries, we cold-soaked the fruit for up to two weeks to soften the skins and allow for ideal extraction. During fermentation in a combination of closed and open-top stainless steel fermenters, we used both punch-downs and pump-overs to extract color and tannins, and also to control temperatures and maximize flavors. We aged the wine in 100% French oak (60% new) for up to nine months. After the wine underwent malolactic fermentation, we racked it twice before making the final blend.

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet in color with abundant aromas of sun-warmed black cherry, raspberry compote, and dark chocolate followed by hints of cedar and black currant. Bold and rich tones layered with flavors of fresh strawberry cobbler and bramble accompanied by notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. This wine has rich tannins, nice concentration, depth, and natural acidity that expresses the authenticity of a Sonoma County Pinot Noir.

About the Wine

Our Sauvignon Blanc reflects the diversity of the climates and soils in the Central Coast that range from the cool, limestone-laden Templeton Gap area to the warmer, sandy, river-influenced eastern regions. We’ve combined sauvignon blanc grown in vineyards with diverse climates and soils to give our JUSTIN Sauvignon Blanc a clean, textured palate with bright citrus and tropical fruit with a hint of fresh herbs balanced with a crisp, refreshing mineral structure. The result is a wine that is both a refreshing summer aperitif and a perfect food pairing wine for an amazing range of cheeses, seafood, or light dining options, such as appetizers or tapas.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Bright and clear with moderate tears and a pale straw color.

Aroma: Aromatic with ripe Eureka lemon, peach, nectarine skin, and passionfruit with fresh herbal notes.

Palate: Medium-bodied with bright citrus and fresh Granny Smith apple on entry and flavors of passionfruit and fresh herbs toward the midpalette. The finish is moderately long, clean, and textured, highlighted with fresh citrus and a wet stone mineral note.

Our Story Retold

Ten To One is proud to release a special edition Caribbean Dark Rum in partnership with artist Devin B. Johnson. Johnson’s piece titled ‘Inner Glow’ is an inspired work that pays homage to the power and wisdom drawn from the collective fabric of a shared Black heritage. The overarching blue theme draws from historical West African influences and is utilized as a symbol of togetherness and harmony, while the prominent figure, representative of the African diaspora, has a poignant gaze to the future.

About the Artist

Devin B. Johnson is a Brooklyn-based fine artist. With roots in LA, Johnson received his BFA from CSU Channel Islands in 2015 and his MFA from Pratt in 2019. In the last three years, Johnson is one of sixteen artist selected for the inaugural Black Rock Senegal residency program, and for Forbes 30 under 30 Art and Design. His work has been collected by The Hammer Museum, LACMA, Rubell Museum, and Pond Society. With a focus on expressive texture, his pieces are layered and take on narrative format; often centering memory, history, and the imagined.

POWERS IRISH RYE is born from careful experimentation. Tested in the 1800s and perfected in the 2020s, timeless takes time, and our 100% Irish Rye mash is no exception. Balancing the peppery taste of rye with the sweetness from seasoned American oak cask maturation, this new POWERS expression brings real character, from a country not short on character itself.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Burnt orange, maraschino cherries, and toffee banana with rich warming notes of freshly baked rye bread, buttered croissants and charred oak. Robust spices of clove, white pepper and ginger are met with sweet vanilla and earthy sugar cane aromas.

Taste: Candied ginger with orange peel, clove spice and peppermint. Caramelized apples with brown sugar, sweet cereal and red liquorice notes build while the vanilla and charred oak influences work in balance with the rye signature spices.

Finish: Satisfyingly long, with a prickle of chili oil that continues to linger for a time in the company of honey glazed fruits and hardy cereal undertones.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Old Pineau des Charentes, very nutty, rancio, encaustic, earthy, cocoa, ends with green and fruity tones like sloe berries. 

Palate: Dry and slightly acid, apple, walnut and peanut, balsamic and old cask notes, lily of the valley and pungent flowers

The first Texas whisky on the market since Prohibition, Baby Blue is crafted from roasted blue corn. This rich and oily maize adds new sophistication to the corn whisky tradition while keeping the freshness and verve of classic American distilling. Intentionally youthful, Baby Blue captures the essence of this prized corn with a round nuttiness, roasted overtones and refined complexity. The mouthfeel is viscous with a soft finish. A Self-Made Man
Buchanan’s is named after the late James Buchanan, a driven whisky entrepreneur who crafted a Scotch that redefined greatness. Instead of creating a Scotch to be revered, he created a uniquely smooth blend that could be shared and enjoyed by all. In fact, the original Buchanan’s bottle design was inspired by the selfless act of sharing water canteens between British soldiers during times of conflict.

Buchanan launched his whisky company in 1884 and quickly shared it with the world, traveling from Scotland to London to Latin America. Today, the bottle’s Red Lion crest proudly wears its origin, “Buchanan’s Scotland,” but continues to spread its smoothness around the globe from Bogota to Los Angeles to Mexico City. After all, greatness is meant to be shared by all.
