Bruichladdich Octomore 14.1 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Bruichladdich

700 ml | 59.6% ABV
Whiskey | Scotch

THE BACKBONE OF THE SERIES

The backbone of the 14th annual Octomore series, the character of the 14.1 offers a necessary comparison from which the other expressions alternate and evolve. The base for this latest series showcases the delicate and intricate balance between smoke, malt, cask and maturation – resulting in an all-encompassing drinking experience. Matured for five years in first-fill ex-American whiskey casks, the 14.1 shows the power and potential of its essential raw ingredients. Sweet caramel and vanilla open on the nose, with bright citrus cutting through Octomore’s signature smoke - elevated with roasted coffee and subtle spice.

Distilled from 100% Scottish mainland barley and peated to 128.9 PPM, Octomore 14.1 is as youthful and dynamic as its predecessors.

TASTING NOTES

Octomore 14.2 uses the same barley varietal and is malted to the same PPM as the 14.1, but the liquids diverge profoundly with the influence of wine and sherry casks on the 14.2 spirit.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Deep Amber

NOSE: Leather, prunes, red currants and malted barley come to the fore, followed by toasted oak and hints of cinnamon, green apple and black pepper. Waves of smoke and distinct red fruits follow, complemented with cereal notes of malt and porridge. The peat smoke is dry and brooding, with a hint of burnt heather and subtle pipe tobacco from the oak.

PALATE: The influence of the European oak is unmissable, with a touch of dryness balanced with the vibrancy of wood spices, smoked oak and roasted coffee. Barbeque sweetness and a crack of black pepper is complemented with rich fruit cake and dried fruits. A drop of water opens the smoke and fruity sweetness from the wine casks, bringing a beautiful balance as notes of apple and pear grow with the dram.

FINISH: Smoked malt, smouldering oak and sea salt settle on the finish.

Blackened X Rabbit Hole Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

Blackened

750 ml
Whiskey | Rye

In the world of fine spirits, few names evoke as much reverence and excitement as Blackened X and Rabbit Hole Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey. These two renowned distilleries have come together to create a truly exceptional whiskey that captivates the senses and exemplifies the artistry of American distillation.

Blackened X, often celebrated for its distinctive aging process and innovative approach to whiskey-making, has garnered a devoted following since its inception. Utilizing the unique "sonic aging" technique, the whiskey is exposed to low-frequency sound waves during the maturation process, enhancing the interaction between the spirit and the wood of the barrels. This method creates a flavor profile that's rich, complex, and utterly unique.

On the other hand, Rabbit Hole Distillery, located in the heart of bourbon country in Louisville, Kentucky, has gained a reputation for its commitment to crafting premium spirits. Their rye whiskey, in particular, has earned accolades for its meticulous production and dedication to preserving traditional techniques while pushing the boundaries of flavor.

When Blackened X and Rabbit Hole joined forces to create a Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, it was a marriage of expertise and innovation. The result is a spirit that embodies the best of both worlds—a harmonious fusion of flavors and craftsmanship that sets a new standard for American rye whiskey.

What sets Blackened X Rabbit Hole Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey apart is its remarkable complexity. Upon the first sip, you'll be greeted by a symphony of flavors that dance across your palate. The spicy notes of rye mingle with the sweetness of caramel and vanilla, creating a balanced and inviting experience. The "sonic aging" technique used by Blackened X infuses the whiskey with subtle undertones of dried fruits and oak, offering a depth of character that is unparalleled.

The nose of this exceptional spirit is equally captivating. It's a sensory journey that begins with a gentle waft of warm spice and toasted oak, followed by hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and dried apricots. As you explore its aromatic depths, you'll discover a delightful interplay of sweet and savory elements, inviting you to dive deeper into the glass.

The finish of Blackened X Rabbit Hole Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey is a crescendo of flavor that lingers on the palate, leaving you with a satisfying warmth and a desire for another sip. It's a testament to the skillful blending and aging process that both distilleries have perfected over the years.

Krug Rose 26eme edition Brut Champagne

Krug Champagne

750 ml | 12.5% ABV
Champagne

Krug Rosé is inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the Krug family to conceive a rosé Champagne that did not yet exist, one that could be re-created each year. Every Édition of Krug Rosé perpetuates this legacy.

Krug Rosé is surprising, as it replaces a good red wine at the table with brio. This Champagne is a delicate blend of wines of the year with wines from selected plots of the House’s vast reserve library, completed with traditionally macerated Pinot Noir to add structure and spice. A rest of around seven years in Krug’s cellars gives Krug Rosé its refined elegance and character.

Krug Rosé is inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the Krug family to conceive a rosé Champagne that did not yet exist, one that could be re-created each year. Every Édition of Krug Rosé perpetuates this legacy.

The broad palette of elegant notes in

Krug Rosé 26ème Édition is born from a selection of 28 wines from 7 different years, the youngest from 2014, and the oldest from 2005. It was completed with 11% traditionally macerated Pinot Noir of the year blended from plots in Aÿ and Taissy, to add a unique spiciness, colour and structure. A stay of around seven years in Krug’s cellars gives
Krug Rosé 26ème Édition its unique expression and elegance.
Krug Rosé 26ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2014, an erratic year that oscillated between hot dry spells, and cool rainy periods. Vines developed under good conditions, ensuring a generous, high quality harvest. The contrasting weather preserved freshness and resulted in great heterogeneity throughout the region, underscoring the importance of the House’s plot-by-plot approach.

Each year, to re-create the dream of the fifth generation of the Krug family of an unexpected, bold and elegant rosé Champagne, the House starts by identifying plots’ wines from the current and previous years that will together convey all possible types of fruit expression. This composition then embraces a traditionally macerated red Pinot Noir, which adds spiciness, colour and structure.

Krug Rosé 26ème Édition is thus the result of complementing the selected plots’ wines of the year with reserve wines from 6 other years. Reserve Chardonnay plot’s wines from the 2006 harvest bring roundness and unctuousness to this Édition of Krug Rosé, while a red Pinot Noir wine of the year blended from plots in Aÿ and Taissy completed the creation. It is the 26th time this dream has been re-created.

In all, reserve wines from the House’s extensive library made up 33% of the final blend of this Édition of Krug Rosé.
The final composition of this Édition of Krug Rosé is 44% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 26% Meunier.
The most non-conformist of Krug Champagnes, Krug Rosé is for bold gastronomic adventures. Combining breadth, depth and grace, it is a perfect tango with savoury dishes of all kinds, replacing a good red wine at the table with brio. It can be enjoyed with foie gras, lamb, game, white meat, venison or even dishes with spices.
