It fuses innovative techniques with materials from the natural world at the end of their life to see them reborn with a renewed purpose. 

INSIDE THE WORLD OF CHOCOLATE

Continuing our long-standing partnership with the Roca brothers, this is a collaboration with Jordi Roca to bring the worlds of chocolate and whisky to life in Casa Cacao, a hotel and chocolate factory in central Girona, Spain. The Macallan Whisky Maker Polly Logan took inspiration from her time at Casa Cacao to create a single malt with indulgent chocolate notes.

The Anecdotes of Ages Collection is an extraordinary art and whisky collaboration with globally renowned British pop artist, Sir Peter Blake.

The collaboration is The Macallan’s third with the iconic artist, and is part of a relationship that has spanned almost four decades. The partnership celebrates our rich legacy and Sir Peter Blake’s remarkable contribution to the art world.

This special single malt whisky has been created to commemorate Sir Peter Blake’s visit to The Macallan Estate on the legendary River Spey. An Estate, A Community, and A Distillery tells the story of some of the colourful characters from The Macallan’s past and present and features a label digitally designed by Sir Peter himself.

The Macallan Lead Whisky Maker, Sarah Burgess, was inspired by Sir Peter Blake’s character to create a whisky classic in style with surprising notes of treacle and black pepper.

Sourced, crafted, toasted and seasoned under the watchful eye of the Master of Wood, the hand-picked casks are delivered to the demanding specifications of the Whisky Mastery Team. Once filled, the maturing spirit remains undisturbed in the same casks for the necessary number of years it needs to be worthy of its destined Macallan expression. It is the oak that makes the greatest contribution to the quality, natural colour and distinctive aromas and flavours at the heart of this single malt whisky.

Matured in a unique combination of casks with two distinctive wood types, the Macallan classic cut 2022 single malt exudes flavours of both European and American oak, married together to create a unique tasting experience. With a distinct grapefruit flavour, this whisky emphasises a wide range and complexity of flavours. The two wood types complement and balance together beautifully and offer an experiential journey through flavour, aroma, colour and texture. It reveals flavour notes of grapefruit, peach, caramel and light spice, a refreshing combination for a whisky cocktail to savour in an exceptional sensory revelation.

The Macallan Home Collection, The Distillery celebrates our time-honoured traditions and community spirit – both encapsulated at The Macallan Distillery and around the world.

Inspired by the natural beauty of The Macallan’s 485-acre Estate, artist and The Macallan employee Colin Rizza has beautifully depicted the Distillery in watercolour. Colin and his family have deep ties to the Distillery, having worked here for over three decades. The delicate, complex nose, sweet spice and gently mellowing palate and rich, medium finish are waiting to welcome you into our home in the heart of Speyside, Scotland.

This exceptional single malt whisky has been created by The Macallan Master Whisky Maker, Kirsteen Campbell to reflect the character of James Bond. A force of nature defined by his Scottish heritage, he carries himself with modesty and humility. 

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Fresh and vibrant notes of lemon and lime, a sprinkle of sherbet, leading into a sweet vanilla and coconut, with a hint of dried fig and raisin.

PALATE: Orange zest and fizzy sherbet with a lemon freshness, gentle oak and subtle ginger spice, leading into a deep dark chocolate, figs and baked apple tart with a honey drizzle.

FINISH: Sweet and long with complexed layers.

The distinct range tells the story of innovation over 60 years and the pioneering character attributes of James Bond and The Macallan. James Bond is a modern innovator and man of perennial evolution. The Bond films have become closely associated with ingenious 007 gadgets that are used on his mission to deliver for the greater good; and have become a hallmark of the franchise’s popularity. 

Decade IV explores the Bond innovations and archives of the 1990s. The pack design features concept art for the Stealth Ship in Tomorrow Never Dies 1997 and a pre-title sequence storyboard from GoldenEye (1995).

The concept art in Tomorrow Never Dies illustrates the primary antagonist Elliot Carver’s Stealth Ship; this sketch is very close to the prop in the final production.

SIX FACETS, ONE COOPERAGE

No. 6 brings together the art of whisky making with Lalique exquisite craftsmanship to create a stunning whisky encased in the finest crystal decanter. This rich, complex single malt takes its unique natural color and character from first fill sherry seasoned oak casks from Spain, handcrafted by the master craftsmen of Jerez de la Frontera, the home of sherry. The casks are taken from a single cooperage in order to ensure the infinite quality and character at the heart of this rich single malt. The cooperage exclusively creates Spanish oak casks which, once seasoned with sherry, create the unique flavor of this exquisite whisky. Rich in spice and dried fruit with a layer of heady orange groves, this is an enticing, dark, whisky that delivers classic Macallan character.

THE EXPERIENCE

COLOUR: Spanish Sunset

NOSE: Raisin, dates and figs dominate whilst sultana and toffee apples add texture and depth. The weight of flavour from the raisins is dark and rich with great viscosity. Dry ginger and soft cinnamon hint at the edges the edges. Dark chocolate is majestic, vanilla sweetness lingers in the background.

PALATE: Heavy and sumptuous. A rich fruit cake of raisin, dates and figs, apples, sultanas, orange then ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and hints of clove. Oak notes are like velvet, soft and chic.

FINISH: Silky smooth with a long and full finish.

DECADE VI

In 2012 Skyfall brought the audience back to James Bond’s childhood home, but also tragically destroyed it. Daniel Craig’s performances endeared further notes of domesticity, deep love and family. 

Making the character more relatable than ever, Craig reveals a vulnerable humanity at Bond’s core, without compromising any trademark resolve or physical capability.  

The packaging design features childhood home Skyfall Lodge in Skyfall (2012), and a Day of the Dead poster from Spectre (2015).

Decade VI explores the Bond innovations and archives of the 2010s. The pack design features a Day of The Dead poster from Spectre (2015) and a Skyfall Lodge illustration from Skyfall (2012).

The Day of the Dead poster calls back to the action packed opening sequence in Spectre. Instead of filming Mexico’s popular festival, the production created their own version, taking over Zocalo Square with over 1,500 extras.

This exceptional expression with notes of dark cherries and Medjool date has an initial sweetness on the palate, with a nostalgic medley of vanilla, apple and nutmeg. The resplendent red walnut hue is attributed to more than a quarter of a century of maturation in a first fill sherry seasoned European oak butt cask. A single cask of The Macallan Fine & Rare was filled on the 20th of January 1997 and bottled over 26 years later. The largest assembly of vintage-dated, single malt whiskies in the world, this Collection is a celebration of place and moment in time, creating a rare opportunity to explore those that have come before us.

1997 THE YEAR THAT WAS
In the annals of Hollywood history, 1997 stands out as a momentous year, marked by record-breaking films and iconic franchises gracing the silver screen. As Hollywood became an adored American export, 1997 marked a historic milestone for The Macallan, with international sales surpassing domestic for the first time, prominently led by the thriving U.S. market. In homage to this transformative year, The Macallan proudly presents its 1997 Fine & Rare release, capturing the essence of that landmark year.

THE EXPERIENCE

COLOUR: Resplendent red walnut

NOSE: Rich fruit aromas of dark cherries, Medjool dates and raisins are on the nose, accompanied by warming cinnamon, sticky toffee pudding and aged oak.

PALATE: An initial sweetness on the palate with a nostalgic medley of vanilla, apple and nutmeg gives way to an intense, rich oak with a depth of spice notes, warming aniseed and clove.

FINISH: Long and luxurious with a gentle caress of spices, sweetness and antique oak.

The Macallan Red Collection reflects our deep respect for time, tradition and craftsmanship. It is a celebration of the rich range of reds present naturally in The Macallan—in every step of the process.

The distinctive red colour weaves its way through our history, starting with the name of our founder Alexander Reid—literally “The Red”, to The Macallan’s ‘Choice Old’ range released over a century ago in 1903, through to Allan Shiach marking vintage bottles of The Macallan with a red ribbon in the 1980s.

The oak presentation box is crafted by hand in the UK, using the same sustainable European oak we use to make our casks. The box has been beautifully upholstered with sustainably sourced, soft scottish leather from our renowned partners, Bridge of Weir Leather.

NARIZ: Orange and grapefruit combining with dark chocolate. Antique oak and wood spices with fig and poached pear.

PALADAR: Ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon with vanilla. An effervescence with malty notes and fig.

TERMINAR: Long with delicate wisps of woodsmoke.

The second release in The Macallan Home Collection is a tribute to our extraordinary Estate, inspired by the natural beauty of The Macallan's birthplace and the River Spey.

The stunning painting on the front of the pack is the work of photo-realist artist Michelle Lucking, and captures the River Spey in its majestic winter beauty. The Spey, which flows gently through our Estate, is an enduring source of inspiration and an essential part of our whisky-making process. We are proud custodians of our 1.5-mile stretch of the river, protecting its waters and the wildlife around it.

Michelle works with her fingers to bring her subjects, most often water, to life. She has used natural pigmented pastels to create a collection of six original pastel paintings of the River Spey, three of which are included in the art folio. The colours she has chosen echo the earthy hues of umber, russet and gold found within our whiskies.
