Forty years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, George A. Dickel was born in a rural town in eastern Tennessee. By 1867, Dickel was an established Nashville merchant but moved his family to the city of Tullahoma (situated in south-central Tennessee), where he purchased the Cascade Hollow Distillery. After working tirelessly at the distillery, Dickel declared that his spirits were of equal quality to the finest scotch, and followed in the Scottish tradition of spelling whisky without an "e." While George A. Dickel Distillery was forced to close its doors as a result of Prohibition, it was rebuilt in 1958 by Master Distiller Ralph Dupps. To ensure the whisky's authenticity, Dupps obtained the original manuscripts in which Dickel detailed his unique recipe and distillation processes. Today, Master Distiller John Lunn carries on the tradition of excellence that has made Dickel whisky a symbol of quality for over a century. George Dickel's newest 13-year-old limited release is bold and balanced. At 100 proof, George Dickel Bottled-in-Bond can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks in addition to being well-suited for many of your favorite cocktails.

George Dickel has teamed up with the Leopold Bros to produce an innovative rye whisky offering.The release blends George Dickel’s column still rye produced at Cascade Hallow Distillery with Leopold Bros’ Three Chamber Rye to recreate a historic style. This union between column distilled rye and Three Chamber distilled rye turns back the hands of time, returning to an era that saw heavy-bodied rye whisky served at bars and saloons throughout America. The Cascade Hollow component of this blend is a never-before released traditional column still rye.

George Dickel Rye Whisky is the only rye finished in the style that made George famous. We start with the finest rye whisky available, made from 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Then we finish it in the Dickel way chilled, then charcoal mellowed for bright, spicy flavors with the smoothest, finest finish around.

Enjoy the following cocktail recipe

2 lemon wedges
2 oz (60 ml) George Dickel Rye
7 ml Cynar
20g kumquat syrup

First, use a brůlée torch to char the lemons. You can use a cast-iron skillet at home to char either side of the lemon. Once they are charred, remove them with a pair of tongs and let cool for a moment.
Once cool, muddle 2 charred lemons with all the ingredients in a shaker. Shake and double strain into a coupe. Enjoy.

Initially released as a limited time offering, George Dickel is excited to announce the return of George Dickel 17 Year Old Reserve, an incredibly rare, aged Tennessee whisky. Inspired by the previous release and its dedicated fans, General Manager and Distiller Nicole Austin intentionally searched for barrels that captured what made the original liquid special.

With a woody, robust profile, the newest release pays homage to the old liquid while featuring subtle contrasts that differentiate the two. This perfectly aged, cask-strength release boasts complex aromas of crème brûlée, apricots with hints of plum and juniper on the palate and a rich cedar finish.

George Dickel Hand Selected is their private barrel program. The sour-mash whiskey employs the Lincoln County Process, which is a type of charcoal filtering that is typical of Tennessee whiskey. This expression was aged for 9 years, then bottled at 103 proof, making for an exceptionally well-balanced single-barrel whiskey.

Thus, Geo. A. Dickel & Co. was born and when the Cascade Hollow Distillery opened in 1878 in neighboring Coffee County, George Dickel bought a large share. George Dickel followed in the Scottish tradition of spelling whisky without an “e.”

George Dickel preferred whisky made in the winter months more than summer months because he felt it made the whisky taste smoother, so the company began advertising their Geo. A. Dickel’s Cascade Tennessee Whisky as “Mellow as Moonlight.” This is why our whisky is chilled before undergoing the charcoal-mellow filtration known as the Lincoln County Process. This extra step smooths out the flavor and we’re still the only Tennessee distillery to do it.

Dickel Bourbon is a handcrafted, small-batch bourbon that's been aged 8 years and blended to perfection. The liquid boasts sweet initial notes of vanilla leading into bright hints of cherry and orange before being balanced by almond toffee and oak. At 90 proof, bourbon enthusiasts can best enjoy Dickel Bourbon neat or on the rocks, in addition to mixing it into some of their favorite cocktails, like an Old Fashioned.
