Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Bruichladdich

750 ml | 50% ABV
Whiskey | Scotch

Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 embodies everything an Islay whisky can and should be. As well as adding complexity and depth to this single malt, the Islay grown barley goes beyond just the pursuit of flavour - evoking a true sense of place.

TASTING NOTES

CHARACTER: With a quiet complexity, Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 showcases the delicate balance of fruit and smoke which the single malt is renowned for.

COLOUR: Light amber

NOSE: Malty digestive biscuits and peat embers open on the nose, followed by sweet vanilla and notes of honey, toffee and Crème Brûlée. As the whisky breathes its fruity character comes to the fore, with lemon rind and peat smoke rising from the glass, moving to grapefruit, ripe melon, peach and crisp red apple. Port Charlotte’s signature maritime note is offset with a touch of wood spice, nutmeg and cinnamon, showcasing the depth and complexity of this single malt.

PALATE: An initial citrus tang is followed by sweet ripe fruit and gentle peat smoke. A subtle marine character comes through, with this sandy minerality complemented with toasted oak. On a second sip, the balance of fruit and smoke is unmistaken, with a medley of apricot, peach and ripe melon delicately wrapped in charred heather and peat embers. The maturation in American bourbon barrels brings lightly toasted oak notes, with a hint of coconut, creamy marzipan and tobacco.

FINISH: Soft stoned fruit and toasted oak sweetness leave a beautifully balanced finish, while a subtle, dry barbeque smoke lingers.

La Leyenda Mazcal Reposado

La Leyenda

750 ml | 40% ABV
Mezcal

La Leyenda Mazcal Reposado is a renowned and distinguished spirit, deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Mexico's mescal-producing regions. Crafted with expertise and passion, this exquisite reposado mezcal embodies the essence of the agave plant, carefully nurtured and distilled to perfection. La Leyenda, which translates to "The Legend" in English, lives up to its name by delivering a memorable and authentic mescal experience that captivates the senses.

The journey of La Leyenda Mazcal Reposado begins with the meticulous selection of mature agave plants, which are hand-harvested by skilled jimadors who have honed their craft over generations. These prized agaves, harvested at the peak of ripeness, are then roasted in traditional underground ovens for several days. This cooking process imbues the mescal with distinctive smoky aromas, evoking the essence of the rugged Mexican landscape.

Following roasting, the agaves are crushed using a stone tahona, an ancient method that pays homage to the past. The resulting mash is then fermented in wooden vats using natural airborne yeasts, a process that allows the flavors of the agave to develop naturally and retain their authenticity.

After fermentation, the mescal undergoes a double distillation process in copper alembic stills. This careful distillation ensures that only the most refined and purest expressions of the agave's character make it into the final product.

La Leyenda Mazcal Reposado is further enhanced by its aging process, which sets it apart from its unaged counterparts. The reposado designation signifies that this mescal has been matured in oak barrels for a minimum of six months, a period that allows the spirit to develop a remarkable complexity while retaining its earthy and smoky foundation.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: In the glass, La Leyenda Mazcal Reposado presents itself with a golden hue, a testament to its time spent in oak barrels. The liquid glistens with a rich texture, inviting the drinker to explore its depths.

Aroma: Upon the first nosing, a bouquet of roasted agave fills the air, accompanied by subtle notes of caramel and vanilla. The smoky aromas from the cooking process intertwine harmoniously with a hint of dried fruits, leaving a tantalizing impression.

Palate: The first sip reveals the mezcal's full-bodied character, coating the palate with a smooth and velvety texture. The agave's essence takes center stage, carrying an earthy sweetness complemented by warm undertones of oak and spice. The smokiness persists, adding depth and complexity to the overall profile.

Finish: The finish of La Leyenda Mazcal Reposado is long-lasting and satisfying. As the flavors slowly fade away, a delightful warmth remains, reminiscent of the sun-soaked agave fields of Mexico. The aftertaste leaves a touch of sweet, smoky memories, inviting the imbiber to take another sip.

Whether savored neat or enjoyed in a handcrafted cocktail, La Leyenda Mazcal Reposado is a spirit that resonates with history, tradition, and the love and dedication of those who have carefully crafted it. With each sip, it unfolds a journey of flavors, telling a tale of the land from which it originates and creating an unforgettable mescal experience for all who partake in its legend.

Arbikie 1794 Highland Rye Single Grain Scotch Whisky

Arbikie

750 ml | 48% ABV
Whiskey

THE WORLD'S FIRST SCOTTISH RYE WHISKY IN OVER 100 YEARS

Arbikie Highland Rye Whiskies are proudly 'Single Grain' - grain whisky produced at a single distillery. That distillery is Arbikie, where the team value tradition, authenticity and our enduring field to bottle principles.

We grow all the ingredients on our farm, giving you a truly authentic whisky with each bottle.

Unlike single malt, single grain whiskies do not need to be made using just malted barley. In fact, other cereals such as wheat, corn or rye can also be used. At Arbikie, we use rye, wheat and barley to make our Highland Rye Whiskies - the world's first Rye Scotch in over 100 years!

Arbikie 1794 Highland Rye Single Grain Scotch Whisky is a celebration of the field to bottle approach to distilling that took place at Arbikie in 1794 - reviving a genuinely authentic way of distilling.

As with our limited-edition, we combined rye with new charred American oak. But for 1794, maturation is entirely in this lively new oak, creating exciting flavours and aromas to fire the imagination and senses.

Herout Micro Cuvée No 3 Cider

French Cider and Spirits

750 ml | 5.5% ABV
Cider

The Micro-Cuvée n°3 is a unique cider distinguished by its internal complexity and notes of fresh pears. 100% organic.
This cuvée ferments for 6 months in oak barrels that previously aged chardonnay and pinot noir wines.  The barrel-fermented ciders are blended and then bottled. After the natural bubbles form, the bottles are aged 20 months on lattes before being disgorged.
This lovely organic cider is a pale golden robe and totally clear.  A fine nose with lightly wooded notes and aromas of pears. On the palate, this cider has very fine bubbles with a balanced freshness, reinforced by tannins imparted from the wine barrels during the aging process and a bit of acidity on the finish. A dry cider with an impressive structure.  Fit for the finest of restaurants. 5.5% alc/vol.
Maison Hérout follows the cider-making tradition of their ancestors – their ciders are all organic, and fermented naturally with indigenous yeast.  The bubbles are the result of a natural effervescence and occur in the bottle.  Maison Hérout ciders are not pasteurized or carbonated.  Gluten – Free and vegan.
The Orchards
Maison Herout has 25 acres of apple orchards. The average age of the apple trees varies according to the parcels (10 to 65 years old). More than 25 varieties of apples are grown including Rouge de Cantepie, one of the original apples grown in the orchards.  The soil is maintained by being completely covered with grass.
The Terroir
The orchards are situated on the Armorican Massive which is composed of schist and sandstone sediment as well as granite from the primary eras.  With a silty coating, the soils are slightly sandy and pebbly sandy and drain very quickly.
The Production
After grating the apples to obtain the “marc de pommes”, the grated apples are then crushed into a pulp, then pressed.  The resulting pressed juice rests for 3 to 5 days to become naturally clear. This clear juice is then fermented in large cuvées for 4 to 7 months.  After bottling, the cider then continues fermenting for at least another 2 months so that the natural bubbles can form – leading to a rich, thick robe of foamy bubbles that are the hallmark of Maison Hérout. Their ciders are clarified through a traditional method where bottles are capped and tipped on their side so that the yeasts can fall to the tip of the bottle where they are removed through disgorgement.  The resulting cider is completely clear, refined, and stable.
