Batanga, born in the heart of Tequila, is made using 100% blue Weber agave with traditional, old-world methods, that have been used for generations. Our jimadors hand-harvest the agave piñas from the agave fields, which are then cooked in traditional style masonry brick ovens, imparting nuances of cinnamon, clove and other warming spices from the delicate process of caramelizing sugars. The ‘mosto’ released is then fermented and double distilled, giving Batanga the crisp, bright finish that has won the hearts of people near and far.

A revival of an old Hood River Distillers small batch recipe, Old Delicious Double Bourbon Barreled Apple Brandy begins as Pacific Northwest apples, which are crushed, fermented and distilled according to Old World methods at Clear Creek Distillery.  The Apple Brandy is then twice rested in first fill Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Barrels.  A nod to the history of the Hood River Valley, Old Delicious celebrates the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

The transition to a single barrel bourbon occurred in 2019, with the introduction of the limited 13-year edition in both 2019 and 2023. Legent Yamazaki Cask Finish Blend, an exclusive release inspired by diverse perspectives in whiskey craftsmanship, unfolds a remarkable journey. Originating as an exceptional Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey meticulously crafted by Fred in Kentucky, it embarked on a transpacific voyage to Japan. There, at the revered Suntory Yamazaki Distillery near Kyoto, Shinji nurtured it in specially chosen French Oak wine casks and Spanish Oak sherry casks, adding rich nuances and a vibrant spiced finale. A select reserve further matured in sherry casks that once cradled Yamazaki Single Malt Japanese Whisky, contributing a full-bodied malty depth and intricate layers of flavor.

Deep, intensely flavorful and velvet-smooth, our 2020 Apothic Crush is a luscious Red Blend brimming with appealing fruit character. Ripe black cherry, wild blackberry and raspberry fruit notes are layered on the inviting palate with toffee and milk chocolate. The long, lingering finish adds hints of rich, silky caramel. A blend of Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel, this is a Crush that demands to be shared.

Viticulture Notes

We selected the majority of the grapes for Apothic Crush from Lodi and other bold regions in California’s Central Valley. Lodi is known as a producer of intensely concentrated, silky textured fruit. California’s 2020 vintage experienced a cool, mild growing season with an accelerated heat spell in August, resulting in early ripening. Vintage 2020 in California shows vibrant acidity and concentrated flavors.

Winemaking Notes

We harvested a majority of the grapes for our Apothic Crush at night in cool temperatures to preserve the character of the fruit. The Pinot Noir was cold soaked for 1-2 days, then fermented between 80° to 85°F. The other varieties were fermented between 86° to 90° F. To create a silky mouthfeel and toasted caramel characteristics, we aged the blend in a mixture of French and American oak.

Sweet and smokey with caramel and cornbread on the nose, blackberry jam and tobacco on the tongue and a tingling finish of cinnamon and spice.  Enjoyed neat or on the rocks, this rare gem is so perfectly aged, you’ll want to travel back in time for more.

Matured in a slightly higher proportion of Oloroso Sherry casks, this sublime 19 year old whisky is the epitome of an aged Ardbeg. Part of a highly sought-after and collectible Ardbeg series, Batch 4 is the latest expression. This sublime Traigh Bhan, like the bottles before it, inspired by Islay’s Traigh Bhan beach (pronounced tri-van). Ardbeg Traigh Bhan masterfully performs the impossible – balancing the lull and crescendo of its intense flavours. Bottled under a full moon, the tides have turned for this rare spirit as more mentholic, herbal notes rush the senses, with intense smoke left behind in its peaty wake.

TASTING NOTES

Aroma: On the nose, rising aromas of herbal pine and fennel flow into sharp notes of citrusy lime sorbet and medicinal lozenge, while eucalyptus and saddle soap follow on the breeze. A splash of water releases a cascade of hazelnut, sweet vanilla, and currants, before rich minted chocolate brings the nose to a close.

Taste: An intense wave of wood smoke crashes over the palate, leaving ripples of decadent dark chocolate and ground coffee in its wake. Sweeter notes of lemon curd and peanut brittle cut through the swell to reveal delicate hints of creamy raisin fudge and hazelnut. The allure of this rare dram continues with suggestions of more medicinal, spicy notes. Menthol, fresh lemongrass, aniseed, clove and white pepper emerge from rich, smoky depths.

Finish: Sweet and peat collide with creamy vanilla fudge, dark cocoa powder, and a warm, woody clove tingle. A sharp, intense, and satisfyingly long finish.

The Ardbeg Anthology Collection is inspired by tales of unbelievable encounters – legendary brushes with the strangest creatures ever purported to stalk Islay.
Inspired by the seldom-seen Harpy – a winged beast said to inhabit Islay – this legendary edition is a first for the Distillery. The Harpy’s Tale has been matured for 13 years in rare Sauternes wine casks and married with classic Ardbeg ex-bourbon. After over a decade in the cask, soaring smoke swoops into sweetness as Ardbeg’s unmistakable character wrangles with the richness of the Sauternes casks. A supreme aged expression… the taste almost as sensational as the tale…

TASTING NOTES

Aroma: Very distinctively oily, with touches of extra virgin olive oil, sweet briar wood, aromatic herbs (coriander & sage) and a suggestion of smoked lemon peel. A splash of water releases more oiliness, like linseed oil, a gentle waxiness, and a burst of perfumed, aromatic carbolic soap, and finally, a whiff of crème brulee.

Taste: A soft, oily, mouthcoating texture leads into a rich, sweet, smoky palate, with hints of oak moss, treacle, aniseed lozenges and a lovely, sweet, woody/balsamic flavour. This is then followed by smoked apricots and eucalyptus oil.

Finish: Finally comes a lingering, sweet/smoky aftertaste, with a touch of cumin, cardamon and the merest hint of coconut.

Maker Notes

When something has nothing but upside, sailors say it’s “copper-bottomed.” As coincidence would have it, our Moscow Mule is darn near perfect. The ginger beer has just the right amount of kick. (We know because we make it ourselves.) Then we mix it with some premium vodka and a little all-natural lime. Copper-bottomed indeed.
