THE LIQUID

Tuaca is an enticing blend of Italian Brandy, Mediterranean Citrus and Vanilla Spice. It has a storied history with a recipe that remains much the same as when it helped fuel the Italian Renaissance. Tuaca is a fine spirit with subtle notes of vanilla and citrus, hints of butterscotch, cola, dried fig and other flavors that reveal themselves uniquely to each individual drinker. The result is a complex and versatile flavor that can be enjoyed chilled or used to bring new life to your favorite cocktail.

THE HISTORY

Legend has it that the liquid was first blended to commemorate Lorenzo de Medici. Remembered as The Magnificent, Lorenzo ruled over Florence, Italy in the 15th century and was a generous benefactor to artists who ultimately defined this remarkable time. The resulting recipe created in his honor has since survived more than 500 years.

The fine brandy used to make Tuaca comes from a town east of Roma named Anagni, known for producing some of the finest grapes in Italy.

In the 1930s, brothers-in-law Gaetano Tuoni and Giorgio Canepa recreated the recipe and named it Tuaca, a combination of their last names. And During World War II, American servicemen stationed in Livorno, Italy discovered the unique flavor of Tuaca and searched for it, albeit in vain, upon their return to America. In the late 1950s, an astute importer from San Francisco brought Tuaca to the United States to begin its reign as the perfect spirit to turn an ordinary night into one you will remember forever.

Mischief Farm Blackberries
We start with a floral and bright gin base (Tod & Vixen’s Dry Gin 1651) and steep blackberries in the finished gin for 24 hours.  The resulting flavor is fresh and bright with a balanced sweetness and a gorgeous natural magenta color.

Red Rooibos Tea
Red Rooibos comes solely from South Africa. The tea has a warm earthy flavor that compliments the pine and citrus flavors in our gin.

Bitter Orange Peel
Bitter oranges, not to be confused with their cousin the Bergamot, are used in preserves and medicinally around the world. We use their peel to compliment the fresh citrus notes and add another dimension to our gin and your cocktails.

Juniper Berries
Juniper is the only essential botanical in all gin. The word gin is derived from the Dutch word for juniper, jenever. While found in most temperate climates, we found the best growing region to be Southern Europe, specifically Macedonia. Juniper gives our gin it’s signature fresh pine and resiny aromas.

Coriander Seed
Coriander is the ripe seed of the cilantro plant. Although coriander and cilantro come from the same plant, they do not share the same flavors. Coriander adds zesty citrus notes to our gin.

Angelica Root
Historically, angelica root was used as a medicinal plant. It is now also used to flavor liquors and food. Angelica has a distinct earthiness that pairs nicely with the juniper and coriander we use in our gin.

Fresh Orange Peel
Sweet, juicy and low in acid, navel oranges are the foundation of our gin’s citrus notes.

Makrut Lime Leaves
Makrut lime leaves are native to tropical Southeast Asia and are frequently used in dishes from the region to balance the flavor of other spices – especially coriander. We use makrut lime leaves for the same purpose.

Orris Root
Orris comes from the root of the iris plant. We use orris not so much for its aromatics as a binding agent to balance and combine the other flavors in our gin.

Named by Wine Enthusiast as a “Top 100 Spirit”, our signature rum is one of the rarest rums in the world. We make it from the fresh juice of estate-grown Hawaiian heirloom sugarcane (kō) on our farm in Kohala, Hawai‘i. The sugarcane juice is fermented using a special yeast and distilled in a handmade, copper pot still to 60-74% ABV. This slow, careful process makes delicious and flavorful rum that showcases the magnificence of the kō.

Less than 5% of rum is made as an Agricole: rum made from fresh sugarcane juice.

Glendalough is an idyllic little town in eastern Ireland. Gaelic for "valley of two lakes," it was said to have been founded by a man named Saint Cemgen also known as Saint Kevin. The Glendalough Distillery, Ireland's first new craft distillery, was set up by five friends from Wicklow and Dublin with a deep passion for reviving the heritage of craft distilling in Ireland. The 18th & 19th centuries there were the glory days of the Irish whiskey industry, with over 200 licensed distilleries in all of Ireland. There were also countless unlicensed distilleries at the time, producing diverse styles of poitn, whiskey, gin and even absinthe. But through a series of unfortunate events, the Irish Whiskey Industry dried to a trickle in the 1970's. Glendalough Distillery is part of a revival of this Irish heritage. Their philosophy is "to make innovative spirits while staying true to the tradition and heritage of our ancestors." Glendalough started out making poitn the traditional Irish distillate made in small pot stills. From there they seamlessly transitioned to whiskey production, and most recently, seasonal,wild botanical gins. All of their production is handmade. Working alongside local forager Geraldine Kavanagh, only the freshest botanical ingredients are foraged in the wild Wicklow country side. Small batches of this award winning seasonal gin are distilled in Holstein copper stills. No more than 3,000 bottles are produced each season, and each season yields a different character, creating something really special. "The unpredictable Irish weather resulting in an ever changing array of botanicals, berries and fruit. Each season will bring a different gin with varying taste and style" (producer).

In 1776, John and James McConnell opened their Belfast distillery where they crafted the first recorded Irish Whisky brand. McConnell's Irish Whisky was a popular export worldwide, including America, where it became popular from New York to California. However, due to Prohibition and Wars around the world, the impact was too much and the distillery was closed in the 1930s.

Today, the legendary McConnell's Irish Whisky is now restored to bar rooms and saloons from Belfast to Boston! Aged 5 years, our fine blend of Irish Malt and Irish Grain Whisky is gently rested in Select Bourbon Casks bringing out beautiful overtones of vanilla sweetness with the quality of Irish in the background. This perfect blend between malted barely & grain has been carefully tried and tested resulting in a new finish to the iconic brand.

Situated in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland, Dufftown is known as the Whisky Capital of the World. The village, which produces more malt whisky than any other town in Scotland, is home to seven distilleries, the oldest of which is Mortlach Distillery. Mortlach's signature distillation method processes the liquid exactly 2.81 times a complex technique. This fifteen-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is finished in ex-bourbon casks, delivering bold, smooth notes of vanilla and spice on the palate. The smash-hit series Game of Thrones has teamed up with spirits giant Diageo, to create a collection of rare Scotches inspired by the royal Houses of Westeros. In honor of the Emmy-winning show, these iconic whiskies serve as must-have collectibles for Game of Thrones and Scotch adorers. This Mortlach single malt is inspired by the three-eyed raven. Presented in a metallic gold canister featuring an illustration of the Three-Eyed Raven, the design pays homage to the King of the North Bran Stark, who served as the Three-Eyed Raven and granted independence of the kingdom of the north. Called Six Kingdoms Mortlach Single Malt Scotch Whisky, is the ninth and final bottling to join the Game of Thrones-inspired range.
