For Shay Smith and his family, it is where their life-adventure and OCEAN Organic Vodka began. Being born and raised on Maui provided the luxury to explore this tropical paradise, which included passionately riding its magnificent ocean waves. The Hawaiian Islands are his home and a magical place worth sharing. After returning from college and some International travel, Shay was encouraged by his entrepreneurial parents to create a premium product from Hawaii with the desire of making it available around the world.

The Vision

The idea of OCEAN Organic Vodka was sparked by an article in the newspaper about one of Hawaii's natural resources - desalinated deep ocean mineral water off the Kona coast of the Bid Island, This coupled with a collection of experiences like relaxing on the Ianai after a long day, enjoying a lobation and "talking-story" with friends and family became the basis for this celebratory creation 

Ocean Vodka is distilled from pure organic sugar cane using continuous column distillation through 103 platelets. Each platelet acts as a mini-distillation, resulting in an exceptionally pure spirit.

In 1988, near a scenic stream called Lithia Creek in Ashland, Oregon, Jack Joyce and Bob Woodell, fraternity brothers at the University of Oregon, opened the doors of Rogue Brewery. For fifteen years, Rogue Brewery brewed beers such as Dead Guy Ale, Dad's Little Helper and Brutal IPA under the tutelage of John Maier, Rogue Brewery's brewmaster. Then, with the addition of Master Distiller John Couchot in 2003, Rogue Spirits was born. Couchot, who earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Evergreen State College in Washington, was a professional chemist for six years before jumping ship to make spirits. They take pride in all their whiskeys being handcrafted. This starts at the selection of grains, brewing, and distilling, then ends with aging and bottling. All Rogue's spirits are made from ingredients off their own Rogue farms and Rolling Thunder Stouted Whiskey is no exception. It's a handcrafted limited single malt whiskey distilled in small batches. It is aged for three years, spending the first in new Oregon Oak barrels and the remaining 2 in stout Oregon Oak barrels that used to hold their own Rolling Thunder Russian imperial stout. Combining the spice and citrus with deep and dark tones from the stout, it's single malt and bourbon, walking hand in hand.

The Fusion Series celebrates the blending of newer and older bourbons to create something unique. The younger spirits are 100% our own product mellowed with hand- selected, supremely aged bourbon that beautifully complements our specific recipes. As we grow, our bourbon ages — a difference you can taste with each Fusion release. Two vibrant, high-rye Kentucky bourbons are beautifully balanced by a bold 12-year Kentucky expression. The round mouthfeel leads to sizzle and spice on the palate making this Fusion a unique, standout blend.

Ripe apricot, mint, and green tea are balanced by layers of caramel and honey over baked apples. A refreshing, lively spice awakens the palate and leads to a balanced, signature Fusion finish.

Each winter, Marko Karakasevic, master distiller at Charbay Distillery, travels to Central California and selects organically grown, tree-ripened blood oranges at their peak maturity. The oranges are delivered to his distillery in St. Helena, California within three days and crushed skins and all by Marko (a 13th generation master distiller!) and his team. Blood oranges' distinctive crimson pigment is a result of high levels of anthocyanins, an antioxidant thought to protect against ailments such as cancer, inflammation and diabetes. Grown in cool climates, blood oranges are more intense than ordinary oranges and have unique, raspberry-like flavors in addition to typical citrus notes. Using a secret process that takes nearly six months, Marko and his team extract the flavor, color and antioxidants from the blood oranges. The fruit extract is then blended with Charbay's award-winning Clear Vodka. Charbay Clear Vodka, which has been rated the best vodka in the world twice by the Spirit Journal, is distilled from 100% American Midwest corn and rye. Founded in 1982 by German-born Jrg Rupf, St. George Spirits is one of the oldest craft distilleries in the United States. The distillery, housed in an old World War II airplane hangar on a former naval base on the edge of San Francisco, is home to Lance Winters, mad scientist and St. George's master distiller. Winters, who is widely-known for experimenting with different types of spirits, has a laboratory dominated by a 10-liter test still in addition to the glass beakers and graduated cylinders that cover every inch of counterspace. Next to the dusty chalkboards caked with equations for the conversion of sugar to alcohol and intricate diagrams of molecular structures are bottles of experimental whiskies, vodkas and even an aging balsamic vinegar (it's 14 years old already). St. George makes their Dry Rye Gin in the same 1,500-liter copper pot still that they use to make their Terroir and Botanivore Gins. These Gins each have intricate botanicals bills designed to create a layered olfactory experience. St. George's also makes a limited-release, barrel-aged version they call Dry Rye Reposado Gin. Rested in French and American oak wine casks, it has a lovely pink hue and a deep, rich flavor. For their Dry Rye Gin they chose only six botanical ingredients: juniper berries steal the shown this expression, having 50% more than any of their gins. The botanicals are complemented by black peppercorn, caraway, coriander, grapefruit peel, lime peelwhich were all designed to play up the juniper's peppery nature. A base of 100% pot-distilled rye makes for a very unconventional gin, but a unique option for whiskey lovers. This gin has structure, spice, and an impeccably rich mouthfeel. Warm and spicy, it has a natural affinity with bitters, citrus, stone fruit, and ginger (St. George's).
