Milam & Greene was created by founder Marsha Milam, whiskey expert and Master Blender Heather Greene, and Kentucky veteran Master Distiller Marlene Holmes. The Castle Hill Series Batch Two, the second release of our limited-edition batch of 13-year-old hand-selected straight bourbon whiskies bottled at barrel proof. It celebrates the art of batching well-aged casks, one of the many methods Milam & Greene enlists to create its award-winning range of whiskies. The series is named for the historic Texas Military Institute, also known as “The Castle,” in Austin, Texas that is home to Heather Greene’s blending lab.

Milam & Greene The Castle Hill Series Batch Two shines in the glass with a deep burnt amber color. On the nose it is a dichotomy of youthful vigor and aged splendor with scents of warm peach cobbler, brown sugar, and vanillas with hints of almond and milk chocolate. Bottled at cask strength of 111 proof (55.5 % ABV), this potent straight bourbon whiskey features velvety, opulent flavors of caramel, cinnamon, cherry, vanilla, and tobacco with a warming and long finish.   

Just 26 vintage barrels were married to create this superb whiskey, making it our most limited release. The Castle Hill Series carries the oldest age statement in the Milam & Greene family of whiskies, and each batch includes the distillery’s most exclusive casks.

TASTING NOTES

Finish: Warm and rich

The name Glencadam is derived from the area known as The Tenements of Caldhame. These tenements were plots of land given to the burghs of Brechin for the purpose of food production. The Glencadam distillery is geographically surrounded by these plots, which are situated to the north and south east of the Den Burn. Glencadam is located in the Burgh of Brechin and was built in wake of the Excise Act of 1823. As the only distillery in Angus county, the distillery was owned by George Cooper, before he sold the distillery to David Scott in 1827. The distillery was later acquired by Gilmour Thompson & Co, a Glasgow blender who purchased the distillery in 1891. In 1954 Glencadam was sold to Canadian distiller Hiram Walker, as a part of a large acquisition that took place in Scotland. Then distillery proceeded to become a part of Allied distillers, who mothballed the facility in 2000 and was purchased three short years later by Angus Dundee of London, who are also owners of the Tomintoul distillery in Speyside. Glencadam single malts are quality Whiskies, no chill filtering or coloring additives are used. Sourcing water from the Barry Burn, the facility houses two stills with a capacity to produce 14,000 liters. Glencadam also sources unpeated industrial maltings for their single malts, and they age their Whisky in mostly ex-Bourbon American casks. The Whiskies are distilled using a technique that maximizes reflux. Upward sloped lyne arms on the stills impart a distinctly floral, pear-drop element to the Whisky. Glencadam Whiskies also have other signature characteristics, like rich oily textures, and creamy flavors. The Glencandam range is a diverse lineup of Whiskies that include Portwood and Oloroso Sherry cask finishes. Glencadam Origin 1825 is the first NAS (non age statement) Whisky to be released by Glencadam. Launched in 2016 this single malt was matured first in American-white-oak bourbon barrels, then finished in oloroso-sherry butts. This Highland spirit effervesces notes of fruit and flowers. It's a smooth single malt, not overly complex, a perfecter starter Whisky for aspiring aficionados!

DOS PASIONES Mezcales are 100% Maguey.

Ranging from 7 to 20 years, every agave is harvested to maximize taste with maturity proving that the best things in life always take time. Santa Maria’s rich mineral-soil and natural spring water sources offer unique mezcal flavors, which extend a sublime experience to all the senses. Our distillation process is also completely artisanal yet remains true to Oaxaca’s deep tradition for its spirits and liquor.

DOS PASIONES TEPEZTATE:

Our Tepeztate comes from wild agaves that grows in our village mountains between the rocks and cliffs. Unlike the Tobalá, this agave is big in size but produces very little nectar due to the dry and arid regions where it grows. Additionally, Tepeztate takes between 12 to 20 years to be ready for harvest.

AROMA: Fruity, berries, tropical, fruit loops, watermelon rind, mineral soil, and sweet herbs.

About the Brand

Central City Brewery’s master brewer Gary Lohin and master distiller Stuart McKinnon tag teamed to produce this single malt Canadian whisky. Gary takes care of producing a flavorful fermentation then passes it to Stuart who distills a full-bodied distillate. This single malt has been aged for three years in ex-bourbon barrels then bottled at 43%. Exclusive to Canada.

Lohin McKinnon Chocolate Malt Crafted with highly kilned chocolate malted barley, this Lohin McKinnon limited edition single malt whisky exudes notes of vanilla and chocolate. Aged in French Sauternes wine barrels, it builds with a complex dark fruit character and mild sweetness.

Founded in 1952, the Kumesen Syuzo Distilling Co began distilling spirits made from Long Grain Indica Rice and fermented with native Black Koji. Blavod Original Black Vodka is a uniquely dramatic and stylish Vodka with a superb, clean taste.

The South East Asian herb Black Catechu, which is extracted from the bark of the Acacia tree, is subtly infused into premium triple distilled grain vodka, produces an elegant, smooth tasting premium vodka with an eye catching black look like no other. The final result is a clean tasting premium vodka which is both alluringly dark and exquisitely smooth.

Distilled in a 450-liter Christian Carl pot still manufactured in Goppingen, Germany, Dry Fly Gin is handcrafted by Don Poffenroth and Kent Fleischmann, the master distillers at Dry Fly Distilling. After training in distillery operation withAlexander Plank and Nick Haasein Germany, Don and Kent opened the doors of Dry Fly Distillery in 2007, making it the first legal distillery in Washington state since Prohibition. Don and Kent have embraced a grains-to-glass approach to craft distilling they use only locally-sourced grains and botanicals grown at sustainable farms. Their commitment to sustainable farming is reflected in the gin's recipe which calls for juniper, coriander, lavender, Eastern Washington soft winter wheat, mint, dried Fuji apples and hops. This unique recipe gives the gin an apple and honeysuckle nose and a sweet, well-balanced flavor. This balance means that the gin makes for an unusually sublime martini garnished with either lemon peels or olives. The recipe also earned Dry Fly Gin the Silver Medal at the Micro Liquor Spirits Awards in 2011 and the Gold Medal at the New York World Wine & Spirit Competition the same year.
