Since the early 1900’s we've been known for exploring the ways in which different casks can influence our whisky and this single malt is an outstanding example of our experimental style. Matured first in American oak casks in the traditional Glen Moray way, it is then finished in Chardonnay white wine casks. These casks layer tropical fruit and warm spice on our whisky's classic vanilla notes, culminating in this sweetly approachable dram.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Old Gold

NOSE: Spicy apple and pear, key lime pie and cinnamon sugar.

TASTE: Caramelised tropical fruits, hints of freshly ground pepper and sweet vanilla.

FINISH: Tropical fruit and nutty vanilla flavours combine to deliver a finish which is both intense and warm.

He is god of snow, Son of Sif, step-son of Thor—he is ULLR, the norse god of skiing. He is so fierce a bowman and ski-runner that none may contend! Just as it is good to invoke his name in duels, it is appropriate when you start a run, go off a kicker, or attack steep moguls. The unique combination of peppermint and cinnamon in ULLR encapsulates the winter sports experience. Clear as melted snow, it starts out with a bracing peppermint flavor, but melts into a warm cinnamon finish. ULLR can be enjoyed in a variety of ways—in hot chocolate, in coffee and cold brew or on the rocks…but it really shines served ice cold and straight up, preferably right out of the snow.

A blend of de-alcoholized organic French Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines, organic grape juice, Gensac spring water and natural organic flavors such as lemon. 

Ocean Vodka is distilled from pure organic sugar cane using continuous column distillation through 103 platelets. Each platelet acts as a mini-distillation, resulting in an exceptionally pure spirit.

Ocean Vodka is the only spirit in the world made with 100% deep ocean mineral water, sourced from 3,000 feet below the Kona Coast of the Island of Hawaii. The water in Ocean Vodka contains trace minerals including calcium, magnesium and potassium, which combine to create an exceptionally smooth and distinct flavor. Our Càirdeas expression for 2023 brings together the best of much loved Càirdeas releases over recent years. The limited-edition single malt is a combination of Madeira and White Port casks. Three quarters of the whisky is matured in second-fill Madeira casks, releasing smoky, spicy, and sweet fruit flavours. The final quarter has been finished in first-fill Port casks; the majority of these are white port, adding a hint of crisp fruit and deep woodiness to the flavour. It’s a new take on Laphroaig that plays to our strengths – welcoming friends old and new.

COLOUR: Soft burnished gold.

NOSE: Cinnamon, freshly ground ginger, crisp green apple with notes of toasted peaches, charred orange peel, and caramelized sugar with a whisper of bonfire embers.

PALATE: Honey sweetness paired with juicy citrus characters and delicate notes of hazelnut, tannic oak, dark chocolate and slightly bitter caramel leading to earthy iodine-rich smoke.

FINISH: Sweet and smooth with a lingering earthy peat and creosote phenolic character. A slight sea-salt sensation to finish.

MATURATION: Double matured with three quarters aged in Madeira casks and the final quarter aged in White Port casks.

Founded in 1982 by German-born Jrg Rupf, St. George Spirits is one of the oldest craft distilleries in the United States. The distillery, housed in an old World War II airplane hangar on a former naval base on the edge of San Francisco, is home to Lance Winters, mad scientist and St. George's master distiller. Winters, who is widely-known for experimenting with different types of spirits, has a laboratory dominated by a 10-liter test still in addition to the glass beakers and graduated cylinders that cover every inch of counterspace. Next to the dusty chalkboards caked with equations for the conversion of sugar to alcohol and intricate diagrams of molecular structures are bottles of experimental whiskies, vodkas and even an aging balsamic vinegar (it's 14 years old already). Made using juniper, Douglas Fir, California bay laurel, coastal sage and coriander seeds, along with a number of other herbs and botanicals, St. George Terroir Gin is a true California Gin. The coriander seeds are roasted inside a well-seasoned wok, which contributes an earthy, aromatic bouquet to the gin. In addition, the Douglas Fir and coastal sage are distilled individually through Winters' 250-liter copper-pot still, which minimizes seasonal configurables in the botanicals. Finally, while the fresh bay laurel leaves and juniper berries are infused through the still's botanical basket, the remainder of the botanicals are placed directly in the pot, resulting in a cleaner and crisper flavor. St. George Terroir Gin has a stunning bouquet of fresh, forest aromas, including pine and oak. The woodsy notes are complemented by bursts of juniper and sage, and lead to a crisp finish. St. George Terroir is "spectacularly evocative"according to Food and Wine Magazine, and "one of the most distinctive gins made in America"according to GQ Magazine. This gin represents a unique expression by one of America's most creative craft distilleries.

Tequila Fortaleza is a small-batch, handcrafted tequila. It is made today with the same production methods that our family used to make tequila, over one hundred and forty years ago! We select each agave for ripeness before it is harvested, and cook them by steam in our small brick oven. We then use a two-ton stone wheel called a tahona to slowly squeeze the juices from the agave. After adding water from the volcanic mountain of Tequila and separating the fibers, we ferment the musto for 3 to 5 days. When fermentation is complete, we achieve our distinctive tequila by distilling twice in two very small, copper-pot stills.

Fortaleza Reposado is aged for 6 months in used American Whiskey barrels. The time spent in the barrels softens the tequila and adds notes of sweet butter and spice. Common aromas and flavors found in our reposado are: Cooked Agave, Citrus, Sweet Butter, Caramel, Vanilla, Toasted Creme Brle, Green Apple, Cinnamon, All Spice, Black Pepper, White Pepper, Jalapeo Pepper, and Dry Earth.

All of our tequilas are deliciously wonderful and complex, and can be enjoyed neat, or in a cocktail!

Lovingly handcrafted and aged in Kentucky, Pinhook Bourbon was established in 2014 and has produced several small batch bottlings in their newly restored Castle & Key distillery in Frankfort, KY, to much critical acclaim. What makes their line unique is the brand's three distinctive characteristics: its limited availability, mass appeal and strong ties to Kentucky's legacy of horse racing. Each release of Pinhook Bourbon is named after a thoroughbred owned by Bourbon Lane Stable. The label also features the horses racing records on their brand's website. Every fall Pinhook features an annual vintage of Pinhook Bourbon and Pinhook Rye, each of which is inspired by a thoroughbred horse. Each blend is as unique as the horse on the label. Pinhooking refers to an old Kentucky term for purchasing young thoroughbreds, holding them until they mature, and selling them when they are ready to run. Successful pinhooks much like whiskey - are made on instinct, experience, an appreciation of quality, and a little luck. Pinhook bourbons and ryes are handcrafted to reflect the richness of the Kentucky soil and the character of its beautiful horse country. Limited to a blend of only 65 barrels, this Rye Humor Cask Strength release is the first edition of barrel proof straight rye whiskey from Pinhook. Blended by Sean Josephs at Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort, KY the average age of the barrels is around 4 years old. You can expect deep and dense aromas of dark chocolate, candied black licorice, and vanilla extract, followed by robust flavors of raisins, tobacco, cinnamon stick, and sarsaparilla.

Our Amaro is another expression that will leave a unique mark on the Amari scene. Flavors from birch bark, heather flowers and sea buckthorn gives this Amaro a distinctive Scandinavian flair. These are among the 31 botanicals making up this fresh expression.

A variety of complex production techniques, including water and alcohol macerations at different temperatures, brings you this balanced Amaro.

This award winning eaux-de-vie is made from forty different 100% Grande Champagne Cognacs aged a minimum of 50 years. A floral cognac with notes of budding lilac. Its nose is well balanced and surprisingly pure. A lively alcohol onset gives freshness to its subtle taste of candied cherries. Hardy Noces d'Or Sublime is a well balanced cognac with fruity and slightly woody notes that will delight any palate.

The thin glass plaque on the front of this decanter showcases the coat of arms of the Hardy family, a bold conqueror rooster. For it's new line addition, Hardy Cognac chose to revert to the golden age of the glass creation in France, the art of Nouveau style. The bas-relief decor was conceived by a well-known sculptor and crafted by famous French glass masters. Every piece has been cut, etched and polished by hand to ensure each is unique for this limited edition of Noces d'Or Sublime.

Girolamo Luxardo moved to what is today known as Zadar, Croatia in 1817 as a consular representative of Sardinia. It was his wife that became enamored with the local Dalmatian liqueur, the Rosolio Maraschino. In 1821 Girolamo opened a distillery and soon after received a certificate from the emperor of Austria that acknowledged its exceptional quality. Their liqueurs became known far and wide along with their growing and impressive range which included the Original Maraschino Cherries, Limoncello, and a cherry liqueur. By 1913 the company had grown considerably, opening a new state-of-the-art distillery. The operation along with the Luxardo bloodline barely made it through the Second World War, but a new distillery with its very own cherry orchards thrives today in Torreglia, the Veneto region of Northeast Italy. It employs traditional copper-pot stills while constantly upgrading and investing to stay at the forefront of the industry. The company remains family-owned and is ran by the fifth, sixth, and seventh generations of the Luxardo family. Their flagship Maraschino liqueur and a range of award-winning products are a cocktail staple, along with cherries, syrups, wines, brandies, and many others. Luxardo Maraschino Originale is made according to the 1821 recipe, using Luxardo marasca cherries. After they are harvested, they are placed in alcohol together with some leaves and branches and left in vats for 3 years. After that, both the liquid and solid parts are distilled with only the heart of the distillate going into ash-wood vats to mature. The final step is the addition of simple syrup, which transforms the distillate into a liqueur and brings the proof down to 64. It's perfect as a digestif, an invaluable cocktail ingredient, and goes particularly well with gelato or fruit.

Our History

Golden Moon Distillery was founded by Stephen Gould and Dr. Karen Knight in early 2008, specifically to produce premium artisan whiskies, brandies, liquors, and liqueurs using the best available ingredients and made with the same type of artisan production processes utilized by distillers making premium products in the mid-to-late 1800s.

​The heart of Golden Moon Distillery is Mr. Gould’s world-class research library containing hundreds of rare books on distillation and related products and processes, some dating back to the 1500s. Most of the collection dates from the late 1700s to the early 1900s, though there are a few titles that are much older, or newer.

​Maison De La Vie currently has four antique stills at our pilot plant in Golden. Our stills date from the early to mid-1900’s.

​Golden Moon Colorado Single Malt Whiskey is distilled from 100% malted barley, grown in Colorado and the surrounding states. Our Whiskey is malted in Colorado, aged for a minimum of one year in new oak casks, and then finished in used oak casks. Golden Moon Colorado Single Malt Whiskey is a uniquely Colorado Whiskey.

Throughout California, the 2019 growing season provided picture-perfect growing conditions. Following a cool, wet winter and spring, summer brought perfectly temperate weather that created exceptional flavor development in the grapes. Warm weather during harvest ensured ideal ripeness, resulting in dynamic whites with beautiful energy and complexity, and lush and flavorful reds with deep colors and lovely intensity.
