Jack Ryan Raglan Road 5 Year Old Irish Whiskey

Jack Ryan Whisky

700 ml | 54.9% ABV
Whiskey | Irish

Raglan Road 5 Year Old Irish Single Malt, cask strength 54.9% ABV, is another collaboration, aged in bourbon, matured in madeira, finished in imperial stout produced by Seamus McMahon’s Brehon Brewhouse. This fine craft brewery is situated in Killanny Monaghan, across the fields from poet Paddy Kavanagh’s Inniskeen homeplace. Kavanagh spent much of his life in Dublin, and was very well known around Ballsbridge and D4 in general, including the Beggars Bush (a Ryan establishment). Raglan Road seemed a fitting name for this town and country, Dublin and Monaghan, family to family, Ryan and McMahon, collaboration. An ambitious and technically difficult finish, we sent casks to Seamus in which he finished his stout, then retrieved them and filled the same day with our whiskey. We think we got it just right; judge for yourself. 3,500 bottles, numbered, and signed by Eunan Ryan.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR: Amber

NOSE: Homemade marmalade and the white toast it’s layered on. Candied orange peel, real orange peel, pound cake and panatone. Plain cookie. Cake mix and pith, and with water, orange petals on top of those peels.

PALATE: Honey nut cheerios. Bread crust. Bran biscuits, more orange peel, and thick gooey nougat. As with the nose, with water comes orange blossom water – and more cereals and citrus wax.

FINISH: Thick frosting, citrus pith, old-school orange sweets and pound cake again. Breadiness and citrus, together at last. Sultanas for a minute straight.

ABOUT TOMAS ARTESANAL CRAFT AGAVE SPIRITS

Tomas Artesanal mezcal expressions are hand-crafted, small-batch agave spirits.  We are recognized for our unique mezcals, approachable flavor profiles, and innovative blending. We produce agave expressions with a focus on quality and authenticity, and with a commitment to ‘honor the spirit,’ not just the spirit in the bottle, but the Spirit of Mexico and Mezcal. The birthplace of Tomas Artesanal, Santa Ana del Rio is a small village located in an isolated Oaxaca valley, with a rich history of artisans and mezcaleros. The ‘terroir’ of the area is a special combination of geography, geology, and climate that combine to produce distinct and delicious mezcal.  The abundant wild fruit trees interact with the wild yeast that ferments our agave mash, giving our mezcal sweet and savory notes that complement the roasted agave flavors. Tomas Artesanal has four expressions, our Espadin and Tepeztate are hand-crafted in Santa Ana Del Rio, Oaxaca.  Tomas Artesanal Raicilla is from the Sierra Occidental of Jalisco. Finally, the Reserva, winner of three gold medals, is an original cold blend ensemble of joven espadin and añejo tequilana mezcals.

Tepeztate

2022 lot production of 504 bottles. Tezpeztate has a bold, complex flavor profile. Tomas Artesanal mezcal Tepeztate is made with 100% Wild Maguey Tepeztate. Maguey Tepeztate is a prized wild agave that can take up to 25 years to mature! It is often difficult to harvest given its penchant to grow in very inaccessible locations such as steep hillsides and directly out of the face of rocky cliffs. Our artisanal mezcal Tepeztate comes from Santa Ana del Rio, a remote village 50 miles from Oaxaca City. There are about 500 inhabitants of this small community, and most are involved in the production of agave and mezcal. The agave is traditionally cooked in an earthen pit oven, milled by horse-drawn stone tahona, and double distilled in a copper still. 100% of our profits from the sale of this expression go to support agave sustainability programs. We encourage you to savor each sip of this mezcal Tepeztate, knowing the time mother nature took to grow the agave and the hand-crafted skill that went into producing it. Mastro Mezcalero Roque Cruz

J. Lohr Estates Riverstone Arroyo Seco Chardonnay 2018

J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines

750 ml | 12% ABV
Wine | Chardonnay

VINTAGE
The 2018 growing season was characterized by a cool spring in the Arroyo Seco. Cool, foggy mornings and evenings, with daytime highs in the 80s through the summer, provided optimum weather for ripening Chardonnay. The warm weather in September, along with the recurring afternoon winds, provided the slow ripening needed to maximize flavors and textures. The Chardonnay harvest began on October 4th, which was later than recent vintages. Our Riverstone Chardonnay is now comprised of nine Chardonnay clones - 4, 5, 17, 76, 95, 96, 548, 809 and Hyde-Wente, each bringing one component to the complexity of flavors, textures and acidities in the final blend.

VINEYARDS
The vines for our J. Lohr Estates Riverstone Chardonnay are grown primarily on Elder loam soils underlain by “riverstones” deposited over thousands of years by the Arroyo Seco River. These stones limit soil depth from one to four feet, although roots are found at greater depths. This unique combination of sandy loam and cobblestone soil keeps the vines’ vegetative growth and fruit in balance, while the cool climate and winds of the Salinas Valley extend the growing season - retaining the natural grape acids and intense varietal character of Chardonnay.

"The 2018 Riverstone Chardonnay exhibits youthful hues of light straw. The enticing aromas are reminiscent of white peach, apricot, ripe orange, and cocoa, and complemented by the palate flavors of citrus cream and nectarine. The rich texture and balance on the palate from aging sur lie gives way to flavors of vanilla, crème brûlée, and a touch of oak can be found on the long finish."

Maker Notes

Inspired by our love for the Monterey Peninsula, and the unrivaled beauty of Stillwater Cove, we crafted our Stillwater Rye offering to celebrate the home of one of the greatest golf experiences in the world. Stillwater Rye evokes passion from rye drinkers and non-rye drinkers alike. The balanced layering of rye and corn provides the best of rye whisky with the best of bourbon. A rare mash bill in the rye category, and one which will reinvigorate your expectations of this classic spirit.

Mash Bill: 51%, Rye, 45% Corn, 4% Malted Barley

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Stillwater is a Straight Rye, aged 6 years in charred American Oak casks. The color is a rich and brilliant medium amber mahogany, with a flame orange glint and clarity reflective of its warm and aromatic texture.

Palate: At 6 years, Stillwater Rye is reminiscent of much more mature whiskeys, and the palate speaks of a journey of the heart and mind. You will find a deep measure of wisdom with every sip. The finish is long and smooth, with notes of candied citrus and tropical fruit. Medium body with a silky viscous mouth feel.

Nose: The nose on this amber-colored gem to be loaded with caramelized apples, finely ground nutmeg, and just the right amount of rye. Perfect contrasts of sweet and spicy. To borrow a famous descriptive phrase, Stillwater Rye “floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.”

Finish: We finish long and smooth with candied citrus and tropical fruit.

Perfect enjoyed neat, but your favorite golf ball shaped cube will add a nice chill to it. Your Manhattan’s and Old Fashioned’s will be jealous, so you can share the love with them as well.
