Whiskey | Bourbon

New Year. New beginnings. New traditions. The new year is a time of renewal and fresh starts, a chance to reflect on past accomplishments and look to what lies ahead. Barrell New Year Bourbon 2025 celebrates the possibilities and optimism that every new year brings.

FLAVOR NOTES
A gentle cask influence underlies the palate while it builds on the diversity of fruit and herbs. An initial note of candied pineapple hints at a tropical depth revealed only with a splash of water.

Neat
> Appearance: Radiant copper.
> Nose: Undertones of chamomile tea and a squeeze of lemon, followed by chardonnay and pear. Dried pineapple nods toward a hidden tropical depth. A richness is revealed by notes of beeswax, wheat cracker and white chocolate. There’s a vibrant piquancy that conjures ginger ale as well as just a hint of minerality.
> Palate: A whole host of herbs typical of alpine liqueurs, notably thyme, lemon balm, and peppermint. Juicy notes of Meyer lemon and key lime pie recall the citrusy aroma. The fruit then diverges, adding lychee and grape soda. While initially subdued, the oak gains steam over time, carrying with it allspice and vanilla.
> Finish: A brief flash of wasabi jolts all the senses awake. Oils coat the palate, notably tea tree and grapefruit, but also a note of fried plantain. Maraschino liqueur, rosehip and coconut water linger.

With a few drops of spring water
It blooms with the tropical papaya, passionfruit and orange marmalade. The fruits keep coming: tart cherry, applesauce, cantaloup and more. The lower proof renders the palate richer, creamier, and spicier.

Ragtime Rye Bottled In Bond Rye Whiskey

Ragtime Rye

750 ml | 50% ABV
Whiskey | Rye

It took over 70 years after the prohibition had ended for the distilling industry to return to New York City. New York had a flourishing distilling industry by the early 19th century, however things changed during the Civil War, when President Lincoln taxed spirits to fund the military. This resulted in many distilleries going underground before the end of the century. The fatal blow for the legal distilling industry in US came in 1920, when the Eighteenth Amendment came into effect making the production of alcohol illegal. It was only in the 21st century that small distilleries started resurging in New York. The New York Distilling Company, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is one of the oldest distilleries in the city, and was founded in 2011 by Tom Potter, a co-founder of the Brooklyn Brewery, and Allen Katz, one of the nation's leading experts on distilled spirits and cocktails. The distillery specializes in gins and rye whiskeys and has been one of the pioneers of the city's distilling renaissance that builds upon the pre-prohibition heritage. Gin distilling in New York began in the 17th century, when Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam (as New York was then called) started making a version of the Dutch spirit genever. However, it wasn't until the early 19th century when the first commercial gin was produced in the US. Gin was a popular drink during the prohibition, as it was simple to make. American gin is a bit different from London and other European gins as a result of using other botanicals. The Ragtime Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey features a 75% rye, 13% corn and 12% malted barley mash bill. In addition to meeting the Empire Rye standards, this bottled-in-bond edition of New York Distilling Company's flagship Ragtime Rye is also compliant with the strict Federal Bottled in Bond Regulations. This whiskey is matured in full-size barrels for a minimum of four years and is bottled at 50% ABV.

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin

Drumshanbo

750 | 43% ABV
Gin

A captivating and distinctive gin that showcases the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the Irish distilling tradition. Created in the rural town of Drumshanbo in County Leitrim, Ireland, this gin pays homage to the rich history and botanical treasures of its surroundings.

At the heart of this gin lies a unique selection of botanicals, carefully chosen to create a flavor profile that is both intriguing and harmonious. The name "Gunpowder" is derived from one of its key botanicals, Chinese Gunpowder green tea, which infuses the spirit with its distinct and aromatic character. This exotic ingredient adds a layer of complexity and depth to the gin, setting it apart from traditional gin offerings.

The creation of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin begins with the slow and meticulous distillation of the botanicals in medieval copper pot stills. This traditional method allows for the precise extraction of flavors, ensuring the utmost quality and integrity of the gin. The botanicals, including juniper berries, angelica root, orris root, caraway seeds, and many others, are carefully balanced to achieve a harmonious blend of flavors.

Upon tasting, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin delights the senses with a distinctive freshness and vibrancy. The prominent notes of citrus, spice, and juniper are beautifully complemented by the herbal and floral undertones, resulting in a well-rounded and balanced gin.

The addition of Gunpowder green tea provides a pleasant and unique twist, contributing a subtle smokiness and a lingering finish that lingers on the palate. This unexpected combination of flavors creates a truly memorable drinking experience, making Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin stand out among its gin counterparts.

Kentucky Owl Confiscated Bourbon Whiskey

Kentucky Owl

750 ml | 48% ABV
Whiskey | Bourbon

Kentucky Owl was founded by Charles Mortimer Dedman, a local pharmacist, in 1879. After marrying his wife, Dedman was given a large parcel of land on the banks of the Kentucky River, as a wedding gift from his adopted father who was a local town judge. C.M. Dedman Distillery was established here on the banks of the Kentucky River, producing "The Wise Man's Bourbon" under Distilled Spirits Plant Designation "No. 16," one of Kentucky's original distilleries and part of a booming industry. Kentucky Owl achieved much success and production continued until Prohibition halted distillation. The family-run facility was no match for the "forces of teetotalism, temperance and eventually, the Feds" (producer). In 1916, Prohibition left several local distilleries with ample reserves of bourbon. As for Kentucky Owl, approximately 250,000 gallons of bourbon were left over in various stages of aging. Today these reserves would be worth about $40 million in inventory. After Federal agents descended on the Dedman's distillery, the bourbon was seized and shipped up the river by barge to the state capital in Frankfort for "safekeeping" in a warehouse. Currently Kentucky Owl is in the midst of designing a stunning state-of-the-art distillery park with rickhouses for aging, a bottling center, as well as a vintage dinner train to stop on the property. Kentucky Owl Park will be built at Cedar Creek Quarry in Bardstown. The 420-acre site will boast beautiful lakes with crystal clear, limestone-filtered water that will be used in our whiskey production. The Stoli Group has turned to the world-renownedShigeru Ban Architects to oversee the project. Bottled at 96.4 proof, Confiscated delivers notes of floral gardenia and honeysuckle, along with grape, red apple, orange cuties, wet banana bread and toasty sourdough bread crust on the nose. The palate is reminiscent of graham crackers, toffee, muted sweet cinnamon spice, and fresh-squeezed orange juice balanced with white grapes and finishing with a hint of cayenne.
