Hand Barrel Single Barrel select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Hand Barrel

750 ml | 52.5% ABV
Whiskey | Bourbon

Maker Notes

From barrel to bottle, Hand Barrel was established to bring you a whiskey experience unlike any other. We sought to create a vessel that was unique, sleek, and unlike anything else in the industry; a contemporary take on a centuries-old American pastime that would also protect the vital liquid gold inside. Once the bottle was perfected, we sought out a handcrafted bourbon that would match our bottle in quality.

There are a thousand small, yet critical decisions that go into making a batch of bourbon. Each and every step of Hand Barrel’s process has been considered and deliberate; from the territory of distillation, the mix of grains utilized in our mash bill, the height at which our barrels are matured in the rickhouse, and the individual barrels selected for each bottling run. The resulting product, true in character, rich and authentic, is exactly how we like our bourbon.

Whether it’s our unique mash bill, our #4 alligator charred barrels that impart spice and complexity, or our non-chill filtered process, we are constantly searching for the X factor that will elevate Hand Barrel to the next level.

Cierto Blanco Tequila

The Most Awarded Tequila in History 602 INTERNATIONAL MEDALS AND AWARDS

Made as Nature and Time Intended from the Finest Highlands Agave

Cierto Tequila represents thousands of years of biological and cultural evolution. It is nature’s ritual in a glass –no additives, no artificial ingredients, no shortcuts. Our Master Distillers, Enrique Fonseca and Sergio Mendoza, are fourth- and fifth-generation agaveros, whose family has grown agave since the 1800s. Like fine winemakers who farm the land themselves, their growers' lens and deep knowledge of agave make for the best tasting Tequila. The truth is right here in Jalisco.

Cierto is made with fully mature, estate-grown agave from the Atotonilco Highlands, where the ancient red clay soil coaxes its roots to grow deeper and absorb its complex minerality. Enrique and Sergio personally tend to each orchard, harvesting plant-by-plant only when they recognize it has reached its potential, at the Maduro and Pinto stages. At La Tequileña distillery in the town of Tequila, agave is hand-cut and slowly cooked in low pressure ovens to yield the juice that forms Cierto's base. Inspired by Scotch whisky-making, we distill twice, in copper pots and column stills, to showcase the natural character of the terroir and agave.

Cierto is made with pure water filtered through ancient volcanic springs at the Volcán de Tequila. Only natural ingredients are used: water, yeast and agave. Nothing artificial is ever added to Cierto. It takes time to perfect a great Tequila. Our aged tequilas are gently matured in French Limousin oak casks which previously held fine wine, cognac and Armagnac – persuading the agave’s delicate essence to emerge.

Each blend includes rare tequilas from the Fonseca family’s private tequila library, a vast collection spanning a variety of cellar characteristics.

DESCRIPTION

Cierto Private Collection Blanco is a perfect representation of agave. Rested before bottling, the aroma is fresh and herbaceous, imparting sweet floral notes. This expression displays elegance and complexity that inspires the senses while remaining smooth and fresh. Perfect for margaritas or served on the rocks as a light pre-dinner cocktail.

“A finely crafted, luxurious tequila with remarkable smoothness.”

The story of Nevada H & C Distilling Co. begins in 2004 when the screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh met co-founder Aaron Chepenik in a bar in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles. They quickly realized they had the same vision of opening a bar, opening The Griffin together. After a couple years of sampling their inventory, they began discussing what they liked and didn't like about the bourbons and vodkas they were selling. One night, the idea of creating their own spirits popped up, which eventually led to them opening the first distillery in the city of Las Vegas. The City Council had to create a license especially for them since none existed beforehand. It took them 6 years of gathering equipment and setting it up, with several hurdles along the way. The bright side was that by the time they opened their doors they had several high-rye bourbons ready, which meant they could begin operating immediately. They have two brands under their belt now, both with several medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition: Silver Dollar American Vodka and Smoke Wagon. The latter comprises several bourbons, including the Smoke Wagon Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey. It's a high-rye bourbon that was aged in hand-picked barrels at the heart of their old warehouse, ensuring the consistency of its flavor. It's a blend of their younger, rye-forward vintages with smoother, creamier, and sweeter older whiskey. Bold and intense, this expression is bottled at 100 proof and has received a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2016, 2017, and 2020.

The Brand Story

Made in America and RAISED IN THE SOUTH.

We launched Dixie Vodka in 2014 with a simple mission: to create an all-American premium craft vodka that represented the best of Southern flavor, craftsmanship, and hospitality. We’ve come a long way from selling our vodka door-to-door in our hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, but our mission has remained the same. We continue to search high and low to uncover the best flavors of the South to hand-infuse into our award-winning lineup of vodkas. They come from small towns and big cities; they are grown from our soil, are crafted by our hands, and represent the South in our backyard and beyond—just like all of us.

VODKA WITH A SOUTHERN DRAWL.

Our flagship vodka, Dixie Southern Vodka, is The South’s Best Tasting Vodka—and we’re not whistlin’ Dixie. Our smooth Southern spirit has won a whole mess of awards to back it up. It is the perfect companion for whatever wets your whistle. Dixie Southern is 6x distilled from all-American corn, naturally gluten free, and Certified South Carolina product.

As smooth and refreshing as a “breath of fresh mountain air,” our classic corn-based vodka serves as the perfect backdrop for any creative or classic cocktail in the book.

Tasting Notes

This vodka has a clear color and a fragrance that evokes scents of lemon loaf, poppy seeds, pine, and a mountain stream. It has a smooth and vibrant texture with a light body and a dry taste, followed by a warming, medium-length aftertaste of a slightly sweet ethanol and a touch of dried cherry. This crisp and refreshing vodka feels like a breath of fresh mountain air, offering a clean and invigorating experience.

In 1895, Samuele Sebastiani emigrated to the United States from Tuscany. A stonemason by trade, he quarry-mined the hills of Sonoma, California for cobblestones that were used to build the streets of San Francisco. He worked long hours, lived frugally and saved carefully, and in 1904, purchased enough land in Sonoma to open the doors to Sebastiani Winery. Sebastiani Winery was the only winery in Sonoma to remain open during Prohibition, and, as the Great Depression set in, Samuele carried out major construction projects in Sonoma including building an ice-skating rink and hotel in order to create jobs. Today, August Sebastiani, Samuel's great-grandson, is the President of 35 Maple Street Distillery, the makers of Uncle Val's Restorative Gin. The gin is named after Vaerio Cecchetti, Sebastiani's favorite uncle and a retired physician near Lucca, Italy. "In addition to being a highly regarded doctor, Uncle Val is a great cook and avid gardener," says Sebastiani. While Uncle Val's Botanical Gin is crafted from a botanical bill composed of five ingredients (juniper, lemon, sage, lavender and cucumber), Uncle Val's Peppered Gin uses only four botanicals: juniper, red bell pepper, black pepper and pimento. Sebastiani uses immersion bags (think big tea bags) in order to infuse the gin with the flavors from the botanicals. The immersion bags are steeped in the gin for several hours, although some remain in the gin longer in order to impart a heavier aroma and flavor. The juniper adds a classic element of tartness and crispness to the gin. From there, Uncle Val's Peppered Gin becomes something entirely its own. The roasted red peppers add a unique earthiness, while the black pepper adds a clear spice that's balanced by a savoriness gleaned from the pimento. After the gin is distilled five times over, Sebastiani's team filters it using carbon and lava rock (or pumice), which has a porous density that's perfect for filtering gin. Then, the gin is brought to proof using naturally sweet spring water from the Cascade Mountains before being bottled and labeled by hand. "Gin was invented in the Netherlands by a doctor, Franciscus Sylvius, who was a professor of medicine in Leyden, Holland, back in the 1650s," Sebastiani says. "He was trying to find a cure-all for kidney and stomach disorders, so he infused juniper berries into distilled spirits. The elixir became so popular that distillers began commercial production and by the end of the 1680, the Dutch were exporting more than 10 million gallons of gin each year. Gin is the only spirit that started out as a medicine, so it's fitting that we named ours after Uncle Val." Uncle Val's Peppered Gin is truly unlike any other gin on the market.

A bouquet characterized by freshness: Initial notes of fresh white flowers evolve towards sweet, fragrant pastries, with occasional scents of fresh walnuts, hazelnuts and biscuits. In parallel, the fruit is crisp, freshly ripened, with aromas of pear, white peach and nectarine.

A HARMONIOUS PALATE: The attack is soft, supple and fluid. The palate then develops texture, with a softness like cashmere or felt. This initial softness gradually reveals a purity, the crisp structure lengthens, lingering, to offer an iodized, tangy finish, underscored by a mouthwatering hint of grapefruit.

Tomatin 12 Year Old Cuatro Manzanilla Sherry Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Tomatin

750 ml | 46% ABV
Whiskey | Scotch

Situated over 1,000 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Monadhliath Mountains, Tomatin Distillery is one of the highest distilleries in Scotland. Its origins date back to the 15th century when drivers, bringing their cattle over the high mountain passes to the Tomatin market, filled their flasks from a still hidden at the Old Laird's House, which is situated adjacent to the distillery. Since that time, centuries of isolation and generations of family tradition (some workers at the distillery are the fifth generation of their family to work there) have created a distillery rooted in Scottish heritage and tradition. Tomatin 12-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from plump, Scottish barley. After the barley is harvested, it is mashed and fermented before being distilled twice through Tomatin's copper-pot stills. The stills have a round, flat shape that gives the whisky a rounder and sweeter flavor profile, notes Douglas Campbell, Tomatin's master distiller. Campbell, who began working at the distillery in 1961, joined Tomatin as an accountant, doing clerical work. "After that, the managing director, John McDonald, took me under his wing and gave me the chance to work in different parts of the distillery. I did mashing for three or four years, distilling for a couple of years, worked in the warehouses. Eventually, I was one of the charge hands getting casks ready for dispatch." Campbell has over fifty years of experience at Tomatin Distillery. "My father worked here as a cooper, my wife worked here for 10 years as secretary for the managing director, and my son works here now in the warehouse. I was born in Tomatin, I belong to Tomatin. Campbell's expertise is the foundation of Tomatin Whiskies. The distillery has produced several beautiful whiskies, full of character, including their Cuatro range, an exploratory series of biologically and oxidatively sherry aged cask finishes. A simple yet original idea; exploring Sherry in its different states, the intricate depths of its character. To produce these whiskies, Tomatin crafts a single batch of whisky distilled on January 15th, 2002. The batch is matured for nine years in traditional ex-bourbon casks, then transitionedto various first-fill sherry casks for another three years. The range is a tribute to four (Cuatro) different types of Sherry: Manzanilla and Fino which are two biologically aged sherries, and the more traditionally used Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximnez Sherriestwo oxidative sherries. These whiskies showcase the unique characteristics of both oxidative and biological sherry finishes. This biological sherry cask finished single malt is aged for 12 years in Manzanilla casks. Rather mellow on the nose, this whisky offers sweet hints of fruit on the palate.
