Our 2017 J. Lohr Cuvée PAU leads with aromas of red currant and cherry, enveloped in oak-inspired notes of cedar, cigar box, and toasted coconut. Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine, in the manner of classic Left Bank wines from Pauillac.

VINTAGE

Generous rains fell prior to the 2017 vintage, ending an unprecedented 5-year throughout California. Budbreak occurred a few days later than normal in 2017, which is typical for wet years. Crop set was light, with yields on this Cabernet block in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles reaching just 2.3 tons per acre. This late-ripening block of Cabernet Sauvignon was more than eight weeks away from harvest during a September heat wave, so it came through the heat spike unharmed. In this vintage, we saw a higher level of tannin structure and flavor ripeness, echoing the string of great vintages from ‘12 to ‘14.

CUVÉE PAU

The inspiration for this blend comes from the Grand Cru wines of the Pauillac district of Bordeaux, which are traditionally composed from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with occasional acccents from Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. Our J. Lohr winemaking team is given the freedom to emulate these great Bordeaux wines through the prism of our world-class Paso Robles fruit.

Legent is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey partially finished in wine and sherry casks. But it's more than that. Taken from the center-cut or middle sections of the famous Warehouse H, Blanton’s Original Single Barrel was once designated for ambassadors, dignitaries, and Colonel Blanton’s family and friends. Today, everyone has access to the world’s first single barrel bourbon. The taste profile is sweet, with notes of citrus and oak. The creamy vanilla nose is teased with caramel and butterscotch, all underscored by familiar baking spices such as clove, nutmeg, or cinnamon. Blanton’s Original set the standard for single barrel bourbons in 1984. Best served neat or on the rocks. Bottled at 46.5% alcohol by volume.

Our Chardonnay is hand-picked at dawn from several Sonoma County vineyards to maintain ideal brix levels of 24° to 24.5°. Once at the winery, we whole cluster press the fruit and gently rack into French and Hungarian oak barrels for fermentation.100% barrel fermented and aged sur lie for 9 months. Duo of French and Hungarian oak (50% new), 80% ML.

WINEMAKER NOTES

Raeburn Chardonnay shows an array of complex fruit tones ranging from pear and Gravenstein apple to nectarine. The fruit is beautifully complemented with toasted oak, vanilla and hints of Crème Brûlée with a balanced and elegant finish.
