LABEL INSPIRATION
The third release of the Booker's® Bourbon 2023 Collection is Booker's Batch 2023-03 "Mighty Fine Batch." This batch is named in honor of the signature phrase my dad, Booker Noe, used to compliment anything he approved of - from his namesake bourbon to his country ham. If you knew Booker, then you knew "mighty fine" was his go-to phrase. He would often get together with other folks in the bourbon industry to taste samples of Booker's Bourbon, and everyone knew he was happy with his selection when he sipped it and said it was "mighty fine," followed by, "that's a damn good batch!". Shortly before Dad passed away in 2004, I selected the barrels for a Booker's Bourbon batch for the very first time. I was a little nervous at first; I had big shoes to fill. After tasting the sample I shared with him, he looked at me and said, "Mighty fine job, son." A lot of people thought it was one of the best batches, but receiving Dad's vote of confidence made it that much more special for me. I'll never forget that moment. Booker was not one to embellish his compliments with many descriptive words, but I have a feeling he would say this batch is mighty fine. I hope you think so too.

The Featherbone Factory built by E.K. Warren in the 19th century to manufacture women's corsets sits on the banks of Lake Michigan just across the Indiana border in Three Oaks, Michigan. As the factory changed hands in the twentieth century, it became a production site for everything from buggy whips to pickles. Today, it's home to Journeyman Distillery and Bill Welter, Journeyman's master distiller. Welter, who was formerly a banker in Indiana, began his Journey when his family business was sold in 2006. He moved to Scotland, where he began to learn the art of craft distillation from Greg Ramsay (master distiller at Nant Distillery) and Bill Lark (master distiller at Lark Distillery). After returning to the United States, Welter spent time producing and resting whiskey using a prominent organic & kosher distiller's facility in Chicago before opening the doors of his own distillery in Three Oaks with the intention to offer grain-to-glass spirits from day one/drop one. Fondly known as The Whip, Buggy Whip Wheat Whiskey is named after one of the products produced at the historic Featherbone Factory back in the late 1800's.This single-grain whiskey showcases the high quality and terroir of the organic Michigan wheat used to produce it. The 100% wheat provides a soft sweetness and smoothness reminiscent of an Irish whiskey on the palate. Jim Murray gave this incredible whiskey earned 94.5 pts Sensational! in his 2018 Whiskey Bible.

We're proud to introduce a new collection of extra-aged, ultra-premium American Whiskeys to our portfolio. The Heaven Hill Heritage Collection exemplifies the true craftsmanship, patience and consistency that are hallmarks of our almost 90 years of whiskey-making traditions. With new editions released every spring, this collection features Straight American Whiskeys from one of our six traditional mashbills. Ages vary by release but all editions feature our oldest stocks of barrels.

The 2024 release of the Heaven Hill Heritage Collection is an 18-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Bottled without chill filtering, this 120 proof Whiskey showcases our Bourbon mashbill of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley.

Over many years, we have been quietly aging some exquisite Whiskeys for a new series within our Heaven Hill Distillery portfolio. Of our over 2 million barrels resting across seven rickhouse sites in central Kentucky, our master craftspeople have kept watchful eyes on this limited stock.

We’ve pulled from our special stock of barrels twice before. First in 2018 for the premium, extra-aged Heaven Hill 27-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon, and again in 2020 for a special 85th Anniversary bottling. The success of these two releases inspired us to create the Heaven Hill Heritage Collection. With this exclusive collection, we are now able to share our oldest Whiskeys with you each year.

GEORGE T. STAGG KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY

George T. Stagg built the most dominant American distillery of the 19th century, during a time known as the Gilded Age of Bourbon. Uncut and unfiltered, this robust bourbon whiskey ages for nearly a decade and boasts the bold character that is reminiscent of the man himself.

TASTING NOTES

Lush toffee sweetness and dark chocolate with hints of vanilla, fudge, nougat and molasses. Underlying notes of dates, tobacco, dark berries, spearmint and a hint of coffee round out the palate.

Federal regulations in the United States require that bourbon be made from a mash bill of at least 51% corn before being aged in new oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof or higher. Bourbon that meets these requirements and that has been aged for a minimum of at least two years may be called straight bourbon. Duke Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a straight bourbon whiskey that is made by marrying together casks of bourbon that have aged for between five and ten years. The bourbon is crafted in homage to John Wayne, whose nickname was "Duke." Created by Ethan Wayne (Duke's son), the bourbon's flavor profile was made to reflect Wayne's personal whiskey preferences, which were preserved for over five decades and were only recently discovered. The bourbon has a distinctively fruity aroma, with notes of nutmeg, maple syrup, caramel, toffee, roasted corn and mellow char on the palate. The finish is bold and spicy, with a hint of cloves, rye and ginger. "My father thrived on new projects and adventures and he always loved a great glass of whiskey at the end of the day," says Ethan Wayne. "Our goal with the Duke was to make a Bourbon that embodies the spirit, strength and richness my father personified while realizing his unfulfilled dream of distilling fine spirits." 

Once a year, Long Island Spirits hand selects 5 our finest aged Bourbon Barrels and bottles fewer than a couple of hundred cases per batch. This high-rye straight bourbon whisky is aged between 4 and 7 years prior to receiving additional maturation in French Oak casks from local wineries that have been rinsed with high proof brandy. When the perfect flavor and balance are achieved, Happy Warrior is bottled straight from cask at 114 proof. Extremely limited releases are selected from the finest casks in the barrel warehouse.

Long Island Spirits, makers of Rough Rider, was established in 2007 as the first distillery on Long Island since the 1800's and became the 100th Distillery in the United States of America; today there are over 1,600 distilleries throughout the USA. Surrounded by centuries old of potato, corn and rye farms, the distillery is located on the bucolic North Fork of Long Island, in the heart of the acclaimed wine region. The North Fork boasts over 60 wineries and dozens of pre-revolutionary family-owned farms that have been blessed with a microclimate that is very similar to the Bordeaux region in France. Housed in twin-cupola barn that has been repurposed into a state of the art Craft Distillery. Long Island Spirits is proud of its sustainable distillery practices and the innovative fermenting, distilling and blending techniques it has pioneered and the fact that all our spirits are non-chill filtered.

Although Bourbon may be produced anywhere in the United States, it is most commonly associated with Bourbon County, Kentucky, where it has been produced since the late 18th century. Made from a mash bill containing at least 51% corn, the Bourbon Whiskey distillate must be aged in new, charred white oak barrels. Bourbon Whiskeys are bottled at eighty proof (40% abv) or higher and cannot contain any added color or flavor. A versatile spirit that can be sipped neat, with water or on the rocks, it also performs nicely added to cocktails like the Old Fashioned.

Barrell Bourbon Batch 032 began with a balance of two sets of barrels: a selection of 5 and 6-year-old barrels with a creamy and tropical profile and a selection of 6, 7 and 10-year-old barrels vatted for their complex, old, woody character. These two sets of barrels were slowly blended over three months. A small group of spice driven 7-year-old barrels with notes of cinnamon toast, coffee bean and chocolate were then carefully added to complete the blend. The result is a decadent and rich bourbon with layers of spice and nuttiness

The Buffalo Trace and Traveller Whiskey Bundle combines two distinct spirits for whiskey lovers. Buffalo Trace offers rich, complex flavors of vanilla, caramel, and spice, perfect for sipping or cocktails. Traveller Whiskey is smooth and versatile, with notes of honey, vanilla, and apple, great neat or mixed. This bundle provides variety and value, making it an ideal gift for any whiskey enthusiast.

Packing: 

A masterful union of three well-bred ryed bourbons. All with exceptional pedigree. We open with a bold 14-year old that evokes rich butterscotch and hints of chocolate. Next, and 11 year old excites the palate with a sweet and spicy nose of vanilla and cinnamon. And lastly, and 8 year old finished in Calvados casks, delivering notes of juicy pears and ripe apple, reminiscent of the oak barrels previous like.
