Swirling aromas and torrents of deep, peaty, peppery taste lurk beneath the surface of this beautifully balanced dram. Like the whirlpool itself, Corryvreckan is not for the faint-hearted! Awarded The World’s Best Single Malt in 2010 by the World Whiskies Awards.

Non chill-filtered at 57.1% ABV

Color: Rich Amber. 

Aroma: Heady, intense and powerful. Swirl the glass and dip your nose into the torrents of tarry ropes, creosote and linseed oil rising from deep within the vortex. A collision of waxy dark chocolate, warm blackcurrants and muscovado sugar pulls you under its spell with a burst of plump cherries and earthy pine needles leaping from its depths. From salty seasoning comes a briny character with tangy crisp seaweed and smoky bacon swirling on the surface with hints of sweet vanilla, spicy cloves and blueberries. Surrender to its dangerous depths with the heady force of menthol, treacle and chilli sauce.

Taste: Plunge into the whirlpool and torrents of taste well up on the palate; deep, peppery and chewy, bombarding the tongue. The first plunge brings forth chewy peppered steak soaked in pepper sauce with the tang of crispy seaweed. As you descend deeper, encounter a mouthful of black tarry espresso coffee that coats the palate with rich melted dark fruits (blackcurrants, blueberries and cherries) and bitter almonds. As the taste soaks in deeper, star anise and hickory dry out the palate before a surprise of chalky effervescent violets fizz to the surface.

Finish: Long, deep and remaining powerful into the finish with black tarry coffee, chocolate coated cherries and hot pepper sauce, the lingering memories of your mysterious and daring journey into Corryvreckan.

Pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’, it’s a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deep, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks. Ardbeg Uigeadail was voted by the 120,000+ strong Ardbeg Committee as their favourite Ardbeg.

Non chill-filtered at 54.2% ABV.

Colour: Deepest gold.

Aroma: Rich and weighty with heady and smoky aromatics, this expression of Ardbeg is both intensely flavoured and perfectly integrated. At full strength, the initial aroma is a beguiling mix of warm Christmas cake, walnut oil and parma violets fused with fresh ocean spice, cedar and pine needles falling from the Christmas tree. A smouldering smoky coal fire and the deep scent of well-oiled leather brings warmth to the scene. The sweetness of treacle toffees and chocolate-coated raisins bring indulgence through the smoke. With water, the deep smokiness increases in intensity, reminiscent of a Christmas pudding on fire. Tarry smoke and diesel engine oil enter the room bringing smells of an age gone by. Rich flowering currants and warm baked banana and walnut bread are served with simmering mocha espresso.

Taste: Full-flavoured and rich with a deep mouth-coating texture, the taste is an intriguing balance between sweet, spicy and deep smoky flavours. The flavour is initially sweet as Christmas cake begins to soak into the tongue. A burst of winter spices sets off a smoky-spicy explosion countered by a sumptuous mid-palate of honey glazed smoked food and chewy treacle. Waves of deep smoky tones and rich aromas build up on the palate like a fine Montecristo cigar.

Finish: Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisiny, deep mocha tones and rich aromatic smoke into the perfectly integrated finish.

From the first established Champagne House, made exclusively from 100% Premier Cru Chardonnay grapes, Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is smooth and rounded on the palate. A well balanced, rich, suave and fresh wine. It is the purest expression of freshness and elegance with notes of citrus, stone fruits and jasmine. It is a beautiful, luminous pale gold color, enhanced by the elegance of the clear bottle.
 
The Second Skin Case
The second skin packaging was developed with manufacturing partners, Pusterla 1880 and James Cropper. The manufacturer James Cropper was established in 1845, on the shores of the Lake District National Park between Scotland and England, where it developed a unique savoir-faire. The family business is specialized in paper, respectfully leading innovations amidst a landscape classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The water indispensable to the creation of the second skin case is drawn from the site, 91% of which is clean enough to be released back into the river after manufacture. The result is obtained without the use of plastic. 

Maison Ruinart puts its leadership role in service of sustainable development. This approach results from multiple technological challenges, focusing the efforts on a unique material—namely cellulose fibers, or pulped paper.

Where a big gift box made sense in the past, an entirely recyclable cloak composed of 99% natural wood fibers is a more suitable fit today. The sustainable innovation of the second skin case extolls a return to nature and to the natural: it aims to reduce waste and recycle materials without denaturing experience or taste. 

Light, aesthetic and functional, the second skin case suggests a new set of gesture: it is inspired by the manner in which maîtres d’s wrap a white serviette around bottles of champagne. Suitable for storage for several months in a fridge, the case can withstand the humidity of a cellar, and up to three hours in an ice bucket. So rather than being disposed of immediately, the case may be retained until serving or longer to maintain the integrity of the wine.

THE CHALK WRAP
In 2020, Ruinart revolutionised its packaging with the new "Second Skin" case, which replaced the unitary boxes. This sustainable innovation required two years of research and development. Dom Ruinart’s chalk wrap offers a new interpretation of this innovation. Velvety soft to the touch like chalk, with its gentle reliefs and crevices crisscross, as if carved directly into chalky rock. A hand-applied gold marking enhances its exceptional character. The discreetly engraved 1729 on the fastening button indicates the heritage of Maison Ruinart, the world’s first champagne House.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Visually, the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs has a brilliant robe with a beautiful pale yellow color and slight hints of almond green and jade green reflections.

THE NOSE: The first nose reveals intense aromas of fresh fruit: ripe lemon, juicy pear, or freshly picked peach. The secondary aromas are more floral with hints of white flowers, accompanied by a spicy touch combining ginger and pink peppercorns.

PALATE: Balancing tension with roundness, the enveloping structure is highlighted by fresh aromas of ripe citrus and tropical fruit. With a long and delicate finale.

AWARDS: Wine Spectator score of 92.
