The Open Special Edition of 2021 has been created in partnership with Colin Montgomerie, Scottish Professional Golfer and Loch Lomond Whiskies ambassador.

For this special edition, a combination of spirits from both our unique straight neck and more traditional pot stills have been selected, delivering an approachable single malt of exception quality. As with all Loch Lomond Single Malts, the underlying fruit character shines with a gentle hint of smoke on the finish.

The spirit has been matured in three types of American oak casks, managed by our onsite cooperage. Michael Henry, our Master Blender then marries the casks together before a partial finish in Virgin American oak.

Non-chill filtered just as nature intended, and bottled at 46% ABV delivers a rich mouthfeel and a deep and complex flavour.

Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Cotswolds countryside, the Cotswolds Distillery was born from a dream to produce delicious spirits in one of the most beautiful regions in the world.

From hedgefunds to HEDGEROWS
It all started back in 2014, when our founder Dan, a native New Yorker and whisky connoisseur, had moved to the Cotswolds after working in finance in London for many years. Seeking to leave behind that world and spend more time in the picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds with his family, it eventually dawned on him that he could combine his love of whisky with his desire to start a new business. A dedicated whisky fan, Dan saw the fields of golden barley around his house in the Cotswolds and had a brainwave ‘I suddenly thought, there’s barley all over the Cotswolds and nobody’s distilling it, let’s be the first!’ Having found a derelict site near his house, he set about building a distillery and a team to run it, and the doors of the Cotswolds Distillery opened in July 2014.

Launching our WHISKY
After three years of eager anticipation, in October 2017 we released our Cotswolds Signature Single Malt Whisky, the first whisky ever to be distilled in the Cotswolds and the one which remains at the heart of our DNA. In the years since its launch, we have expanded our range of single malt whiskies to include our Cask Collection comprising four unique cask expressions, a yearly limited edition Hearts & Crafts series drawing inspiration from the Arts & Crafts movement, and hand-picked single cask releases.

Aged for full term maturation in ex-peated quarter casks, our Peated Cask Single Malt Whisky is part of our Cask Expressions Collection. A delightful and moreish cask strength single malt with subtle hints of peat smoke on the palate which complement the vanilla notes from the oak and the fruitiness of our single malt spirit. Think 'smoky vanilla ice cream', as our distillers like to describe it!

Malt: 100% locally grown, traditionally floor malted barley from the Cotswolds.

Yeast: Two complementary varieties - Anchor and Fermentis - to ensure good yields and excellent fruity flavors.

Water: Village water supply - filtered, softened and demineralized before use.

Wood: Ex-peated quarter casks from Islay, Scotland.

NOSE: Vanilla with light charring and a touch of dried fruits and spice.

PALATE: Creamy peat smoke layered with light fruits and tannin-rich wood.

FINISH: Lasting finish of smoking embers, floral honey and woody sugars.

Our Sherry Cask Single Malt Whisky is a marriage of carefully selected and blended sherry casks and features in our Cask Expressions Collection. Each yearly batch is unique, drawn from the finest American and Spanish oak hogsheads and butts, some of which have been seasoned with dry Oloroso sherry and others with sweet Pedro Ximénez. All have been sherry-aged through their full maturation for a deeper and more flavourful whisky. Full of dried fruits, chocolate and a touch of spice.

Matured in American Bourbon barrels and meticulously finished in Indian Cabernet Sauvignon casks for the first time in History resulting in a unique expression with an impeccable balance.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Typical tropical fruity note of Rampur with added notes of apricot, blackberry & plum followed with a faint hint of tobacco and spices.

PALATE: Velvety, manuka honey sweetness highlighted by spicy oak, vanilla and balanced with dryness from Indian red wine.

FINISH: The Indian trail lingers with a medium finish. Tantalizingly long, lingering and generous.

About the Brand

DISTILLED IN CANADA AND AGED IN BARRELS FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS. OFTEN, BUT NOT ALWAYS, CANADIAN WHISKIES ARE BLENDS OF CORN, BARLEY AND RYE WHICH ARE DISTILLED AND MATURED SEPARATELY.

Lohin McKinnon Single Malt matured in premium oak barrels, this smooth and refined small batch Whisky is made from the finest Canadian Malted Barley and Pure B.C. water. The aroma is rich with darker fruity notes like cherry or grape, subtle honey, vanilla, and pleasantly woody. The golden liquid sits on the palate with a touch of green apple skins, buttery notes, woody and soft textured mouthfeel and the finish is medium length, fruity, and slightly drying at the end. Best enjoyed with a splash of cold filtered water to release the full flavor of this hand crafted gem.

TASTING NOTES

For the nose Vanilla, toffee and honey combined with a spiced fragrant maltiness. Floral fresh linens transition the nose to a palate that’s governed by barley cereals, citrus fruit and gentle oak. The light buttery texture bursts with mild spice with a welcome tartness and tang in the finish.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: medium dark chocolate, hint of honey, agave nectar, fruits covered in dark and white chocolate, with some almonds, citrus

Palate: Green apple, honey, milk chocolate, dried fruits, figs dipped in medium dark chocolate, green paprika, a touch of oak spice, agave/Mezcal green notes, a touch of cocoa, toasted almonds, light roast coffee, earthiness almost coming across as peat, malt sweetness

Finish: Medium dark chocolate, coffee liqueur, candied lime peel, oak spice and barrel tannins, green apple skins, malt sugars

Colkegan Cask Strength Single Malt is a 118 proof version of Santa Fe Spirits’ traditional mesquite smoked single malt whiskey which exhibits more barrel notes of coffee, chocolate, caramel and baking spices. Bottling whiskey at cask strength is about enhanced flavors and aromas, about stripping the whiskey down to its bones and preserving more of the original flavors of the cask and not diluting any of its essence. Colkegan Cask Strength Single Malt received a score of 90 in the Fall 2018 Whisky Advocate, who called it “a truly compelling American single malt," and a score of 90 again in the Spring 2022 Whisky Advocate.

Floral and fruity are its features. The flavor is dominated by whisky matured in ex-bourbon cask. Few drops of ex-sherry cask whisky give the complex body and finishing.
Non-chill filtered whisky is bottled at 46%abv to keep the best aroma and palate. No coloring, No caramel adding.
First comes with pure and refreshing white flower, gradually appearing attractive aroma of cane, vanilla, cream and honey. With the warmer climate of Taiwan that brings out the character of malty grain, cedar and angelica sinensis, creates a more subtle but balanced aroma.

SMOOTH AND RICH WITH BOLD FLAVOURS

Adnams Single Malt Whisky is made from a mash bill of 100% East Anglian malted barley using our dedicated copper whisky still. We mature the majority of this spirit in new French Oak, but we do add spirit that’s spent time in bourbon barrels, for some extra complexity. This smooth, rich whisky has bold flavours of runny honey, vanilla and apricots. There’s a moreish, caramel finish with lush, lingering fruit.

TASTING NOTES

On the nose, you will find apricot, cherry fruit, berry notes, red rope liquorice, vanilla and runny honey. The palate offers flavours of blueberries, candied fruit, cookie dough, chocolate and pepper. combine with lush spices and a delicate mineral edge to tantalise the nose. It has a rich mouthfeel and a finish of spicy caramel and red fruit.

Vitalis is a limited edition whisky that commemorates Starward's 15th anniversary. A true encapsulation of our life in a bottle, Vitalis comprises of six, hand-selected whisky parcels that all hold a special piece in Starward's story. With notes of chocolate-coated pineapples, coffee beans and tropical fruits, you'll find Vitalis nestles perfectly next to your favourite home cooked meal or sipped neat on its own. However you prefer to celebrate, we're excited for you to raise a glass with us.

Vitalis represents Starward’s life and how we are looking to new horizons. Named after our Founder, David Vitale, Vitalis is a signpost of David's gumption to "bet the farm" in hopes of creating a modern and accessible whisky. This dedication led to the food-friendly and approachable whisky that Starward is known for today, which Vitalis celebrates with its unique liquid story.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Auburn

NOSE: Chewy toffee, raisins, chocolate coated pineapples and cedar.

PALATE: Big & viscous, rich dried fruits, red currant, and lightly roasted coffee beans.

FINISH: Long & oily finish with a delicate balance of fruit and oak.

Ex-red wine casks that were sourced from Israel’s finest wineries were picked for this part of the Elements series. The Mediterranean’s climate, variety of soil types, hot sunny days, and cool nights bring a spicy and unique flavor to Israeli wine – and in turn, our casks. The wine barrels used in the Elements Red Wine are a celebration of local terroir, curating a floral single malt with notes of dark chocolate.

TASTING NOTES

AROMA: Red dried fruits, ginger, oak, and a delicate coconut bouquet led to a gentle mineral perfume.

PALATE: Light bodied. Wine flavors coat the mouth, accompanied by subtle oak and vanilla notes, followed by gentle floral blossoms.

FINISH: Medium. The dried fruits and wine linger, finishing with a touch of dark raisins.

World’s Best Single Malt Whisky.
To create this whisky, we traveled all the way to Spain, and had Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry made especially for us. The casks, once filled with quality sherry and seasoned for one year in Spain, were brought to the distillery to mature our New-Make spirit for a wonderful complex whisky. The M&H Elements Sherry is the first and only kosher single malt whisky in the world, aged in Sherry casks. This single malt reveals robust flavors of red fruit, dark chocolate, and oaky notes.

TASTING NOTES

AROMA: Dominant rich red fruit notes, covered by gentle oak, caramel scent and lemon freshness.

PALATE: Medium bodied. Light fruity sherry sweetness, rich fruits and dark chocolate, followed by gentle oaky notes.

FINISH: Long. The dark chocolate notes linger in the palate for a while, followed by tobacco and oak notes.

The first expression launched in the name of King Car conglomerate, this single malt's complexity represents the company's diversity and multi-faceted business. Diverse with complex flavours, it has delicate aromas and multiple layers of background fruitiness. Sweet rich vanilla, banana, and coconut with a slight pleasant bitterness balancing the sweetness.

TASTING NOTES

Colour: Vivid amber

Flavour: Excellently clean and freshly fruity single malt. A touch of papaya, banana and green apple, just to name a few. Pleasantly floral, delicate and complex with depths and multilayers of aromas, fragrances and nuances waiting to be discovered by each individual and connoisseur!

Palate: Sweet, rich, vanilla, banana but also coconut, a slight pleasant bitterness balancing the sweetness. A mouthfilling dram, more complex and sophisticated than you will ever imagine. A grand masterpiece to represent and bear the name of the Group - King Car.

Tasting: Pair rich dishes, such as in Taiwanese, Thai and Japanese cuisine, with King Car Conductor.

The Cardrona Single Malt Whisky “Just Hatched” is a special natural cask strength bottling marking the momentous occasion of reaching three years old. A marriage of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, this “Just Hatched” Whisky reveals Cardrona’s underlying character of borage flower honey, vanilla, spice, with weighted spirit on the tongue – an indication of the adult whisky to come.

For this expression of Colkegan Single Malt Whiskey, Santa Fe Spirits takes Colkegan from select aged barrels and transfers it to freshly emptied Apple Brandy barrels, where it continues to age for a minimum of one year. This mellows and sweetens the Colkegan, resulting in a whiskey Whisky Advocate described as having “soft and juicy aromas of ginger juice, apple tart, strawberry shortcake, and light, sweet smoke” with “a good deal of apple, poached pear, marmalade and light smoke” on the palate, and which they awarded 89 points.

Santa Fe Spirits bottles all of its Colkegan Apple Brandy Cask Finished from small batches, so each batch will have its own unique flavor. With the Apple Brandy Cask Finished we like to maintain the differences.

Our History

Golden Moon Distillery was founded by Stephen Gould and Dr. Karen Knight in early 2008, specifically to produce premium artisan whiskies, brandies, liquors, and liqueurs using the best available ingredients and made with the same type of artisan production processes utilized by distillers making premium products in the mid-to-late 1800s.

​The heart of Golden Moon Distillery is Mr. Gould’s world-class research library containing hundreds of rare books on distillation and related products and processes, some dating back to the 1500s. Most of the collection dates from the late 1700s to the early 1900s, though there are a few titles that are much older, or newer.

​Maison De La Vie currently has four antique stills at our pilot plant in Golden. Our stills date from the early to mid-1900’s.

​Golden Moon Colorado Single Malt Whiskey is distilled from 100% malted barley, grown in Colorado and the surrounding states. Our Whiskey is malted in Colorado, aged for a minimum of one year in new oak casks, and then finished in used oak casks. Golden Moon Colorado Single Malt Whiskey is a uniquely Colorado Whiskey.

Whisky for the modern, curious drinker

Our distillery is nestled in the heart of Melbourne, Australia. Not the outback. Or a sunshine-soaked beach. Melbourne is a bustling city that celebrates unique cuisines and cultures. Here, we ditch the airs and graces and focus on flavor instead.

That's why we use red wine barrels to mature our whisky. We source all our whisky ingredients from just a day's drive away. Then, in the wildly varied Melbourne weather, our whisky draws out its signature fruity, delicious flavor in just three short years. We call this elemental maturation and it's why we couldn't make our whisky anywhere else.

Our Melburnian founder, David Vitale, grew up in a big Italian family. He was born and raised around a food-obsessed, flavor-forward dinner table. And he knows our whisky feels right at home at those moments spent enjoying a meal with others.

Raise a few eyebrows and bring a bottle to a BBQ. Pour it with tonic and watch jaws go to the floor. It's an eye-opening business, this new world of whisky drinking.

Pokeno Discovery celebrates our unique place in the world. First we carefully select and blend parcels of stock which have been fully matured in first fill bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez Casks. We then lay these back down in cask to allow them to marry perfectly together. It is a rich and complex whisky, with beautiful notes of dark chocolate, black forest gateau, ripe cherries and sweet citrus, giving way to a rich, smooth and incredibly long finish.
