SCHLEPZIG: WHERE WHISKEY DREAMS TOOK FLIGHT

Road trips often hold the promise of adventure, and in the waning months of 2015, our journey led us to a most unexpected destination - the quaint main street of Schlepzig, situated approximately 60 kilometers south of Berlin. Our initial aim was simple: to acquire a solitary barrel of whisky from Brandenburg's most ancient distillery.

As we found ourselves standing in the charming courtyard of this distillery, listening intently to the owner's words, the contours of our lives were about to change forever. His announcement that he sought a successor ignited a spark within each of us. This, we realized, was the adventure we had been yearning for all along. And so, in 2017, following a multitude of structural transformations, the installation of mash tuns, fermenters, and even our very own mill, we set ablaze Germany's inaugural rye whisky still, and thus, the STORK HOUSE Rye Whiskey was born.

We selected barrel of the sweet, delicate 51% rye/ 45% corn/ 4% barley traditional straight rye and blended it with barrels of the big and bold 51% rye/ 49% malted barley straight rye. The end result is an upfront flavor profile that is beautifully sweet and rich with a luxurious mouthfeel. The finish has just enough cinnamon and rye spice to get your tongue tingling while the flavors from the malted barley, such as smoke and malt are still present, but softer and more subtle.

Distilled from a mash bill of 51% Rye and 49% Malted Barley. Big, bold, and unapologetically intense! The Malted Barley really shines through upfront, starting the flavor journey off sweet and creamy with flavor notes of caramel, cereal and what can only be describes as..well..malt. The Rye kicks off the finish with tons of cinnamon spice, big black pepper, combined with smoky flavor notes courtesy of the Malted Barley. Being cask strength only adds to the beautiful intensity of the finish.

For Sentinel, we began with a sweet, bold blend of three-year-old and two-year-old 95% rye-5% malt straight rye whiskies distilled and aged in Indiana. We finished this rye in freshly-harvested mesquited Whiskey Del Bac casks, then filtered it across a bed of Mesquite charcoal from our mesquited malting process, inspired by traditional American whiskey production methods. Add a hot, Sonoran summer.

The result: A striking straight rye whiskey with the bold flavors of a traditional 95% rye, smoothed by the soft roundness of a hint of mesquite. Dubbed Sentinel, meaning “one who watches over or is the keeper of”, this rye is befitting of America's oldest whiskey style while imbuing the essence of the desert.

At Amador Whiskey Company, we partner with the finest distillers to create small batch, luxury whiskies. Amador Double Barrel is a rye whiskey aged in new charred American oak barrels for 3 years, which creates flavors of baking spices, blackberry, and chocolate. It is then finished in former French/American barrels for 9–12 months, which provides additional vanilla notes and a velvety mouthfeel. The “Double Barrel” aging technique creates characteristics from the individual barrels that are then blended together to make an exceptional tasting Whiskey, far greater than the sum of its parts.

Northern Rye is a style of whiskey created by Mammoth Distilling that combines North American traditions with old-world techniques to create a spirit showcasing character from both grain and oak. The result is a new expression of whiskey. One that explores the nearly endless possibilities of complex rye grain character while balancing the structure, flavor and depth that comes from oak. The inspiration for Northern Rye No. 02 came from the local wineries of Northern Michigan, whose ethos and production techniques involve blending old world viniferous varietals with new American hybrids and aging them in French and American oak barrels to create wines worthy of their own designation. This whiskey is the next chapter of our story, where Northern Rye meets Northern Michigan wine for a perfect marriage of terroir and technique.

Northern Rye No. 02 contains a blend of 11% straight Michigan Wheeler rye aged in first-use, char level 3 Missouri white oak barrels, 21% 18-year Alberta rye finished in American Oak Port barrels from 45 North Vineyard & Winery, 20% 18-year Alberta rye finished in Bonobo Winery’s Estate Pinot Noir French oak barrels, and 48% 15,16, and 18-year Alberta rye in second- and third-fill American casks.

Dating back to George Washington and the birth of a nation is a proud history of crafting whiskey. Some of the first whiskey distilled in America was Straight Rye. Keeping with the traditions of America’s founding fathers, Buffalo Trace Distillery offers this raw, clear, un-aged and high-proof distillate right off the still. The taste has a hint of spicy rye. This whiskey is known as White Dog. It was later discovered this spirit was perfect for aging and gave way to what we today know as Straight Rye Whiskey.
