Following the end of the American Revolutionary War, Johannes Reginald Beam emigrated from Germany to the United States and eventually settled in Kentucky County. At the time, Kentucky County was still considered part of Virginia and was overseen by a military governor named John J. Bowman. After settling in Kentucky, Beam began harvesting corn and set forth a family tradition by distilling the excess grains he harvested into whiskey. Since then, seven generations of the Beam family have been involved in whiskey production for the eponymous company (the company is actually named after James Beam, who rescued it following Prohibition). Knob Creek Bourbon was created by Beam's grandson, Booker Noe, who after joining the family business in 1950 was promoted to Master Distiller just ten years later. Booker talked like a true Kentuckian and was known for his contagious personality, and through his launch of the Small Batch Bourbon Collection the collection includes Knob Creek as well as Basil Hayden's, Booker's and Baker's bourbons he is often credited as the father of the small batch bourbon movement. Knob Creek Bourbon takes its name from the small water source, Knob Creek, that ran through President Abraham Lincoln's childhood farm. Booker's vision for Knob Creek Bourbon was that of an honest, quality bourbon that could meet the standards strength, flavor, care, and patience of bourbon made before prohibition distressed the industry just decades earlier. Like Abraham Lincoln himself, Booker designed Knob Creek Bourbon, to be honest, unwavering and full of character. Knob Creek offers a solid core lineup of whiskeys and bourbons, all of which have made the brand one of the most popular labels on the market today. Steve Beam launched Limestone Branch Distillers, Inc. in October 2010, and coming from a long line of distillers, the distillery is truly a family affair. Located in Lebanon, Kentucky, the location was chosen for its location, just a stone's throw away from the now-long-gone distilleries of the family's past. This setting, in addition to the local grain and limestone water, is crucial to the unique and personal recipes, of limestone distillery products. The mission of Minor Case whiskey is to create a genuine and uncompromised product, using long-standing whiskey-making traditions. Minor Case Whiskey explores what might have been had the talent-fueled M. C. Beam had the opportunity to have his stills unsilenced, and his production reawakened throughout prohibition. Minor Case is a tribute to the man with unwavering passion and the product he sought to create.

During the late 19th century, an overwhelming number of distilleries throughout the United States were still not aging their whiskey. As a result, some retailers would add juices and syrups to sweeten the whiskey, while others would add acid and tobacco to give their whiskey its signature, amber hue. In 1870, George Garvin Brown a young pharmaceuticals salesman from Kentucky saw the need for a consistently high-quality whiskey that would remain unadulterated after distillation. After saving $5,500, Brown and his brother opened the doors to J.T.S. Brown & Bro. Distillery and began distilling bourbon. Unlike other distilleries at the time, Brown aged his bourbon, which was named Old Forester, in oak casks and bottled it in a sealed glass bottle to ensure authenticity and quality. Since its introduction in 1870, Old Forester has been on the market continuously, even during Prohibition, when it continued to be sold for medicinal purposes. It is the only bourbon continuously distilled and marketed by the founding family before, during and after Prohibition. This historic recipe was acquired in 1940 by Owsley Brown I, Old Forester Rye features a mash bill of 65% Rye, 20% Malted Barley, and 15% Corn. This high proportion of barley yields a natural fermentation process, and a unique floral character, balancing the sharp, brisk spice of the rye grain. The Featherbone Factory built by E.K. Warren in the 19th century to manufacture women's corsets sits on the banks of Lake Michigan just across the Indiana border in Three Oaks, Michigan. As the factory changed hands in the twentieth century, it became a production site for everything from buggy whips to pickles. Today, it's home to Journeyman Distillery and Bill Welter, Journeyman's master distiller. Welter, who was formerly a banker in Indiana, began his Journey when his family business was sold in 2006. He moved to Scotland, where he began to learn the art of craft distillation from Greg Ramsay (master distiller at Nant Distillery) and Bill Lark (master distiller at Lark Distillery). After returning to the United States, Welter spent time producing and resting whiskey using a prominent organic & kosher distiller's facility in Chicago before opening the doors of his own distillery in Three Oaks with the intention to offer grain-to-glass spirits from day one/drop one. Not a King Rye is a tribute to George Washington, who was not only the first US president, but also one of America's first distillers. After his victory over the British, he was celebrated by the masses as the first King of America. Washington famously stated that he was Not a King. In honor of the first president, this limited release whiskey is made available on Presidents Day each year. This incredible spirit earned 5-stars / Highest Recommendation from F. Paul Pacult's Spirit Journal, and received a Gold medal at the 2018 Berlin International Spirits Competition.

The Parker's Heritage collection of small-batch bourbons are a series of rare, limited-edition bourbons crafted in tribute to Master Distiller Parker Beam and his five decades of experience distilling whiskey. Each year, Parker Beam and Heaven Hill select a special expression of whiskey to release under the Parker's Heritage Collection label. The barrels hand-selected for this series include bourbon, rye and wheat whiskeys, among others, and are some of the highest quality and most diverse American whiskeys to be produced. This 13th edition eight year old is the first-ever Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey to be released as a park of the Parker's Heritage Collection, consisting of 75 specialty barrels charred for a full minute and a half, as opposed to a more traditional 40 seconds. The Level 5 char barrels have been rested for eight years and nine months, on the seventh floor of Rickhouse Y. The heavier char allows the whiskey to penetrate further into the barrel, delivering deep notes of spice and wood, resulting in enhanced notes of spice and a distinctive character imparted by their traditional Rye Whiskey mashbill. Parker's Heritage Collection 13th Edition 8-Year-Old Rye is bottled without chill-filtration at 105 proof.

Limited to a blend of only 65 barrels, this Rye Humor Cask Strength release is the first edition of barrel proof straight rye whiskey from Pinhook. Blended by Sean Josephs at Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort, KY the average age of the barrels is around 4 years old. You can expect deep and dense aromas of dark chocolate, candied black licorice, and vanilla extract, followed by robust flavors of raisins, tobacco, cinnamon stick, and sarsaparilla.

Founded by Daniel Barnes, Treaty Oak whiskeys are a fusion of scientific method and innovation.Their modern approach to traditional distilling and aging processes coupled with meticulously selected local ingredients yield a high-quality spirit using custom-made stills. Treaty Oak whiskeys are made using pure Hill Country limestone spring water.They source organic, heirloom corn varietals from Panhandle farmers and mill them at James Brown's bespoke Barton Springs Mill. Treaty Oak Distillery is named after the famous 500-year old tree in Austin, under which Stephen F. Austin signed agreements defining the borders of Texas.Their ginsare called Waterloo, after the original name of Austin. They moved to Dripping Springs, a place with a rich history of gatherings and shared perspectives. Central Texas has a very different climate than Kentucky and other areas producing whiskey. The wide swings of temperature and humidity allow for a maturation that is specific to the weather of the hill country.Their non climate controlled rickhouse was designed to showcase the dynamic climate. Red-Handed Rye is sourced from the Schenely Distillery and aged 10 years at 100 proof. This rare gem boasts of young green pepper with a hint of pear and green apple, balanced by a mild caramel and rich spice finish. The result is a unique and complex drinking experience. 

Kentucky Owl was founded by Charles Mortimer Dedman, a local pharmacist, in 1879. After marrying his wife, Dedman was given a large parcel of land on the banks of the Kentucky River, as a wedding gift from his adopted father who was a local town judge. C.M. Dedman Distillery was established here on the banks of the Kentucky River, producing "The Wise Man's Bourbon" under Distilled Spirits Plant Designation "No. 16", one of Kentucky's original distilleries and part of a booming industry. Kentucky Owl achieved much success and production continued until Prohibition halted distillation. The family-run facility was no match for the "forces of teetotalism, temperance and eventually, the Feds." In 1916, Prohibition left several local distilleries with ample reserves of bourbon. As for Kentucky Owl, approximately 250,000 gallons of bourbon were left over in various stages of aging. Today these reserves would be worth about $40 million in inventory. After Federal agents descended on the Dedman's distillery, the bourbon was seized and shipped up the river by barge to the state capital in Frankfort for "safekeeping" in a warehouse. Kentucky Owl 10-Year Old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey Batch #3 features citrus, orange juice, grapefruit, oak, anise, and barbeque spice on the nose. The combination of barrel sweetness, caramel candy, creamy vanilla, toffee, and hazelnut coat the palate before moving into a finish of licorice, absinthe, nutmeg, and a mild flash of cayenne pepper. The 10-year old stocks in this Rye #3 deliver a richer, thicker, syrupy mouthfeel. 

A great whiskey with a noble heart, Noble Oak Rye is first rested in new charred American oak barrels for a minimum of one year. Then it is finished using port wine cask staves to imbue an additional layer of flavor and complexity. The result is a unique rye, elegantly balanced and bold in flavor with notes of fig, toffee and spice. "Our commitment to oak transcends our whiskey, because every bottle plants a tree in partnership with One Tree Planted in an effort to preserve the world's most majestic forests", say the folks at Noble Oak. The time-honored methods used for its distillation create unrivaled whiskey with body, deep color, and richness of flavor that earned this rye 97 points from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2020. You can expect notes of "freshly milled rye, dark crusty bread, and spicy cinnamon are pungent on the nose. The European oak ex-port wine cask staves provide a rounded richness with hints of dark maple to balance out the staunch spicy graininess. The finish is balanced and enjoyable (Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2020). 

Redemption harkens back to the 17th and 18th century, a time when rye was the dominant spirit in America. After the Prohibition forced countless distilleries to close their doors, bootleggers began distilling gin instead of rye, and for good reason gin didn't require aging under the watchful eye of a master distiller and its true flavors could be hidden behind a mask of botanicals. As Americans grew accustomed to gin, rye whiskey became an anachronism. Today all that is changing and rye is having a proper renaissance. Redemption has made it their sole purpose to return rye whiskey back to its rightful place. They produce award-winning whiskeys in small batches, putting a modern twist on decades old traditions. Redemption Whiskeys are meticulously hand-crafted in the river town of Lawrenceburg, Indiana at Whisky Advocate's 2015 Distiller of the Year: the 172-year-old MGP Distillery. While Redemption produces whiskeys perfect to have neat or on the rocks, they can serve equally well as a stunning base for both the traditional and modern cocktail. They have signature bold, spicy rye notes that shine through any cocktail without overpowering the drink. The Redemption Rye Rum Cask Finish is part of their Cask Series and is a straight rye that has been finished in Caribbean rum barrels from Plantation Rum and is bottled at 94 proof. In 1988, near a scenic stream called Lithia Creek in Ashland, Oregon, Jack Joyce and Bob Woodell, fraternity brothers at the University of Oregon, opened the doors of Rogue Brewery. For fifteen years, Rogue Brewery brewed beers such as Dead Guy Ale, Dad's Little Helper and Brutal IPA under the tutelage of John Maier, Rogue Brewery's brewmaster. Then, with the addition of Master Distiller John Couchot in 2003, Rogue Spirits was born. Couchot, who earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Evergreen State College in Washington, was a professional chemist for six years before jumping ship to make spirits. They take pride in all their whiskeys being handcrafted. This starts at the selection of grains, brewing, and distilling, then ends with aging and bottling. All Rogue's spirits are made from ingredients off their own Rogue farms and Oregon Rye Malt Whiskey is no exception. It's a handcrafted whiskey distilled in small batches with an unusual twist the rye and barley are both malted, which takes an edge off the spice notes and makes for a more approachable whiskey. Both are the same kind they use for brewing their beer: Dream Rye and Risk Malts, with the mash fermented using Pacman yeast. It is then aged for three years in new American oak barrels in the marine climate of Newport, Oregon, and bottled at 80 proof.

Crafted from a mash bill of 60% rye, 20% barley, and 20% corn, this flagship rye has been aged for at least 2 years at their Castle & Key Distillery. This special release is the first incarnation of their proprietary mash bill since restoring the Old Taylor Distillery, their very first 100% in-house spirit. You can expect fruity aromas of peaches, spearmint, and cinnamon, followed by a taste of cherries, toffee, and cloves.

Based in Frisco, Texas, Devils River Whiskey was founded by Mike Cameron, co-founder of Rebecca Creek Whiskey, and president of the Texas Distilled Spirits Association. Their 90-proof bourbon is crafted from the pure Devils River spring waters. The illustrious Texas Ranger John Coffee Hays was one of the first explorers to come across it and named this impressive waterway the "Devils River" in 1840. Nowadays the naturally-filtered limestone spring water is considered the purest water in Texas. In college, Cameron would take frequent trips to the feisty Southwest Texas river, the tributary of the Del Rio that would inspire the name of his new whiskey label as well as provide a pure foundation for the whiskey. Devils River whiskey is distilled using a signature method - traditional copper pot stills designed for distilling complex, flavorful, dark spirits. Devils River Rye Whiskey is their Bourbon's spicier brother. Crafted as Devils River's answer to the recent cry for more rye whiskeys, this small-batch affair is also their way of paying tribute to American whiskey. It consists of a mash of 51% rye, 45% corn, and 4% barley, which results in an exquisitely balanced taste profile with prominent spice, as well as notes of vanilla, apples, and pepper. The spice balances perfectly with the sweetness of honey and maple and brings some undertones of wood and pepper.

Caramel and vanilla flavors from the charred white oak barrels come through first with a spicy rye note from the spirit. The rye becomes more assertive in the finish. Clean, dry and spicy with a nice warmth. We crafted this rye to be smoother and more approachable than many rye whiskeys. Carefully pot-distilled, specifically to be aged in our selection of cooperages and sizes, the spirit is balanced between the spicy grain character of rye and the sweet caramel & vanilla flavors of high quality oak barrels.

DISTILLING NOTES

This whiskey started out in new, charred American oak barrels that provide the robust caramel and vanilla notes which balance the spiciness of the rye.  After this initial aging, the whiskey is transferred into freshly emptied American “Port” wine casks from our own winery – Mazza Vineyards.  Because the “Port” casks came from our own winery, they were filled with whiskey within 24 hours of the wine being removed.  This ensures the freshness of the barrels, which provides the maximum flavor and aroma impact.  The longer aging in these “Port” casks gives the whiskey a deeper, more ruby color and rich flavors and aromas of red wine, dark fruit and chocolate.

Maker Notes 

Our process is unique in that we use 94% Danko Rye grown on the shores of Conesus Lake. This big, bold, spicy grain captures the true spirit of the Empire State. Our temperature controlled fermentation and proprietary pot, column, pot, column distillation method all contribute to our unique flavor profile, all before being set to age in our custom charred barrels.
The Empire Rye requirement to use local grains and barrel down at a lower proof, in combination with our harsh NY winters and hot humid summers, all contribute to the unique flavor of this product. Unfiltered to provide you with true and authentic flavor, our Rye is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in a traditional whiskey cocktail.

Our newest addition to the family is making a name for itself by becoming our first rye whiskey with this distinguished of an age statement.

Bottled at 80 proof, the mashbill features a slightly spicy, yet approachable, rye resulting in an elegantly complex taste profile and a golden honey hue. This light, yet full-flavored, rye is sure to please any palate. Serving neat, with a drop of water, or on the rocks opens up all of the flavors that were developed from ten years of aging, such as spice, oak, caramel, and tobacco. This rye can be easily enjoyed without the burn associated with higher-proof whiskeys.
