Tequila Mandala was founded on November 16, 2016 by Jose Joel Garcia Barreto, Arturo Lomeli Ibarra and Humberto Ibarra. The founders had the specific idea of bringing a unique, premium sipping tequila to the U.S. spirit market. Central to the flavor profiles created at El Pandillo is the source of water used and in the case of Terralta, it all comes from a deep well, 150 meters down in the earth. What does this mean for flavor? To answer this question, we will first have to talk about the two other water sources at the distillery for contrast.

First, there is the harvested rain water, and secondly, a fresh spring. These two sources are used in a close to 50/50 ratio for 3 of the 4 other brands made at El Pandillo - Pasote, G4, and ArteNOM. The flavors here are clean and crisp, as one would expect from rain water, backed by floral and herbal notes. Volans, the 4th brand produced at 1579 is a blend of spring and well water, and it’s here where the minerality of the earth encasing the deep well begins to come through. But in Terralta, as it’s only source for water, the soil and earth are king.

Where the other profiles are lofty and light, you’ll find Terralta firmly secured in the ground from which the agave grow. The soils of Los Altos are rich in iron, giving them a red coloring, and softness compared to the rockier soils of the Valley of Tequila.

Limited Release ARTA Extra Añejo is matured in American White Oak for three years, then split between Cognac and Jerez Sherry casks for the final two years. Our master Tequileros Chacho and Angel oversee the final mingling of these two distinct styles. The flavor profiles crafted at El Pandillo are heavily influenced by the source of water used, and in the case of Terralta, the water is drawn from a deep well that lies 150 meters below the surface. While the other brands have a light and lofty character, Terralta has a grounded flavor that reflects the soil in which the agave plants grow. The soil in the Los Altos region is rich in iron, which imparts a red hue to the soil and makes it softer than the rockier soils found in the Valley of Tequila.

About the Brand

Our company’s history begins in 1885, when the descendants of Don Antonio Faustino de Aceves y Casillas built Hacienda La Capilla. Don Antonio Aceves, better known as “Amo Aceves” was the founder of Capilla de Guadalupe, a town that got its name from the town chapel, built in honor of the “Virgin of Guadalupe”. This town rests under the shade of the Cerro Gordo, in the heart of Jalisco Highs, at 7290 feet above sea level, providing excellent conditions for the growing of agave, such as moderate climate and volcanic ground. Don Antonio was a hardworking man and a passionate promoter of quality. His descendants took advantage of the local Agave farming and formally started the company Hacienda la Capilla S.A. de C.V. in the year 1993. Since those days, the growth of agave has been its core business. La Adelita is a partnership bringing a renowned award winning vintner together with a generational family and visionaries in Mexico to create a uniquely pure and traditional tequila that is a 100% estate program.

History

Born in the Highlands of Jalisco, and raised in the Valleys of Tequila. Don Fulano is a product of the Fonseca family whose story begins in the Highlands of Jalisco where their great grandfathers began cultivating agave 140 years ago. Today - respected agave farmers – they also run La Tequileña, one of the highest-rated and most awarded tequila distilleries.

Don Fulano Imperial is the oldest, exceptionally rich, and complex with a great combination of elegance and power. Blended from dark European oak and oloroso sherry casks it’s abundant in fruit notes and spices like clove and cardamom. Deep notes of old leather, tobacco, and a lavish aroma of black cherries frame its singular style. It is velvety and permanent in the mouth. An exotic delight to sip on its own.

Extra Añejo Tequilas are aged at least 3 years in barrels, making the product itself at least 10 years old - accounting for the time agave takes to grow, at least 7 years - by the time it touches your glass.  Some extra añejos lean towards a cognac profile if given a heavier aging, while others that are more gently aged, simply are an extension of an añejo profile, but softer, sweeter, and with more presence of oak.  We suggest that these be sipped neat, or enjoyed with a single ice cube.

THE LOST ART OF TEQUILA MAKING

CAZCANES WATER
Cazcanes sources natural artesian water for our tequila. The water starts off as rain or snow high up on the pristine peaks of the San Pedro de los Landeros mountains. It slowly travels through natural minerals deep within the volcanic mountains before emerging at the Navichi springs.

NATURAL YEAST FERMENTATION
The ‘piñas’ are then cooked, and crushed to extract and concentrate their flavors.  Next comes fermentation using natural, wild yeast, and then distillation in our alembic stills.

CAZCANES AGAVE
Hand-selected Weber Blue Lowland (Tequila Valley) Agave grown in Volcanic Tufa Soil at 4000-6000 ft is harvested during peak sugar levels to deliver a distinct Cazcanes taste.

Etéreo is the embodiment of its namesake, which translates to “out of this world” or “heavenly.”
In 2018, Etéreo Founder, Jimmy Ling, had an out-of-this-world experience while at an exclusive nightclub in London. The evening started with a round of tequila shots and “saluds” shared among new friends from all across the globe. The prolific evening propelled the new friends to spontaneously book flights to Ibiza together, where more one-of-a-kind memories were shared. Ling quickly decided he wanted to bottle this feeling and share it with the masses – and thus, Etéreo was born.
