The Macallan Red Collection reflects our deep respect for time, tradition and craftsmanship. It is a celebration of the rich range of reds present naturally in The Macallan—in every step of the process.

The distinctive red colour weaves its way through our history, starting with the name of our founder Alexander Reid—literally “The Red”, to The Macallan’s ‘Choice Old’ range released over a century ago in 1903, through to Allan Shiach marking vintage bottles of The Macallan with a red ribbon in the 1980s.

The oak presentation box is crafted by hand in the UK, using the same sustainable European oak we use to make our casks. The box has been beautifully upholstered with sustainably sourced, soft scottish leather from our renowned partners, Bridge of Weir Leather.

At The Clydeside, we don’t want our whisky (nor our customers) boxed in by stereotypes or clichés. With our annual Limited Edition release, The Clydeside hopes to shed a new light on Lowland whisky: highlighting its many beauties, while showcasing its manifold virtues and re-examining its presentation.

The first Clydeside Limited Edition release is a cask strength expression bottled at 60.6% vol., bolstering the intensity of the generally softer Lowland style, while exemplifying its finest attributes. Orange marmalade and fruity malt aromas linger on the nose. The sweetness of the malt marries seamlessly with oak influence from the ex-Bourbon casks the whisky was matured in. The spices and vanilla explode on the finish as the higher proof finally announces itself.

TASTING NOTES

This Clydeside Single Malt is produced using clear water from Loch Katrine, 100% Scottish barley and then matured in the finest Oak casks.

Nose: Bursting with sweet aromas of ripe tropical fruit and vanilla pastries.

Palate: Peach and plum, and a surge of tart citrus on the finish.

Matured in the finest American first fill Bourbon barrels.

Packaging is 100% recyclable. Outer tubes have a perforation allowing for easy recycling of both the tube and the tin ends.

Matured exclusively on Islay, primarily in ex-Bourbon casks and a small number of wine casks, The Bruichladdich Eighteen is the epitome of Bruichladdich's signature unpeated house style. Full bodied and beautifully fragrant, notes of honey, butterscotch, and citrus orange open on the nose, with a medley of tropical fruits and toasted mellow oak lingering on the palate.

BARLEY VERIATAL: The Bruichladdich Eighteen is made using a combination of Scottish Mainland, Islay and Organic barley, with each varietal and harvest fully traceable from farm to bottle

MATURATION PROFILE: The single malt has matured exclusively on Islay primarily in ex-bourbon casks. These bourbon casks, together with a smaller number of Sauternes and Port casks, are vatted and married for nine months before bottling to balance Bruichladdich’s signature floral and fruity character.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Apricot.

NOSE: Beautifully fragrant with ripe peach and honeysuckle, hints of violet and lavender come through on the nose – balanced with vanilla and creamed coconut from the toasted American oak. A medley of tropical fruit comes to the fore, with melon, peaches, apricots, and vibrant citrus, while the influence of the oak brings honey, caramel vanilla custard and rich crème brûlée.

PALATE: Luxurious and viscous, honey, butterscotch and fresh fruits coat the palate, followed by cereal notes of sweet, syrup soaked porridge, barley sugar and toasted oak. Vibrant tropical fruit and the subtle presence of toasted oak with a hint of leather follow, with honeycomb adding to the smooth, sweet character.

FINISH: The quintessential character of Bruichladdich single malt comes through on the finish. The 18 Year Old has the classic minerality for which Bruichladdich is renowned, perfectly balanced with oak, stoned fruit and a delicate floral bouquet.

Whisky Six: two parts whisky, four parts soda, over ice with a sprig of fresh mint

This is a wonderfully rich and complex single malt. Opening with rich and spicy aromas of crème brûlée, heather honey and crumbled cinnamon, intensely fruity notes follow – fresh pineapple dressed with a scattering of sun-kissed lemon zest. There’s a hint of freshly baked sponge cake too, warm from the oven, and you’ll find cinnamon again, but toasted shards this time. Citrus and vanilla notes linger in the aromatic waves of peat smoke.

To create our 15 Year Old, Gordon Motion, our Master Whisky Maker, selected predominantly sherry seasoned European oak casks to deliver warm, spicy notes, and sherry seasoned American oak casks to provide a balance of sweet vanilla. Expertly adding just a few refill casks to soften and smooth the flavours, Gordon chose to bottle at 44% ABV to allow the whisky’s vibrant fruitiness and distinctive heathery peat to shine through.

Crafted by the revered Craigellachie distillery in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, the 33 Year Old Small Batch Limited Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky stands as a testament to time-honored craftsmanship. The second release in The Macallan Home Collection is a tribute to our extraordinary Estate, inspired by the natural beauty of The Macallan's birthplace and the River Spey.

The stunning painting on the front of the pack is the work of photo-realist artist Michelle Lucking, and captures the River Spey in its majestic winter beauty. The Spey, which flows gently through our Estate, is an enduring source of inspiration and an essential part of our whisky-making process. We are proud custodians of our 1.5-mile stretch of the river, protecting its waters and the wildlife around it.

Michelle works with her fingers to bring her subjects, most often water, to life. She has used natural pigmented pastels to create a collection of six original pastel paintings of the River Spey, three of which are included in the art folio. The colours she has chosen echo the earthy hues of umber, russet and gold found within our whiskies.

COLOUR: Sunset Orange

AROMA: Curiously perfumed and aromatic, a big top note of fragrant lavender tumbles into vetiver and incense candles. Down below, deeper notes of leather and wax dance alongside a rich almond nuttiness. A splash of water reveals gentle wisps of woodsmoke and damp peat moss. Hints of menthol hurl headlong into rich antique leather.

TASTE: A viscous mouthfeel bursts forth to introduce a sparkling array of salty, sweet, and savoury flavours. Peat smoke, eucalyptus oil, minty chocolate and toffee mingle with smoked pecans, creosote, and tar. Subtle sweet pear crumble and fudge lurk in the background.

FINISH: Finally, a long and lingering finale of salted caramel and cooling menthol brings this showstopping spectacle of flavour to a close.
