Situated in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Breckenridge Distillery makes one of the best bourbons in the world. The distillery, which is only 4,000 square feet itself, is situated 9,600 feet above sea level, making it the highest distillery in the world. There, Jordan Via Breckenridge's master distiller ferments a mash of 56% corn, 38% rye and 6% malted barley in an open-top Scottish fermenter before distilling it twice through a $140,000, 550-gallon, Vendome copper-pot still originally made in Kentucky. With a profound range of expressions ranging from award winning bourbons and Port cask finished whiskeys to Chili flavored vodkas, and over two dozen awards, including 2 Distillery of the Year awards, Breckenridge is without saying a well-established player in the game. This is very impressive considering Bryan Nolt founded Breckenridge in 2007. Breckenridge Reserve Blend is a release from the reserve blend program, created to showcase qualities of their bourbons that even the most discerning connoisseurs can appreciate. The spirit consists of four distinct blends, giving great insight into the beauty of the bourbon while it ages, and the affects of charring that are subsequently expressed. Still soft and luscious, these blends capture a different take on the way bourbon can grow up and present itself at maturity.

Maker Notes

Our Cristalino begins with the meticulous hand-selection of fully matured 100% Blue Weber Agave, sourced from both the Highlands and Lowlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Our expertly distilled tequila is then aged for over 20 months in Tennessee Whiskey Barrels, developing the rich character and complexity that defines our Añejo expression. We then filter the Añejo to remove the color while accentuating the vibrant notes of citrus, agave, and fruit, resulting in a sublimely smooth spirit with a rounded mouthfeel and lasting impression.

THE CLASSIC OLD FASHIONED

This spicy, fruity take on the classic Old Fashioned is made with small batch American whiskey, cane sugar, natural flavors of orange and dark cherry, and our own custom C+S bitters.

With a mash bill of 45% wheat and 51% corn, this is a sweet, soft, and very easy-drinking Bourbon.

Aged a minimum of 3 years in virgin oak casks in order to retain the soft wheat character and to avoid over-dominance from the wood. 

Nose: Butterscotch, caramelized banana, and some oak.

Palate: A delicious toffee richness and creamy butterscotch. Peanut brittle, nugget, and peach flavored hard candy.

Far Niente Winery was established in 1885 by John Benson, a forty-niner of the California gold rush and uncle of the famous American impressionist painter, Winslow Homer. Benson hired architect Hamden McIntyre, creator of the former Christian Brothers winery—now the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone—to design the building. Constructed against a hillside in western Oakville, Far Niente functioned as a gravity flow winery, gently moving the grapes through each stage of production.

In 1979, Gil Nickel purchased the winery and adjacent vineyard and began a three-year restoration of the property, which resulted in placement on the National Register of Historical Places. During restoration, the original name, Far Niente, from an Italian phrase that romantically translated means “without a care,” was found carved in stone on the front of the building where it remains to this day. Today, the winery continues to focus on producing only the two varietal wines.

This wine is their 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 93.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.8% Petit Verdot, 2.3% Cabernet Franc, .5% and .1% Malbec aged 17 months in French oak (65% new, 35% once-used). This wine combines grapes from select vineyards in Rutherford, Calistoga and St. Helena that complement the fruit from their Oakville estate vineyards.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine awarded this a "Cellar Selection" and scored it 95 points saying "This memorable Cabernet Sauvignon has small amounts of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec blended in. Aged 17 months in a majority of new French oak, it unfurls flavors of red fruit, dried herb and clove over a core of youthful tannin and spicy oak. Best from 2028–2038."

LABEL INSPIRATION
The third release of the Booker's® Bourbon 2023 Collection is Booker's Batch 2023-03 "Mighty Fine Batch." This batch is named in honor of the signature phrase my dad, Booker Noe, used to compliment anything he approved of - from his namesake bourbon to his country ham. If you knew Booker, then you knew "mighty fine" was his go-to phrase. He would often get together with other folks in the bourbon industry to taste samples of Booker's Bourbon, and everyone knew he was happy with his selection when he sipped it and said it was "mighty fine," followed by, "that's a damn good batch!". Shortly before Dad passed away in 2004, I selected the barrels for a Booker's Bourbon batch for the very first time. I was a little nervous at first; I had big shoes to fill. After tasting the sample I shared with him, he looked at me and said, "Mighty fine job, son." A lot of people thought it was one of the best batches, but receiving Dad's vote of confidence made it that much more special for me. I'll never forget that moment. Booker was not one to embellish his compliments with many descriptive words, but I have a feeling he would say this batch is mighty fine. I hope you think so too.
