TASTE PROFILE

Double Barrel: The tequila matured in two different American oak barrels. First, it aged for 6 months in an ex-Bourbon barrel, then two additional months in another ex-Bourbon barrel to give it that special final touch. The result is 3000 double-aged bottles filled with liquid gold.

Visual: The spirit appears in a bright straw yellow color with decent golden glints that make it shine. A medium body fills the bottle.

Aromatic: Sweet fruity tones such as peach, yellow apple, and cooked agave are very present. Accompanied by a light chocolate flavor and preserved fruits. The barrels influenced the spirit with great woody and caramel nuances.

Taste: Predominantly cooked agave, as well as barrel aromas with a woody tone and preserved caramel. Soft chocolate, peach, and apple flavors fill the mouth. All in all, very balanced and harmonious!

How to enjoy:
This Double Barrel Reposado is enjoyed best at a temperature between 18°C and 20°C, preferably in a tumbler glass, and by sipping in good company. Allow the spirit to oxygenate for about 15 minutes to develop its best aromas. It also harmonizes well with different meat-based dishes.

American Freedom Distillery was founded by four ex-Green Berets. Currently, they're building the distillery in St. Petersburg, Florida. For now, Horse Soldier Bourbon is distilled in Columbus, Ohio. "Plymouth Sloe Gin is a quintessentially English drink the origins of which have been lost in time. Although sloe berries grow all over Europe and many countries have their own version, it is the English style that is the most familiar. Come October, blackthorn bushes start to produce their fruit. The sloes are handpicked. This can be tricky since the blackthorn has very sharp thorns! Tradition has it that the sloes should be pricked prior to steeping (soaking), not with a fork but a silver pin! However, the established method is to use a thorn from the blackthorn bush. Another, far more practical method is to freeze the berries prior to steeping. They are then steeped in Plymouth Gin until the flavor has reached the desired intensity. Plymouth Sloe Gin is 26% ABV."

The Cream of Kentucky brand was originally introduced in 1888 by I. Trager & Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. Just prior to the end of Prohibition, the brand was acquired by the famed Schenley Company and subsequently re-introduced in 1934. Through the 1930s and 1940s Cream of Kentucky grew to become one of the leading bourbon brands, with renowned artist Norman Rockwell provided much of the award winning artwork for the brand during its heyday. Cream of Kentucky is now owned by J.W. Rutledge, and Jim has recently purchased a limited supply of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey he feels is worthy of the rebirth of Cream of Kentucky Bourbon as a premium whiskey.

A welcome new addition to the Ultimate range. Ardbeg An Oa is singularly rounded, due in no small part to time spent in our newly established bespoke oak Gathering Vat where whiskies from several cask types - including; sweet Pedro Ximenez; spicy virgin charred oak; and intense ex-bourbon casks, amongst others - familiarise themselves with each other. The result is a dram with smoky power, mellowed by a delectable, smooth sweetness. Hallmark Ardbeg peat, dark chocolate and aniseed are wrapped in smooth, silky butterscotch, black pepper and clove, before rising to an intense crescendo of flavour.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Rounded and smoky - like burning Applewood - with creamy toffee, aniseed, treacle and dates. A curious suggestion of juicy fruits, such as peach and banana. With a drop of water, reminders of Ardbeg’s classic fragrance – lime, pine resin, fennel, saddle soap and tar. A gentle waxiness, like fragrant candle wax, and hints of smoked herbs. An Oa gives a final subtle reminder of the sea with briny notes and seaweed but always accompanied with creaminess.

Taste: A smooth, creamy texture leads into a huge syrupy sweetness, flavours of milk chocolate, treacle toffee, aniseed, orange and smoky tea leaves. Gentle, sweet spices (nutmeg & cinnamon), some cigar smoke, and a very unusual flavour of grilled artichokes. Wood is always present in the spirit, gently nutty and reminiscent of a carpenter’s workshop. A long, sweet finish, with floral overtones, mint toffee and some gentle malty biscuit notes.

Finish: Lingering, seductive, gentle yet intense, with flavours of aniseed, hickory and distant subtle smoke.

Situated over 1,000 feet above sea level in southwestern Guatemala, the Ron Zacapa Plantation enjoys generous amount of sunlight and mineral-rich, volcanic soils, making it ideal for the cultivation of fresh, raw sugar cane. There, expert farmers many of whom have been tending to the land for decades carefully analyze the sugar cane as it matures on the estate, harvesting only the canes that are rich in sucrose and fiber and lacking in impurities. While most rums are made using molasses, which is a byproduct of refining sugar cane, Ron Zacapa Rum is made using virgin sugar cane honey. The virgin sugar cane honey is extracted from the first pressing of raw sugar cane harvested on the Zacapa Plantation, and lends a luxurious, smooth texture to the rum. Once the honey has been extracted, it is fermented with a unique strain of pineapple yeast before being distilled through a single column still lined with copper. Following distillation, Ron Zacapa Gran Reserva Sistema Solera 23 Rum is solera-aged through a series of casks that were previously used to mature bourbon, sherry and Pedro Ximnez wine. Solera aging is a process that has generally been reserved for aging cognacs, ports and sherries. It involves filling a series of casks at different intervals over a long period of time. As rum from the oldest cask is emptied and bottled, the cask is re-filled with an equivalent amount of rum from the second-oldest cask in the solera. This cascading effect continues until the youngest cask in the solera is filled with new rum. As a result, no cask in the solera is ever fully emptied. In addition, as the younger rum cascades through the solera, its average age and complexity gradually increases over time. As a result of this solera-aging process, Ron Zacapa Gran Reserva Rum has notes of dark figs, raisins, candied nuts and dried fruits. In addition, the solera used to age the rum is situated in the highlands of Quetzaltenango, 7500 feet above sea level. The thinner air and lower atmospheric pressure at "the solera above the clouds" intensifies the maturation process, and creates a more complex, layered rum. Once the rum has cascaded through the solera, Lorena Vazquez Ron Zacapa's master blender blends together rum that has matured for up to 23 years. "I like things to have a structure, to be complex," says Vazquez, "so when you sip a rum, you're going to discover it, and it should surprise you." Ron Zacapa Gran Reserva Sistema Solera 23 Rum has a light mahogany color, along with an aroma of sweet caramel, vanilla, cacao beans and butterscotch. The aroma opens up to notes of sweet honey, raisined fruit and apricots on the palate, which are well-complemented by notes of oak, coffee, leather and tobacco. The finish, which lingers just enough, ends with a touch caramel. The rum earned a score 97 points from the Beverage Tasting Institute, and won five consecutive Gold Medals at the International Rum Festival, where it was ultimately inducted into the Hall of Fame.

During the California Gold Rush, gold dust served as the preferred currency. A miner would open his purse of gold, offering merchants and barkeeps to take a pinch of dust as payment. Prosperous merchants were said to have ‘Fat Thumbs,’ thanks to a reputation for taking generous pinches of gold. In blending Argonaut Fat Thumb, our Master Distiller showed she too had a ‘Fat Thumb’ when pulling from our alembic brandy stocks. The resulting blend showcases the quality of some of our more scarce blending legs. Fat Thumb offers baked apple cobbler, overripe pear, toasted oak, coconut, vanilla, nutmeg and clove, red apple, overripe pear, traces of caramelized banana, rich, silky mouthfeel.

Los Dos and Sergio partnered together over two years ago, but Los Dos is a century in the making. In the small town of Arandas, in the highlands of Jalisco, Sergio Vivanco and his brothers have been growing agaves and distilling at El Ranchito (NOM 1414) for five generations. With a dedication to quality ingredients and traditional process, at heart Los Dos is a family affair.

Made in the highlands of Jalisco, Los Dos blanco is 100% agave tequila and has no additives. Using mature blue agaves hand-selected by the legendary Vivanco family, this blanco is unaged, naturally sweet, and full of character.

TASTING NOTES

COOKED AGAVE | LEMON PEEL | CINNAMON

Tequila can have slight differences from batch to batch, because plants, seasonality, and the environment are involved in the production process. Still, within the rules of nature and without using additives to affect the profile, Los Dos Batch 1 was made with intention. To be complex in flavor, but not complicated to drink.

Heaven Hill distillery was founded in 1935, immediately after Prohibition ended in the United States in 1933, after a group of investors, including the famous Joseph L. Beam, decided to be ready for the rebounding market. Heaven Hill is located on a massive estate boasting 22 multi-story rick-houses across hundreds of acres of land. Now known as the "Heaven Hill Bernheim Distillery" they have the second-largest inventory of Bourbon Whiskey in the world. It is also the only remaining large-scale family-owned distillery in Kentucky. In 1837, Henry McKenna emigrated from Ireland to the United States. After spending nearly two decades as a farmer in Kentucky, McKenna founded an eponymous distillery in 1855. At the time, McKenna focused on the production of wheat whiskey (the only crop he was harvesting at the time) and was able to distill enough whiskey to fill one barrel each day. As word of McKenna's high-quality whiskey spread, McKenna was able to triple his distillation capacity and began experimenting with the production of bourbon. Following his death in 1893, McKenna's three sons Daniel, Stafford and, James began operating the business. The 80-proof Henry Mckenna Bourbon Whiskey honors the rich family tradition and pioneering spirit of Henry McKenna, one of the founding fathers of bourbon. He was among the first to age his whiskey in new, charred American oak barrels. Aged for a minimum of 4 years, it has a mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% barley and is bottled at 80 proof. The oak, vanilla, and butterscotch on the nose are accompanied by floral, citrusy, and cinnamon notes. The mouthfeel is quite creamy and the oak and vanilla are joined by pepper and nutty overtones. There's a well-balanced sweetness with caramel and dried fruit. The finish is medium and slightly warming.

An anise-based spirit from Lebanon distilled from grape juice with fresh aniseeds, imparting its distinctive fresh flavor.

Varieties
Arak Razzouk is made with special varieties of sweet mountain grapes.

Technical Notes
The grapes are crushed and fermented, and then distilled over a low fire. Natural aniseed is then added and the mixture is distilled. The distilled product is poured into earthenware jars to age and mellow for at least six months.

Food Pairing
Arak should be served cool and not cold. The Crystal clear Arak turns milky white when water is added to it in the portion of 30% Arak and 70% water, or 50% Arak and 50% water depending on each one’s own taste. An ice cube or two is then added to the glass to refresh the drink. It is served before and during the meal and symbolizes a relaxed approach to drinking and eating. The best way to enjoy Arak is to sit behind a delicious Middle Eastern Food Table surrounded by good company.
