Holmes Cay is an independent bottling company from New York City. Founded by New Yorker rum aficionado Eric Kaye in 2019, they focus on finding the very best rums and bottling them at cask strength. Kaye used to work as a producer and music composer for film, TV, and commercials, but has also been an avid diver for decades. His favorite pastime brought him into contact with fantastic rare Caribbean rums. He felt he needed to share these with his fellow Americans, which is how Holmes Cay came to be. Passionately standing behind the tradition and honor that is an integral part of rum, Kaye hopes to bring incredible as-of-yet-unknown unadulterated cask-strength rums to the US, introducing spirit-lovers to the best-kept secrets of the rum world. Crafted in collaboration with Travellers Liquors Distillery of Belize it's a 100% tropically-aged column-still rum that has spent 15 years in ex-bourbon barrels. Distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2020 at cask strength, this 122-proof rum has no sugar, color, or flavoring added. 4 casks of this rum were produced in total.

GARRYANA EDITION 6

In Edition 6, Garry Oak comingles with both Brandy and Sherry casks. The Brandy gives a bright filter to the savory spice of Garry Oak. The Pedro Ximénez, its classic darker fruits with muted sweetness. Both add something distinct while leaving enough space for the Garry Oak to shine.

Detailed Description

A combination of ten vintages from Glenrothes, using whiskies that are said to some of the finest examples of their individual vintages. The first release was made up of whiskies from 1989 (said to offer dried fruit and oak notes), 1992, 1997, 1998 (over a quarter of the vatting with plenty of vanilla), 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 (bringing uplifting citrus elements).

Nose: That citrus certainly comes through but soon richer, honeyed fruit cake with fresh red cherry emerges.

Palate: More red berries and nutty, light fruit cake, apple skin and creamy caramels.

The Glenrothes is a single malt Scotch whisky, produced at the Glenrothes Distillery, beside the Burn of Rothes in the Speyside region. The Glenrothes is used in blended scotch whiskies such as Cutty Sark and The Famous Grouse.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Typical tropical fruity note of Rampur with added notes of apricot, blackberry & plum followed with a faint hint of tobacco and spices.

PALATE: Velvety, manuka honey sweetness highlighted by spicy oak, vanilla and balanced with dryness from Indian red wine.

FINISH: The Indian trail lingers with a medium finish. Tantalizingly long, lingering and generous.

To make Benriach Twelve, Benriach spirit is three cask matured for at least twelve years in sherry casks, bourbon barrels and port casks. The whisky from each cask is then expertly married together to create a smooth, sherry-rich single malt, layered with baked fruit, maple honey and cocoa, perfectly balanced with a lingering sultana and spiced mocha finish.

Wilderness Trail Distillery fans who have been enjoying side-by-side comparisons of its yellow label wheated Bourbon and its black label small batch rye Bourbon may now take their analogies to the next level. Look for the silver label with a “6” on the neck tag to indicate that it’s Wilderness Trail 6-year wheated Bourbon or 6-year rye Bourbon. Our Visitors Center is one place to find the bottled in bond goodness of the 6-year small batch rye Bourbon. However, the Visitors Center has sold out of the 6-year wheated Bourbon. Bottles are $69.

The other releases by the Danville distillery, owned by Shane Baker and Dr. Pat Heist, have been four- and five-year-old, bottled in bond Bourbons and a cask strength rye whiskey of similar age expressions.

THE TASTE OF A PRISTINE LAND

Smogóry Forest is crafted with rare Diamond Dankowskie rye from a single estate located in Smogóry, a tiny village in rural Western Poland surrounded by the region’s vast, pristine forests. This exceptionally bold, robust and savory vodka captures the essence of its unspoiled region, recalling the dense hardwood forests dominating the terroir.

The Single Estate Rye Series celebrates Belvedere’s craftsmanship and expertise in vodka distilling, as well as our ability to produce vodkas of complex character. When tasted side by side, the two vodkas deliver demonstrably different taste profiles, illustrating the variation of terroir on the same Dankowskie Diamond rye grown in each unique location.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Intense aromas of sea air, toasted rye bread and caramel.
