Matured in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, this sublime 19 year old whisky is the epitome of an aged Ardbeg. Part of a highly sought-after and collectable Ardbeg series, 19 Years Old Batch 3 is the latest expression. This sublime third batch is, like the bottles before it, is inspired by Islay’s Traigh Bhan beach.

A whisky resigned to the furthest reaches of the Ardbeg Warehouse, Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Years Old Batch 3 was one of the only spirits in the Distillery’s history to be bottled in the midst of a global lockdown. Having spent months on end behind closed doors, this unprecedented bottling is now ready to come out from the dark… and into the light.

Non chill-filtered at 46.2% ABV.

Color: Rose Gold.

Nose: In this whisky, faint waves of scented woodsmoke mingle with sea spray and pine resin. Wisps of aniseed toffee and sweet lilies follow on the breeze while fresh citrus zest laps over notes of cayenne pepper. With a splash of water, waxy notes and charcoal flow into droplets of classic Sherry and linseed oil.

Palete: A rush of rich, sappy textures is followed moments later by classic sweet smokiness. Tarry rope and treacle toffee plunge the palate into a second wave of soot and aniseed twists. Smoke bobs on the horizon, while smoked brown sugar, walnuts and spices gently dissolve away.

Finish: A long, unhurried finish carries bitter almonds and clove in its wake, before slowly drifting away.

Sweet agave with slight caramel and vanilla tones and a very smooth subtle whiskey finish. No artificial flavors or added sugars. 100% Blue Weber Agave-Hecho en Mexico.

THE DETAILS

Anteel Tequila's blend of Lowland and Highland agave forms the base for their award-winning Reposado. The agaves are harvested at the peak of maturity, cooked for a minimum of 35 hours, and distilled twice.

The unique blend is then rested in twice-used Tennessee whiskey barrels for a long eight months. The whiskey casks impart depths of warm vanilla and toasted oak notes, transforming Anteel Reposado into a true sipping tequila.

Maker Notes

Rye Whiskey has deep roots in the story of American Whiskey.  When the colonists pushed out British Rum they didn’t give up drinking,  they just started making whiskey – Rye Whiskey.  Even George Washington had his own still at Mount Vernon, and made a Rye Whiskey for sale.  It was an unaged, unfiltered white lightning, but he double distilled it and sent it off to market. Early in his presidency, Washington imposed a tax on all whiskey made in the US.   The Rye Whiskey makers of western Pennsylvania objected to the tax and started the Whiskey Rebellion.   President Washington himself saddled up and led a Federal Militia into Pennsylvania to put down the insurrection.   Facing the Father of the Country backed by 12000 troops, the rebel farmers and distillers quietly dispersed. Not a shot was fired, and the rebellion came to an end.  The authority of the new national government was upheld, and Rye Whiskey – duly taxed – again flowed freely into pubs throughout country. Rye Whiskey remained popular until prohibition wiped out American Distilling.  Americans got used to the milder, simpler, lighter Canadian whiskey smuggled in during Prohibition.  After Repeal,  Rye Whiskey never reestablished itself.   Until now.  As the community has re-embraced bourbon and rich American Whiskeys over the past few years they have rediscovered Rye.  Rye is the fastest growing premium spirit in the world today.   Its complex flavors are easy to drink straight and add tremendous depth to cocktails.Riptide is CALI Distillery’s idea of a perfect small batch Rye Whiskey.   It is 93% rye with just enough malted barley to drive the fermentation process.  We are so enamored of this mash bill, that we do our best to bottle it as purely as it comes out of the single barrel.   Cask Strength, this 118 proof spirit has a beautiful amber color and an earthy overtone.  The rich butterscotch notes of oak complement the underlying spice of the Rye to make an incredibly smooth Rye Whiskey.

An expertly crafted blend of our finest Añejo and Extra Añejo tequilas, carefully finished in Calvados casks and filtered through a meticulous process that includes Mexican silver. The result is an exceptionally balanced tequila of flawless clarity, revealing sweet notes of cooked agave with a silky texture that dances on the palate alongside hints of vanilla beans, baked apple, and oak.

For our second Single Barrel release, we have hand-selected casks from an extremely limited number of Boxergrail Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey barrels. Each is a study in patience and creativity. To complement this one-of-a-kind whiskey, the packaging for each season of barrel releases will be unique and feature a different series of six original Limited Edition illustrations commissioned by our Founder, Kaveh Zamanian. The result is a true work of art inside and out that could only be bottled at cask strength.

Sue Todd

The bottles from all 10 barrels of Rabbit Hole’s Boxergrail Single Barrel release will feature the illustrations of the award-winning scratchboard illustrator Sue Todd. Kaveh commissioned Sue to create linocut prints of the classic Lewis Carroll characters and the result is six, vibrant illustrations featuring Alice, The White Rabbit, The Hatter, The Queen, The Catepillar and The Footman. Each six-bottle case will contain a bottle with each label design and features special glass and cork sourced exclusively for the Single Barrel program.

Over three decades ago, Ansley Coale picked up a hitchhiker along Route 101 just north of San Francisco. The hitchhiker Hubert Germain-Robin was of French origin and came from a family that had been producing cognac since 1782. As the two drove northward in Coale's car, Hubert spoke of his family's background in distillation. "Hubert wanted to distill using craft methods handed down for centuries from master to apprentice," recalls Coale, who eventually teamed up with the hitchhiker to found Craft Distillers in 2003. After purchasing an antique cognac still from an abandoned distillery, Hubert and Coale built a redwood shed in northern California and began distilling spirits. Craft Distillers Maison Surrenne range is a collaborative effort between Germain-Robin and Cognac's largest remaining family-owned producer: "Surrenne's eight aging cellars hold extensive stocks of aged distillates that have been maintained pure and unblended. There are four distilleries, including the ancient installation in the chateau of Triac. The home distillery is on the Quai de lIle Madame on the banks of the Charente river in Jarnac. Great cognac reflects the land and climate from which its grapes were taken. The bottlings come from specific regions, and we further emphasize their individuality by using cognacs from a particular vintage, or a single distillery, or even an individual cask. Aroma
Opens with an intricate medley of fruits including nectarines, ripe melon, green apple, and apricot. A solid foundation of pot still spices, showcasing notes of freshly peeled ginger and crushed peppercorns, work in tandem with the aged grain’s perfumed notes of dried flowers and delectable golden syrup. The oak continues to reveal itself, adding notes of vanilla, combined with a honeycomb sweetness and freshly roasted coffee beans.

Taste
Luscious at first with succulent fruits and a distinctive creaminess along with a herbal quality akin to camomile tea. The pot still spices add depth and intrigue as they weave amongst the floral grain qualities found lingering throughout. The charred oak’s influence continues to build over time creating additional complexity as the wood-derived spices complement the ever-present fruits of candied orange and dried apricot.

Finish
The fruits and pot still spices build to a crescendo before giving way, leaving the final say to the oak tannins and antique grain whiskey.

Founded in 1952, the Kumesen Syuzo Distilling Co began distilling spirits made from Long Grain Indica Rice and fermented with native Black Koji. By 1989 Kumesen began to finish their product in Bourbon casks and Kujira was born. Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 25 Year is a premium Japanese whisky that has gained a reputation for its exceptional quality and unique flavor profile. It is produced by the Helios Distillery, which is located on the southern island of Okinawa in Japan. The Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 25 Year is made from a blend of rare, aged whiskies that have been matured for at least 25 years in carefully selected oak casks. The aging process is a critical aspect of the production process and is carefully monitored to ensure that the whisky achieves the perfect balance of flavor and aroma.

Tasting notes

Rich and complex, with notes of vanilla, oak, and honey, as well as a hint of smoke and a subtle touch of fruit. On the palate, the whisky is smooth and full-bodied, with flavors of caramel, toffee, and dried fruit. There are also subtle notes of spice and a hint of oak, which add to the overall complexity and depth of flavor. The finish is long and satisfying, with a lingering warmth and a pleasant sweetness that leaves a lasting impression. It is a whisky that is best enjoyed neat, or with a small amount of water to help open up the flavors and aromas.

Slow down for citrus with lemon, lime and grapefruit in Cruzan Citrus Rum. It wasnt easy to strike a perfect balance between those three similar, yet distinct avors, but it sure was worth it.

Serving
Dolin dry vermouth is made from a unique blend of 15 botanicals and spices that macerate in a specific white wine, Ugni Blanc, like the other Dolin vermouths. Absinthe, brooklime, rose and orange bark are the best-known ones, but you can also taste verbena or yellow genepi. Slightly sweet, this dry vermouth is particularly appreciated by bartenders for its subtlety and elegance. You can of course also enjoy this Dolin dry vermouth as an aperitif, neat or on the rocks.

The Glenturret Triple Wood is a sweet and spicy yet soft whisky that builds on the distinctive fruity flavours of our new make spirit. Matured in American and European oak sherry seasoned casks alongside Bourbon barrels. Since 1887, the production of Clément rum has been carried out according to the traditions and time- honored methods inherited from Homère and Charles Clément. Clément Blanc is an approachable and highly mixable rum perfect for cocktails. “Rhum Agricole” is distilled from sugarcane juice as is typical in Martinique and proudly wears the “AOC Martinique” designation signifying an exemplary degree of expertise in every stage of production.

A mission-driven, social impact-driven company, Erstwhile is a boutique agave spirits importer based in Brooklyn, New York.  Our mission: advocate for small, independent, family-owned producers who lack representation outside their local communities in Mexico; and bring their craft to mezcal lovers in international markets for the first time.

We work closely with our partner producers and set them up for success.  No haggling.  No exclusivity contracts.  We guide producers through the complicated steps to export in their own names for the first time, and cover necessary expenses including local attorneys, accountants, license fees, and more.  We absorb our producers’ marketing and supply chain costs as our own. 

We believe in autonomy for producers, be it hiring their own workers or using their own bottling facility. We only step in if they want our help. We connect our partner producers to share knowledge and help each other in production. 

Revenue from every Erstwhile bottle sold creates jobs in our partner producers’ and vendors’ local communities in Mexico.  Our producers hire their own team of local men and women, on their own terms.

Erstwhile Bacon Pechuga (2021 Limited Edition)

Must-have for any serious mezcal collector. This Bacon Pechuga Mezcal is an all-women collaboration and 2021 Limited Release between Erstwhile Mezcal and the Hernández Women Mezcaleras from Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca.  Only 300 liters made.  Ripe mango, guava, pineapple, and bacon locally sourced in Oaxaca are the star ingredients.  Three distillations total.  Bacon is slow-steamed in the still for the last two distillations, giving an amazing creamy and smooth texture to each sip.⁠

Maker Notes

On 6th December 1970, three single casks were filled with Glenrothes Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Over the following half-century, that Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured undisturbed in those self-same barrels.

The relationship between each individual cask, the distillate and the surrounding air brings about a marvellous alchemy; each cask yields a whisky that is slightly different from those around it. To celebrate the differences in personality between individual casks, we have therefore chosen to bottle each of these “sibling casks” separately.

MARK GILLESPIE OF WHISKYCAST’S TASTING NOTES – CASK NO. 10586:

The nose is malty with gentle kisses of peat smoke, vanilla beans, dark chocolate, and touches of dried apricots, mango, and papaya. The taste starts off light and fruity at first, followed by a nice balance of spices, barley sugar, and a hint of smoke. The finish has a whiff of peat smoke, along with chocolate and a lingering touch of spices. Overall, it’s luscious and vibrant with a gentle smokiness. (96 Points)

CASK NO. 10588:

The nose is rich with orange marmalade and notes of vanilla beans, Manuka honey, a touch of smoke, and a good maltiness. The taste can be described in one word – wow! There is a great fruity character with apricots and orange peel balanced by touches of oak tannins, vanilla beans, barley sugar, and a hint of spice that lasts through the long finish along with touches of tropical fruits and a hint of oak.
