It took over 70 years after the prohibition had ended for the distilling industry to return to New York City. New York had a flourishing distilling industry by the early 19th century, however things changed during the Civil War, when President Lincoln taxed spirits to fund the military. This resulted in many distilleries going underground before the end of the century. The fatal blow for the legal distilling industry in US came in 1920, when the Eighteenth Amendment came into effect making the production of alcohol illegal. It was only in the 21st century that small distilleries started resurging in New York. The New York Distilling Company, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is one of the oldest distilleries in the city, and was founded in 2011 by Tom Potter, a co-founder of the Brooklyn Brewery, and Allen Katz, one of the nation's leading experts on distilled spirits and cocktails. The distillery specializes in gins and rye whiskeys and has been one of the pioneers of the city's distilling renaissance that builds upon the pre-prohibition heritage. Gin distilling in New York began in the 17th century, when Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam (as New York was then called) started making a version of the Dutch spirit genever. However, it wasn't until the early 19th century when the first commercial gin was produced in the US. Gin was a popular drink during the prohibition, as it was simple to make. American gin is a bit different from London and other European gins as a result of using other botanicals. Dorothy Parker Rose Petal Flavored Gin is a variation of New York Distilling Company's American gin, named after the famous New York writer Dorothy Parker. This fun and fanciful expression is made with an infusion of red and pink rose petals and crushed elderberries. Other botanicals used include juniper berries, coriander, green cardamom pods, cinnamon bark, lemon peel, and orange peel.

Naked Grouse is a new all malt blended Scotch that goes back to whisky at its simplest and most uncomplicated. In 1939, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth made history when they became the first reigning monarchs to journey across North America, traveling from Quebec City to Vancouver by train. Prior to their arrival, a local entrepreneur set out to craft a Whisky that the King and Queen could enjoy in the privacy of their rail car. After sampling over 600 different blends of Whisky, and scouring through hundreds of different types of glass, labels, and bottles, the entrepreneur created what he believed to be the perfect Whisky and called it Crown Royal. At the beginning of their journey, the King and Queen were gifted ten cases of the Whisky from Canada to enjoy on their journey. This Seasonal Limited Edition is one of four flavored Whiskies of Crown Royal, including Crown Royal Apple, Vanilla, and Maple.Crown Royal is crafted from some of the purest water sourced from Lake Winnipeg, naturally filtered through the limestone beneathand a grain blend of rye, corn, and barley. Mark and Digger's Rye Apple is an exquisite invention from the hills of East Tennessee. This unaged rye combines gala apples with traditional pie spices such as nutmeg, allspice, and clove. Rye Apple is quick to finish, but long to remember the way any fine shine should be.

Rye Apple serves bold complex flavors with just the right amount of proof. Rye Apple pairs well with pear, citrus fruits, vanilla, banana, maple, and oak. Add a little Rye Apple to your favorite pies all fall!

Sour bourbon mash is comprised of 57% corn 38% rye and 5% malted barley. It is bright, cleaned, and balanced. The corn really shines up front with a round soft sweetness. The rye lends it a subtle spiciness and the malt gives it a nice backbone. At 50% ABV it drinks very nice as a sipper or on the rocks.

Color: Clear with an almost unnoticeable trace of tannins from the barrel.

Nose: Bright floral, grapefruit, light vanilla, bread, and corn

Taste & Finish: Sweet cooked corn, soft vanilla, white pepper, grace

Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon is uniquely aged twice in two separate charred oak barrels. It's first aged in charred American white oak barrels, and then we pour it into different freshly charred barrels to mature for a second time. The added interaction with the oak wood results in a bourbon that's intense in flavor, smooth in taste.

THE LONE SURVIVOR

All of the barrels of rum were destroyed except one, which was badly stained by the squid’s black ink. It was dubbed “The Kraken Rum.” It is now known as a liquid of unparalleled darkness.

Stranahan’s Original is a small batch American single malt whiskey, aged in new American oak barrels with a #3 char for a minimum of 4 years, before being cut to proof with Rocky Mountain Spring water. Made with locally sourced grains, Rocky Mountain spring water, and patience. Every bottle is a marriage of barrels aged for 4, 5, 6, and 7 years. Non-chill filtered, and 47% ABV for a bold flavor. Enjoy neat, on the rocks, or in your favorite classic whiskey cocktail.

NOSE: Caramel-butterscotch, vanilla, maple syrup, leather.

Strega Liqueur, born in Benevento, was created in 1860 by a clever, forward-looking entrepreneur. Strega, obtained by the distillation of about 70 herbs and spices from all over the world, is a whole natural product. Its unique, yet versatile flavour can be enjoyed in many ways: neat, icy or mixed in more sophisticated long drinks and cocktails.

Strega liqueur is one of the most famous Italian liqueurs , it is unique and unmistakable for its taste, thanks to the exclusive use of natural ingredients. Its processing starts with the grinding of about 70 herbs and spices, they are being selected from all over the world, and each one of them has unique properties. Among these herbs we find Ceylon cinnamon, Florentine iris, Italian Apennine juniper, Samnite mint, which grows along the riverbanks in the whole region. Following the end of the American Revolutionary War, Johannes Reginald Beam emigrated from Germany to the United States, and eventually settled in Kentucky County. At the time, Kentucky County was still considered part of Virginia, and was overseen by a military governor named John J. Bowman. After settling in Kentucky, Beam began harvesting corn and set forth a family tradition by distilling the excess grains he harvested into whiskey. Since then, seven generations of the Beam family have been involved in whiskey production for the eponymous company (the company is actually named after James Beam, who rescued it following Prohibition). Knob Creek Bourbon was created by Beam's grandson, Booker Noe, who after joining the family business in 1950 was promoted to Master Distiller just ten years later. Booker talked like a true Kentuckian and was known for his contagious personality, and through his launch of the "Small Batch Bourbon Collection" the collection includes Knob Creek as well as Basil Hayden's, Booker's and Baker's bourbons he is often credited as the father of the small batch bourbon movement. Knob Creek Bourbon takes its name from the small water source, Knob Creek, that ran through President Abraham Lincoln's childhood farm. Booker's vision for Knob Creek Bourbon was that of an honest, quality bourbon that could meet the standards strength, flavor, care, and patience of bourbon made before Prohibition distressed the industry just decades earlier. Like Abraham Lincoln himself, Booker designed Knob Creek Bourbon to be honest, unwavering and full of character. In 2016 the much-loved 9-year-old Small Batch Bourbon lost its age statement due to inventory issues. Now it's making its return in style with the label proudly stating: Knob Creek 9 Year Old Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Aged for 9 years and bottled at 100 proof, it's the Knob Creek you know and love.
