WHISKY MAKER'S NOTES

Color: Natural, light and golden.

Nose: Complex yet balanced. Buttery pastries and brioche develop into aromas of toasted malts and sweet baking spices.

Palate: Structured with a full body. Brioche quickly transitions into grassy notes. A slight woodiness balanced perfectly with vanilla and nutmeg. Refined and well-rounded.

Finish: Sophisticated and subtle. The soft spices and nutty malts balance beautifully leading to slightly sweet notes from the extra old cognac casks.

THE LOST ART OF TEQUILA MAKING

CAZCANES WATER
Cazcanes sources natural artesian water for our tequila. The water starts off as rain or snow high up on the pristine peaks of the San Pedro de los Landeros mountains. It slowly travels through natural minerals deep within the volcanic mountains before emerging at the Navichi springs.

NATURAL YEAST FERMENTATION
The ‘piñas’ are then cooked, and crushed to extract and concentrate their flavors.  Next comes fermentation using natural, wild yeast, and then distillation in our alembic stills.

CAZCANES AGAVE
Hand-selected Weber Blue Lowland (Tequila Valley) Agave grown in Volcanic Tufa Soil at 4000-6000 ft is harvested during peak sugar levels to deliver a distinct Cazcanes taste.

In 1870, Maurice Hennessy created Hennessy X.O for his circle of friends and introduced a new style of cognac.  Hennessy X.O is the Original, the emblematic icon of the Hennessy Maison. Deep and powerful, the eaux-de-vie of this Hennessy X.O cognac are aged in young barrels and marked out by their power and energy, but also by their capacity to achieve a great roundness through time. Our Tasting Committee has explored every facet of the blend and identified several emotions that were assimilated to an Odyssey through 7 chapters: 

Tasting Notes

Sweet Notes: The palate is warmly embraced by flavors of candied fruit.

Rising Heat: The intriguing sensation of an intense, rising heat slowly reveals the complex taste of eaux-de-vie patiently aged in oak barrels.

Spicy Edge: Perception of a strong spicy cognac note, tantalising the lips and palate with its distinct peppery flavor intertwined with a hint of chocolate. 

Flowing Flame: A wave of warmth grows, crests and then breaks. A robust presence, full and voluptuous, is felt. 

Chocolate Lull: There is the gradual discovery of something very familiar. It is the well-rounded flavor of a rich, dark chocolate.

Wood Crunches: A striking sensation is suddenly felt – the vigorous ebb and flow of oak notes interlaced with vanilla.

Infinite Echo: The evanescent oak notes leave a long, omnipresent finish in their wake. Seemingly endless, it echoes all of the subtleties of each taste and sensation that has preceded it.

The result is a beautiful rum reminiscent of the past. Golden amber in the glass with notes of butterscotch, toffee, mocha and plum waft through the air when nosing the liquid. On the palate, the liquid is initially spicy, followed up by rich, dried fruits, dark chocolate and oak. The King's Path.

This brilliant and lively Champagne illuminates the King's Path. Our Brut is made with grapes from only the finest vineyards in Champagne, France that have matured to peak ripeness. After pressing, the wine I aged over four years, and on the lees to create a balance of bright and crisp acidity with notes of ripe stone fruits. We take great pride in delivering a flawless taste of victory with a Gold symbol of the King on every bottle.

This wine has a subtle, pale gold color with fine, persistent bubbles. It is delicate, from the majority of Chardonnay, with apricot, white peach, eucalyptus on the nose and flavors of stone fruit, toasted brioche, bay leaf and white cherries on palate. The crisp finish highlighted with subtle notes of citrus and minerals for a refreshing mouthfeel.

Twisted Tattoo is the new 16 year old limited edition from Highland Park. Rich and full-bodied, this whisky has been crafted using an innovative combination of Spanish Rioja seasoned casks and first-fill bourbon casks a first for the distillery. The packaging for this edition was designed by Danish tattoo artist Colin Dale who is renowned for his creations using the classic stick and poke tattoo technique. This non-electric method is done freestyle with needle and ink, building each intricate design dot by dot.

We have a tradition of defying convention and that’s how we came to create this distinct and bold single malt whisky and its equally distinct and bold packaging.

The name and design was inspired by the Norse legend of the Midgard serpent, which grew so large it could twist right around the earth to bite its own tail; and we developed the packaging in partnership with Danish tattoo artist, Colin Dale, who uses both ancient and modern tattooing techniques to tell stories on the skin.

Using first-fill Rioja casks in combination with refill casks was a first for Highland Park and the result is a rich and contemporary single malt whisky with very distinctive character. You’ll find generous layers of sweet vanilla, sun-ripened peaches, summer berries and full-bodied red wine, combined on gust of heather-rich peat smoke.

We’ve been crafting our award-winning whisky at the Highland Park Distillery in Kirkwall, Orkney, since 1798. El Tesoro de Don Felipe tequila honors Don Felipe Camarena, the man who established La Altea Distillery in 1937, where El Tesoro continues to be distilled today. El Tesoro tequila is the treasure of Jalisco, created in celebration of Don Felipe's most precious asset: his agaves. El Tesoro Extra Aejo is rested in ex-bourbon barrels by Carlos's father, Don Felipe J. Camarena Orozco and aged 4-5 years, El Tesoro Extra Aejo is a unique treasure with outstanding flavors. The taste is smooth and very well-balanced. Coffee and dark chocolate are present, followed by dry fruits and roasted almonds. The finish brings forward a hint of pepper with an oak flavor. 

Diplomtico Single Vintage is crafted from a selection of special rum reserves that evolved in an exceptional way, drawing the interest of the Maestros Roneros for their distinctive character. This special liquid is separated from the rest of the reserves for its uniqueness, and to be shared with rum enthusiasts. Distilled in vintage copper pot stills in the year indicated on the label, the rum is then aged in bourbon and single malt whisky casks for twelve years.

After the aging process, the Maestros Roneros carefully blend the rum in order to obtain the structure, body, personality, flavors and aromas that they are looking for. Finally, the rum spends a year in Spanish sherry casks to provide the perfect finish.

Deep amber in color, the El Tinieblo Anejo is sweet and warming in its depth. Aged at least two years, this anejo is an ensemble of Espadin and Salmiana agaves from Rancho El Tinieblo and aged at least two years in Kentucky Bourbon barrels before being bottled in unique hand blown glass. Mezcal El Tinieblo is an ultra premium mezcal handcrafted in the state of Tamaulipas at Rancho El Tinieblo, our family's 9,000 acre ranch and wildlife preserve where we grow and distill our agave.

Each plant is carefully grown with zero pesticides, insecticides, and harmful chemicals. As it takes at least 20 years for one plant to mature, for every one harvested, we plant 25 more. Under the guidance of our maestro mezcalero, we identify and harvest the best and ripest maguey, the base that will ensure each batch will result in a refined mezcal. Cooking maguey is a social and committed 24 hour process that brings everyone from the ranch together around the open-pit fire to watch the roasting of the pias over wood, rocks and earth. This whole process is done on our ranch so we can ensure our quality.
