Bookers Noe Strangers Batch 2021-04 Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Bookers Bourbon

750 ml | 62.2% ABV
Whiskey | Bourbon

The second release of the Booker’s Bourbon 2021 Collection is Booker’s Batch 2021-02 ‘Tagalong Batch.’ This batch celebrates the way my dad, Booker Noe, learned the ropes at the distillery - by ‘tagging along’ with his grandfather and my great grandfather, Jim Beam.

The fourth release of the Booker’s Bourbon 2021 Collection is Booker’s Batch 2021-04 ‘Noe Strangers Batch. This batch celebrates the genuine, social nature of my dad, Booker Noe, and the way he could turn a stranger into a friend for life in no time.

Growing up, the distillery was like Dad’s playground; he loved spending time with his grandfather and everyone else who worked there, asking questions and expanding his knowledge. That’s ultimately how he developed his curiosity and passion for whiskey, and it was how he became such a talented Master Distiller.

The tradition of ‘tagging along’ has continued from generation to generation. I learned much of what I know about whiskey by following in Dad’s footsteps, and digesting all of the information I could while working side-by-side at the distillery. It’s also a tradition I continued with my son Freddie, and one I hope he’ll share with his children in the future.

Tagging along had some other rewards too, such as heading to the nearby lake to cast a line together after a hard day’s work. We all have fond memories of that quality time, and I hope you enjoy this batch as part of your quality time with family and friends too.

P.S: The available Release will be shipped when the order is processed.

Kilchoman Loch Gorm Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Kilchoman

Whiskey | Scotch

Situated along a rugged farm on the western coast of Islay, Kilochman Distillery was founded in 2005 and is the first new distillery on Islay in over 125 years. "When we first started work on Kilchoman in 2003," says Anthony Wills, the distillery's founder, "the ambition was to build a distillery that was true to the traditions of distilling on Islay small farm distillers where every part of the whisky making process was done on site and I think we have managed to do just that." Kilchoman Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from fresh barley, which is harvested and then malted at the distillery's malthouse (Kilchoman is one of just six distilleries in Scotland that continues to malt its own barley). Once the barley has been malted, it is dried over a peat flame for ten hours. This drying process the barley is peated to approximately 20 phenol parts per million contributes a smoky, iodine-like flavor to the whisky. After the barley has been dried, it is fermented for three to four days in stainless steel washbacks before being twice distilled through Kilchoman's copper-pot stills. Kilchoman Loch Gorm Single Malt Scotch Whisky is aged for five years in casks that were previously used to mature Oloroso sherry. As a result, the whisky is slightly fruity, with an aroma of spices and soft peat. Notes of sweet fruits, bananas and pears dominate the palate, and are balanced by a subtle peaty undertone. The finish is long and clean, with a burst of citrus. 13,500 bottles had only been released.

Hillrock Solera Aged Bourbon Whiskey

Hillrock

Whiskey | Bourbon

In the early 1800’s, New York produced more than half the young nation’s Barley and Rye and the Hudson Valley was the country’s breadbasket. With abundant high quality grain, local craft spirits flourished and over 1000 farm distilleries produced Whiskey and Gin reflecting the unique terroir of the region. In the 1930’s, Prohibition forced these distilleries to shut their doors and this wellspring of American spirits was left dry.

Hillrock Estate Distillery is changing this. Our mission is to produce the finest hand-crafted spirits made with our own grain, floor malted, craft distilled in our copper pot still, aged in fine oak and hand bottled at our estate in the Hudson Valley Highlands. Crowned by a fine 1806 Georgian house built by a successful grain merchant and Revolutionary War Captain and meticulously restored to its original beauty, Hillrock Distillery overlooks our rolling barley fields and the distant Berkshire Mountains. Like our premier spirits, every detail refined, no expense spared, quality steeped in the tradition of 200 years of rich history.

Hillrock is proud to be one of the few “field-to-glass” whiskey producers in the world and the first USA distillery since before Prohibition to floor malt and hand craft whiskey on site from estate grown grain. Hillrock’s commitment to quality embodies the rich history of artisanal distilling in the Hudson Valley. By controlling every aspect of production from planting & harvesting heirloom grains, to smoking our malt, to crafting whiskies in our copper pot still, to aging in small oak barrels and hand bottling, we are able to create the highest quality whiskies reflecting the unique local terroir.

Ron Abuelo Centuria Rum

Ron Abuelo

Rum

Five years after Panama seceded from Colombia, Don Jose Varela a young Spanish entrepreneur opened the first sugar mill in Pes, a small city situated in southern Panama. Thirty years later, Varela began distilling the excess sugar cane that he harvested into rum. While rum has traditionally been associated with the Caribbean islands, the rum matured in Pes is uniquely flavorful due to Panama's climate. The tropical rainfall, humid days and breezy nights produce incredibly ripe sugar cane, and add character and personality to the rum as it matures. Today, Luis J. Varela Don Jose's grandson represents the third-generation of master distillers in his family. "Our brand is the expression of our long and passionate quest to produce the finest aged rum in the world,"Varela says. Ron Abuelo Centuria Rum is a limited-edition rum crafted exclusively from sugar cane harvested on the Varela Estate. While many sugarcane farmers burn their fields prior to harvesting their plants (burning enables faster cultivation), Varela refuses to use flame-harvesting due to the detrimental effects it has on the sugars residing in the base of the cane stalk. Rather, when the sugarcane reaches its peak of maturity, expert farmers at the Varela Estate tenderly harvest the crops by hand. Once the cane has been harvested, it is shredded at the distillery before being fermented and distilled. Following distillation, the rum is solera-aged for up to 30 years. Solera aging is a process that has generally been reserved for aging cognacs, ports and sherries. It involves filling a series of casks at different intervals over a long period of time. As rum from the oldest cask is emptied and bottled, the cask is re-filled with an equivalent amount of rum from the second-oldest cask in the solera. This cascading effect continues until the youngest cask in the solera is filled with new rum. As a result, no cask in the solera is ever fully emptied. In addition, as the younger rum cascades through the solera, its average age and complexity gradually increases over time. Ron Abuelo Centuria Rum was crafted to celebrate the distillery's 100th anniversary. The rum has a dark caramel color, along with an aroma of sweet vanilla, toffee and chocolate. The aroma gives way to notes of crme br?le, molasses, coffee and dark tea on the palate, and finishes with a touch of sweetness. The rum was named one of the top 10 rums by Gayot, and was rated one of the Top 50 Spirits by Wine Enthusiast, which gave it a score of 97 points. In addition, it earned a score of 96 points from the Beverage Testing Institute, which said that it was "a fantastically flavorful and balanced sipping rum."

Ron Zacapa Centenario XO Gran Reserva Especial Solera Rum

Ron Zacapa

750 | 40% ABV
Rum

Situated over 1,000 feet above sea level in southwestern Guatemala, the Ron Zacapa Plantation enjoys generous amount of sunlight and mineral-rich, volcanic soils, making it ideal for the cultivation of fresh, raw sugar cane. There, expert farmers many of whom have been tending to the land for decades carefully analyze the sugar cane as it matures on the estate, harvesting only the canes that contain high levels of sucrose and fiber and low levels of impurities. While most rums are made using molasses, which is a byproduct of refining sugar cane, Ron Zacapa Rum is made using virgin sugar cane honey. The virgin sugar cane honey is extracted from the first pressing of raw sugar cane harvested on the Zacapa Plantation, and lends a luxurious, smooth texture to the rum. Once the honey has been extracted, it is fermented with a unique strain of pineapple yeast before being distilled through a single column still lined with copper. Following distillation, Ron Zacapa XO Solera Gran Reserva Especial is solera-aged through a series of casks that were previously used to mature bourbon, sherry and Pedro Ximenez wine. Ron Zacapa XO is crafted from a marriage of rums that have been solera-aged and are up to twenty-five years old. In addition, the rum is finished in French oak barrels that were previously used to mature cognac. As a result, the rum has an intense mahogany color, along with an aroma of leather, burnt caramel, roasted nuts and orange zest. The aroma gives way to notes of tobacco, cherries, chocolate, dates and figs on the palate, and leads to a long, semi-sweet finish accented by notes of raisins, vanilla and cinnamon. Ron Zacapa XO was named one of the Top 10 Spirits of the Year by Gayot, and was named the Best Sipping Rum by Gear Patrol. In addition, it was named one of the Ten Best Choices for National Rum Day by Forbes.

Zacapa XO is a unique balance of complex aromas and flavors resulting from the exclusive blend of reserve rums. We hand-select rums aged between 10 and 25 years in the “Sistema Solera.” Older and younger rums are then blended as they age in a sequence of barrels that previously stored robust American whiskeys, delicate Sherries, fine Pedro Ximénez wines and finished in French oak casks which previously aged Cognac. Zacapa XO is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks and pairs beautifully with dark chocolate and desserts.

Dictador XO Solera Insolent Rum

In 1751, Severo Arango Y Ferro journeyed from Spain to the port city of Cartagena, situated in northern Colombia. Ferro had been sent to Columbia by the King, and was asked to establish and oversee commercial trading activities between Spain and its American colonies. Ferro proved himself to be an able and ruthless statesman and under his leadership, the city of Cartagena became a hub of economic activity and the most important port for the Spanish fleet in the Americas. Ferro's strength and power also earned him the nickname "Dictador." Dictador was partial to a variety of rums that were being distilled in the Caribbean at the time, many of which passed through Cartagena on their way to Spain. In 1913, over 150 years after Ferro initially arrived in Colombia, one of his descendants established Destileria Columbiana. Today, the distillery honors the legacy of its founding ancestors with Dictador Rum. Dictador XO Insolent Solera System Rum is made from the virgin nectar of raw sugar canes. Once the nectar has been fermented, it is distilled through a stainless steel alembic still and solera-aged in casks that were previously used to mature Jerez and Port. As a result of this aging process, Dictador Insolent has a deep mahogany color, along with an aroma of honey, caramel, dark chocolate and wood tannins. Notes of rich brown sugar, milk chocolate and dried fruits dominate the palate, and lead to a finish accented by touches of papaya, bananas, cloves and vanilla. Dictador Insolent earned the Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2012.

Auchentoshan Virgin Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Auchentoshan

750 ml | 46% ABV
Whiskey | Scotch

Nestled at the base of the Kilpatrick Hills in Western Scotland, Auchentoshan Distillery, established in 1800, stands as one of the few remaining Lowland Single Malt Whisky distilleries. It has earned the moniker "Glasgow's Distillery" for its close proximity to the city and is known for its whisky's nickname, "breakfast whisky," owing to its delightful sweetness and elegant texture. During World War II, the distillery endured relentless bombings, resulting in the loss of much of its maturing whisky to fire or the Clyde River that flows alongside. Despite the challenges, Auchentoshan was rebuilt after the war, serving as a testament to Scottish resilience and ingenuity.

Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky is crafted using carefully malted, unpeated optic barley. After malting, the barley is milled, mashed, and then fermented in wooden washbacks made of Oregon Pine. Though wooden washbacks are costlier and require more upkeep than stainless steel, they retain some of the fermentation's warmth, yielding a lighter and slightly sweeter whisky.

Following fermentation, the whisky is triple distilled using Auchentoshan's copper pot stills, unlike the traditional double distillation found in Scotch whisky. This additional distillation stage, unique among major Scottish distilleries, involves passing the spirit through a wash still, intermediate still, and finally, a spirit still. This extra distillation imparts a purer and more refined character to the whisky, setting it apart from others.

Auchentoshan Virgin Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky exclusively matures in newly charred casks made of North American oak. While Scotch traditionally matures in used sherry, port, or bourbon casks, employing new oak casks as a finishing technique allows the whisky to embrace the sweeter and more complex flavors of virgin wood. The whisky is then bottled without chill filtration or artificial coloring, preserving its authentic character.

This expression reveals enticing aromas of banana custard, creamy vanilla, and caramel apples. On the palate, one can savor spiced fruits, notably kiwi, oranges, and apples, culminating in a lingering touch of spiced pears. Auchentoshan Virgin Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky offers a truly delightful and flavorful experience for whisky enthusiasts seeking unique and enticing expressions.
