Canton Distillery (Brand) Bourbon in a Football Decanter

Our award winning, premium bourbon whiskey housed in a uniquely designed and patented football decanter bottle, each is individually blown and formed in the shape of an actual professional football, right down to the laces on the glass ball. Every bottle includes a pigskin replica stopper and sits on a raised pedestal base (all one molded piece), which is a quintessential depiction of an actual football field, complete with the yard lines and end zones. The perfect holiday or special occasion gift for the gridiron fan in all of us.

All are 750 ml bottles. A blend of select young and older, more complex bourbons, the two distinctive styles were hand-selected and chosen for their individual character and flavor profile. This bourbon finishes on the palate with caramel and butterscotch, rounded out with a layer of sweet toffee.

FOOD PAIRING: ROASTED ROOT VEGETABLES, RED SNAPPER, AND CHEESECAKE

Barrell Bourbon Batch 032 began with a balance of two sets of barrels: a selection of 5 and 6-year-old barrels with a creamy and tropical profile and a selection of 6, 7 and 10-year-old barrels vatted for their complex, old, woody character. These two sets of barrels were slowly blended over three months. A small group of spice driven 7-year-old barrels with notes of cinnamon toast, coffee bean and chocolate were then carefully added to complete the blend. The result is a decadent and rich bourbon with layers of spice and nuttiness

Barrell Craft Spirits in Louisville, KY has created a limited release whiskey called Barrell DSX2 PX Cask Whiskey. It is a blend of different whiskeys, including a 14-year-old Indiana whiskey as the base, along with 18-year-old Kentucky whiskey, bourbon, and rye to enhance its complexity. The whiskey was then finished in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask for a period of 2-6 months. This finishing process adds sweet and rich flavors of dried fig, raisin, and toffee to the whiskey.

Barrell DSX2 PX Cask Whiskey has received recognition for its quality, being a finalist at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge with a score of 91 points and winning a Double Gold medal at the New York International Spirits Competition in 2022. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at a cask strength of 62.04% ABV.

The Barrell Private Release Series, of which DSX2 is a part, showcases the art of blending, where each component and the barrel in which they are aged contribute to the unique character of each bottling.

A 6 month accelerated-aged Kentucky Bourbon.

WBW has a unique flavor with a light front end of Cabernet berries with a smooth bourbon middle and a long-lasting Carmel finish on the back of the mouth.

The mash was made in Kentucky, then sent in barrels to a manufacturer to accelerate the aging process by using ultrasonic waves (more Bourbon to stave contact). The Bourbon was then finished at our San Diego distillery in French Oak Cabernet wine barrels used to make Charles Woodson's Napa Valley wine.

INSPIRED BY BOURBON'S HISTORY
The art of making fine bourbon first took place on the site of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a National Historic Landmark, in 1812. You get that sense of history. The history of bourbon is the history of Kentucky, is the history of the United States.

GRAIN RECIPE
Woodford Reserve is crafted from a grain recipe of 72% corn, 18% Rye, and 10% malted barley. This recipe balances the sweetness of corn with the spice of rye, and the nuttiness of malt to build the base for the world’s most flavorful bourbon.
WATER SOURCE
The water we use to craft Woodford Reserve comes directly from the distillery. It is naturally filtered by the limestone deposits under our property. Iron-free and mineral rich, it is a crucial ingredient in process.
FERMENTATION
Our fermentation process is among the longest in the industry. This extra time, paired with our unique yeast strain, creates a great depth of character and a complex range of flavors.
DISTILLATION
The perfectly balanced flavor of Woodford Reserve comes from a careful batching process of whiskey distilled in pot stills and whiskey distilled in column stills. No other whiskey can boast such a flavor combination.

Woodford Reserve Derby

Woodford Reserve, the Presenting Sponsor of the Kentucky Derby, is honoring “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports” with the release of its 2022 commemorative Derby bottle.

This year’s bottle features the artwork of Kentucky native Jaime Corum, an equine artist known for her stunning horse portraits. Corum’s painting, titled “Dreams in Bloom,” features three thoroughbreds racing neck-and-neck, surrounded by a spray of vivid spring flowers, including the iconic red roses of Derby.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh walnuts, sugarcane, and coconut. Loose leaf tobacco. Prickly pears and a hint of banana. 

Palate: Lemon curd and angelica. Fresh oak, cinnamon, and candy sugar.

Finish: Vanilla, tobacco, lemon curd and raisins. 

About this Chapter 7 Whisky

Cambus, a Lowland distillery, played a key role in the establishment of grain whisky. It began distilling malt in 1806 until owner John Mubray installed two patent stills in 1836. During the 19th century, Cambus expanded to become one of the founding companies of DCL. Its ad in The Daily Mail was critical in swaying public opinion about grain whisky. This led to DCL winning their case against malt distilleries in 1908.

Chapter 7 Whisky has finished a single bourbon hogshead in three octave casks. The octaves had previously held Glen Elgin and Linkwood. This is a well aged, well finished, example of Cambus single grain whisky.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fruit salad with oranges. Honey, custard, barley water and nougat. Café late with brioche.

Palate: Orange juice, natural vanilla, raisins and maize bread.

Finish: Caramelised pear tart. Ginger, cinnamon and bay leaves.

About this Chapter 7 Whisky

Blair Athol is one of Diageo's workhorse distilleries. Much of its malt whisky ends up in Bell's blended scotch. It's a beautiful distillery built in 1798 in Pitlochry. Majority of Blair Athol casks destined for blending are ex-bourbon barrels. It has a nutty character resulting from cloudy worts and short fermentation. Allowing controlled levels of solids coming across in the wash still adds a deep, rich meat loaf character.

Penelope Bourbon Toasted Series explores new and unique expressions of our signature four grain straight bourbon whiskey. After full maturation in charred new American oak barrels, we finish Penelope Bourbon in a new, freshly toasted barrel. Each batch is a unique blend of our signature three bourbon mash bills and all have different custom chars & toasts – making each bottle unique and different. The barrels selected for this series are the best our inventory has to offer and go through an extensive hand-selection process.

Enjoy the following cocktail recipe:

1 L Wild Turkey 101
20 g cardamom seeds
150 g dried, unsweetened cranberries
3 sticks cinnamon

In a wide-mouthed glass infusion jar, place the Wild lurkey 101 and the cardamom seeds. Close and leave in a cool dark place for 1 day. Strain out cardamom and add the cranberries and cinnamon. Close and leave for another 2 days, agitating once per day. Strain solids and store in the original Wild Turkey bottle with proper labeling.
