A distinctive tequila distilled by Melly Cardenas at her small distillery in the highlands of Jalisco. Made from mature agave cultivated at the height of it's sugar production, it is baked within 24 hours of being cut, spends 24 hours in earthen ovens, and is rested for 24 hours before crushing. It is naturally fermented, twice distilled, and rested in reused American whiskey barrels for 8 months. Bottles are hand blown with recycled glass in Guadalajara.

Tasting Notes

Nose: The nose has an aroma of freshly-laid pavement with stewed agave notes.

Palate: La Gritona is not too sweet, no vanilla, chocolate, or pepper, just refreshing and vegetal agave.

Finish: The finish is extremely round with no burn.

100% de Agave Reposado has been aged for just less than a year in new  white oak barrels. The oak barrels give Reposado a mellowed taste,  pleasing bouquet, and its pale color. Reposado keeps the blue agave  taste and is gentler to the palate. It has a distinct taste that  acquires a sophisticated nuance without losing its great heritage. The  Reposado barrels, called pipon, are usually made of white oak and  accommodate Tequila batches of up to 10,000 liters.
