Forty years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, George A. Dickel was born in a rural town in eastern Tennessee. By 1867, Dickel was an established Nashville merchant but moved his family to the city of Tullahoma (situated in south-central Tennessee), where he purchased the Cascade Hollow Distillery. After working tirelessly at the distillery, Dickel declared that his spirits were of equal quality to the finest scotch, and followed in the Scottish tradition of spelling whisky without an "e." While George A. Dickel Distillery was forced to close its doors as a result of Prohibition, it was rebuilt in 1958 by Master Distiller Ralph Dupps. To ensure the whisky's authenticity, Dupps obtained the original manuscripts in which Dickel detailed his unique recipe and distillation processes. Today, Master Distiller John Lunn carries on the tradition of excellence that has made Dickel whisky a symbol of quality for over a century. George Dickel's newest 13-year-old limited release is bold and balanced. Born on September 5, 1850, Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel was the youngest of ten children. His parents were of Scottish and Irish descent. In 1864 Jack learned the art of whiskey making from the preacher and an enslaved man named Nathan "Nearest" Green. Nearest eventually became Jack Daniel Distillery's head distiller. Daniel's distillery founded in Lynchburg, Tennessee in 1866 was the first registered distillery in the country (at the time, distilleries were required to register with the federal government, and the Jack Daniel Distillery was given Registered Distillery Number 1). Today, Jack Daniel Distillery is one of the most distinguished and recognizable names in the spirits industry. Among all their offerings Jack Daniel's Black Label stands out as the instantly recognizable, iconic classic and the brand's flagship. It accounts for 96% of Jack Daniel's sales, making it the best selling whiskey in the world. While the true meaning behind the "Old No. 7" on the label was lost with Daniel's death, it is known that it won 7 gold medals in a very different time. It received its very first at the 1904 World's Fair in St Louis, Missouri, where the spirit reigned supreme over 24 others from across the globe a sign of things to come. The most important step in its creation is still the charcoal mellowing, or as they like to call it "The Extra Blessing". Before going into barrels, the clear, 140-proof distillate is filtered through handcrafted charcoal drop by drop, a process that takes from 3 to 5 days and is the reason behind the Black Label's signature smoothness. We named our limited editions Cascade Moon as a nod to our history of our whisky being ‘as mellow as moonlight’ and nights together at our impressive Tennessee location. Taking cues from the vintage advertising of Cascade Hollow and the world of George Dickel our new brand strikes a balance between tradition and the contemporary.

Nose is bright and fruity, with notes of raspberries, pineapple and coconut. Surprising savory grain character on the palate with a hint of brothy salinity, and a delicate finish.

This year’s annual special release celebrates Coy Hill which is the highest-elevated rolling hill on the Jack Daniel Distillery property.  This rare high-proof release honors the art of the whiskey-making process, as well as showcases how a barrel house location along with the extreme weather and maturation conditions produces an exceptional whiskey flavor.  The Coy Hill High Proof is bottled in its purest form straight from the barrel, with minimal filtration, uncut at 137.4 - 148.3 proof. This one-of-kind Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel bottle should remain upright at all times unless you are pouring it into a glass to enjoy.

Ole Smoky’s take on a blended whiskey led to this smooth, smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with cola or, for the purists, a nice long pour over rocks in your favorite glass.

Celebrating 150 years of passion for cra­fting quality whisky, CASCADE MOON EDITION NO. 2 continues to set the tone for the future of the whisky category while looking toward the next 150 years. Further tying back to George Dickel’s history, the liquid for this second release was taken from a small batch blend curated around the first barrel of TN Whisky  filled a­fter the distillery returned from shutdown in 2003. This small batch blend used less than 20 barrels, holding some of our best whiskies aged at least 17 years that are befitting a celebration of a 150 year heritage.

Big Moustache whiskey is made with 80% corn, 10% rye and 10% malted barley. A long fermentation of 3 days makes our whiskey unique. The freshly distilled whiskey is filtered over sugar maple charcoal before entering new American oak barrels for aging.

George Dickel preferred whisky made in the winter months more than summer months because he felt it made the whisky taste smoother, so the company began advertising their Geo. A. Dickel’s Cascade Tennessee Whisky as “Mellow as Moonlight.” This is why our whisky is chilled before undergoing the charcoal-mellow filtration known as the Lincoln County Process. This extra step smooths out the flavor and we’re still the only Tennessee distillery to do it.

When I first began playing guitar, I realized that if I could learn to play three basic chords — the roots of the blues — feel their meaning, and perfect their sound, I could have a career in music. I also recognized that the beauty of the perfect melody, the arrangement of those notes, and the vibrations of those tones, could impact one’s mood and elicit powerful emotions.

One night as I was sipping bourbon in my studio with friends, the conversation naturally turned to music, sound and composition. We began to wonder how blending the “tones” of various whiskeys together could create a unique “harmony” of flavor.

We knew bourbon’s role in Americana music and the American dream. We knew we loved it.  We knew that the blues and the “three chord” progression were a blank score that we could compose our own masterpiece with. Truth, heart, and integrity.

But we wanted to do more than just create another whiskey. We wanted to shake up the industry yet maintain respect for the tradition and legacy of heritage whiskeys. To look at the process differently. To create a taste profile comparable to the finest whiskeys in the world. To craft a new classic whiskey with the same precision and passion with which I create music. The product we created is Three Chord. The process with which it is created we call “Perfectly Tuned Taste.”

Our Tennessee Straight Whiskey is light yet flavorful, distilled and aged at least 36 months. Using the maple charcoal filtration process, we have refined the whiskey to a “Perfectly Tuned Taste.” Just as a three-chord progression is at the foundation of great music, Three Chord Tennessee Straight Whiskey is at the heart of a great spirit.

Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash is a Bottled-in-Bond whiskey, which must be distilled by a single distiller during a single distillation season, matured in a government bonded warehouse for at least four years, and bottled at 100 proof.  Barrels are hand-selected for their characteristics of deeper color, flavor, and aroma, which deliver a darker, richer, and more oak-forward character. It’s a big, bold Tennessee Whiskey at 100 proof with layered notes of caramel, rich oak, and spice giving way to a pleasantly lingering finish.
