Distilling Wheatley Vodka
Wheatley craft vodka comes from the world’s most award-winning distillery, backed by 200 years of distilling experience. Buffalo Trace Distillery is known for its legendary bourbons like Pappy Van Winkle, Weller, E.H. Taylor, and Blanton’s, but the Distillery has a long history of crafting other spirits, including vodka.

VODKA DISTILLING AT BUFFALO TRACE
Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley has been a driving force behind the Distillery’s quest to create a premium craft vodka. Some years ago, he decided to embark on a project to craft the perfect vodka. Through the commitment and meticulous craftsmanship of a dedicated team, one of the Distillery’s first and finest vodkas, HDW CLIX, came to fruition. CLIX, or 159 in Roman numerals, represents the 159 separate distillations that were required to produce this ultra-fine spirit.

Following CLIX, Harlen set out to create the craft vodka that would bear his name. Made with the same red winter wheat and limestone water that the Distillery uses in its award-winning bourbons, Wheatley Vodka is crafted in small batches and distilled ten times over. The result, according to Harlen Wheatley himself, is “how vodka is supposed to taste.”

Aroma

A classic London Dry-style gin blended with American Gin. This vibrant and complex Gin is made from 16 botanicals, from the Hudson Valley and Europe including Juniper, Fresh Citrus Peels, Cascara, Galangal, Elderberry & Rose Hips. Our Vodka is 7x distilled and triple-filtered and proofed down with the purest reverse osmosis water, which results in an extremely smooth and clean spirit. Made from corn.

This vodka is excellent on the rocks, in a martini or mixed in a cocktail.

THE PRODUCT
T’MARO AMARO is the first and only of its kind. It’s an ultra-premium, herbaceous modern liqueur made with selected botanicals and only sweetened by organic dates from the Coachella Valley. There is no added sugar, artificial flavors or colors. We add the botanicals into our date spirit where we let it macerate until ready, then bottle it using a light filtration. Each label is applied by hand using paper made from upcycled palm fronds.

THE STORY
Chef Elizabeth Falkner and beverage-alcohol industry veteran Heather Freyer were inspired by the history, flavors and the mysticism of Amaro. They wanted to make their Amaro using all-natural ingredients without added sugar, colors or flavors. During the innovation process they decided to use dates as the natural sweetener, a product Chef Elizabeth frequently loves to use in her cooking. While learning more about dates and the resilience of the date tree, they discovered a way to make date spirit. The Eau de Vie (spirit) was so delicious they decided they had to bottle it on its own and share it with the world.

THE TASTE
Notes of citrus, soft spice from the sunset on the sea to the cool Sierras and desert fruit caramelized by the sun.

Maker Notes

Our Cristalino begins with the meticulous hand-selection of fully matured 100% Blue Weber Agave, sourced from both the Highlands and Lowlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Our expertly distilled tequila is then aged for over 20 months in Tennessee Whiskey Barrels, developing the rich character and complexity that defines our Añejo expression. We then filter the Añejo to remove the color while accentuating the vibrant notes of citrus, agave, and fruit, resulting in a sublimely smooth spirit with a rounded mouthfeel and lasting impression.

Aroma: Cooked agave, grass, and banana. Undertones of mocha and pineapple.

Perfectly balanced, this vintage showcases both power and finesse, promising great aging potential.

The Opus One 2019 has intense aromas of black plum, blueberry, black currant, and dried rose petals, accentuated by mineral undertones. The creamy, satiny texture is framed by fine-grained tannins. The freshness and soft glow of acidity create a subtle tension with dark fruit flavors, savory herbs, espresso, and cocoa. A delicate dark chocolate bitterness lingers on the finish.
